CHAPTER 126: 126, GOING TO MR. TANG’S INVITATION (2000+)

Titus Zane spread his arms, presenting himself for Mia Foster to see, "You see, I’m doing quite well now, aren’t I?"

Mia Foster grabbed Titus Zane’s hands and sized him up from head to toe before hugging him again.

"It’s great to see you unharmed."

"Thank you." Titus Zane gently patted Mia Foster’s back, "That handsome guy over there is waiting."

The foreign hunk who had walked hand in hand with Mia Foster had been standing beside them, his azure eyes filled with curiosity.

"Heh, let him wait," said Mia Foster as she rose to her feet, yet she did not let go of Titus Zane’s hand.

Titus Zane felt a bit puzzled. Just now he had run into Felix Shaw, and now Mia Foster, but she was... strolling down the street quite conspicuously with a handsome guy’s hand in hers. What if Felix Shaw saw them?

Out of kindness, Titus Zane casually reminded her.

"I saw Felix Shaw just a moment ago."

Expecting Mia Foster to panic, or at least to look worried or guilty, Titus Zane was surprised when, instead, Mia Foster scoffed disdainfully and her gaze drifted toward the water beside them.

"We’re divorced."

Divorced?

"When did this happen?" The astonishment in Titus Zane’s heart slipped out without filtering through his brain.

It had only been three years since he left, when they hadn’t even married yet. How could they now be... divorced?

"Almost a year now, I’ve been transferred to an overseas branch," said Mia Foster, looking down indifferently and swinging their clasped hands back and forth absentmindedly. Titus Zane could tell that Mia Foster seemed unable to let go of Felix Shaw.

Barely a year after the divorce, perhaps she still hadn’t moved on.

Slightly apologetic, he curved his lips, "Sorry, I didn’t mean to..."

"It’s okay." Before Titus Zane could finish, Mia Foster had already lifted her gaze and let go of his hands to embrace the blue sky with open arms, "I’ve moved on, and after leaving him, I’m living well. I have my own space, attend fashion weeks when I feel like it, and I’m accompanied by blonde-haired, blue-eyed hunks."

Although Mia Foster appeared to be open-minded and easy-going, Titus Zane could read insincerity in her words.

He hadn’t had many interactions with Felix Shaw; most were just when Nathan Moore invited him to play cards. However, he could tell from Felix’s occasional complaints that the engagement was instigated by Mia Foster. Felix’s philandering ways were notorious in their circles; he wasn’t someone easily tied down by any woman.

Back then, he didn’t have a close relationship with Mia Foster and was also in an awkward situation himself, so he didn’t have the inclination to meddle in others’ affairs.

Observing Mia Foster’s spirited and upbeat demeanor, Titus Zane simply bit his lip and watched her, knowing that, as someone who had met her only a few times, there was much he couldn’t intervene in.

"Alright, I should get going. I have a lunch date with friends at a Western restaurant." Mia Foster patted Titus Zane’s arm, looking genuinely cheerful, "Let’s meet again if fate allows it."

She didn’t ask for Titus Zane’s address or phone number, perhaps wishing to completely separate from an undesirable past, just like she had done.

Titus Zane smoothed his windswept long hair and continued on his way, but he hadn’t gone far when Felix Shaw suddenly appeared from somewhere, tugging at Titus Zane’s sleeve, looking anxious.

"Titus Zane, have you seen Mia?" Felix Shaw’s eyes roamed searchingly. Titus Zane kept silent, his gaze dropping to the sleeve that Felix Shaw was gripping.

Felix Shaw hadn’t heard a response, so he drew back his gaze and noticed the inappropriateness of his actions. He quickly let go of Titus Zane’s sleeve, his expression slightly embarrassed.

"I’m sorry, I..."

"Sorry, I didn’t see you there." Interrupting Felix Shaw, Titus Zane nodded slightly and then turned to leave.

Maybe it was because of Nathan Moore, but he didn’t have much of a liking for Felix Shaw. Instead, there was a bit of aversion, perhaps due to his overly flirtatious nature.

Glancing at Titus Zane’s retreating figure, Felix Shaw continued to look around. Now, he was intent on catching that woman who was preparing to cheat and then... drag her to bed to teach her a lesson!

In the cafe, Titus Zane picked a corner by the window, stirring his coffee while leisurely enjoying the afternoon sunshine.

The cellphone on the table vibrated slightly. He reached out, picked it up, and brought it to his ear.

"Sister Hua."

"Carry, how’s the situation progressing?" Sister Hua’s voice came through the phone, not domineering or stern as one might expect from a boss, but quite gentle instead.

Gazing at the warm sunlight outside the window, Titus Zane responded with seeming indifference, "Everything is going according to plan."

"Is he planning to take you back to the domestic country?"

"Yes, we’ll go back after Fashion Week if nothing unexpected happens."

"Carry, you always give me peace of mind when you’re on the job," Sister Hua’s voice came through the phone, and although her face wasn’t visible, Titus Zane knew she was smiling.

"But there’s a bit of trouble."

"What trouble?" Sister Hua’s tone became slightly tense.

"It’s not really much," Titus Zane switched the phone to his other ear, the corners of his lips curving slightly, "as usual, we’ll need to send a stand-in. That old geezer insists on clinging to me tonight. I’m worried if he’s not satisfied, he might change his mind."

"No problem," Sister Hua quickly reassured upon hearing this and promptly agreed with enthusiasm, "Time and address, send them to me, and I’ll have someone head over in a bit."

Titus Zane sent the address of the hotel where boss Tang was staying to Sister Hua, finished his coffee, then went to the market to buy some groceries. He returned to the house he once shared with Logan Ray, made dinner by himself, sat down at the dining table, ate slowly and methodically, and then cleaned up.

After resting in his room for a while and feeling it was about time, he called boss Tang.

"Honey, what are you doing?" The call connected, and Titus Zane naturally changed his tone, his lips curving into a charming smile, his eyes sultry. Even though boss Tang couldn’t see, the softness in Titus Zane’s voice made his bones turn jelly.

"Honey, what do you think?" Flirting back, boss Tang’s voice sounded lecherous.

Suppressing the urge to vomit, Titus Zane continued in a soft voice, "You know... you’re thinking about me, hehe..."

"Honey is so smart." Boss Tang’s laughter came through breathlessly, then he tentatively asked, "Are you still with your bestie? How about... bring her over for dinner together?"

"Don’t get your hopes up. She’s here with her husband," Titus Zane playfully chided, ironic considering there was no bestie, it was just an excuse.

"Oh, is that so," although not visible, Titus Zane could imagine boss Tang’s disappointed expression, "then some other time, I’ll invite her and her husband to dinner,"

"Sure," Titus Zane laughed, his voice seductive.

Boss Tang, feeling weak in the knees again, also chuckled, but his laugh was even more lecherous.

"Honey, when will you come keep me company? I’ve ordered a candlelit dinner and am just waiting to share it with you..." boss Tang’s insinuation was clear in his voice, suggesting Titus Zane dare not refuse, so, checking his watch, Titus Zane straightforwardly agreed, "I should arrive in about an hour..."

"That long? Can’t you make it quicker?" Boss Tang’s voice was anxious, and Titus Zane laughed, "Honey, even abroad, there can be traffic at this time."

"Alright, just hurry," boss Tang hung up reluctantly.
