CHAPTER 18: CHAPTER 18: ALL OF YOU COME AT ME, I’M IN A HURRY

Even though Henry Hughes didn’t say who it was, Julian Fairchild still immediately thought of that drunk girl who had clung to him yesterday.

"Does it have anything to do with me?"

As Julian’s long-time friend, Henry Hughes couldn’t help but tease, "Truly heartless."

Julian didn’t open his eyes. His features were deep and well-defined, with sharp lines that exuded a unique charm somewhere between a young boy and a mature man, compelling submission.

His voice was indifferent, "What has you concerned with such matters today?"

Henry Hughes simply sat down beside him, speaking mysteriously, "I really don’t have time for others, but do you know who the girl that hugged you yesterday is?"

The night approached, the wind stirred up waves of green, and Julian’s long eyelashes cast a swaying shadow on his eyelids, adding to his cool demeanor that seemed to slow the passage of time around him.

Seeing that Julian didn’t respond, Henry, used to it, continued talking to himself, "It’s Maeve Lane. That girl is actually Maeve Lane. I really didn’t expect even she would fall into your hands."

Julian repeated the name in his heart, and when he spoke, his tone was still invariably aloof, "Maeve Lane?"

"Didn’t I tell you before? Maeve Lane is that freshman girl who just started college. She’s quite pretty."

Henry chuckled, finding it quite interesting, and continued, "And she has a rather spirited personality."

He paused and then looked at Julian meaningfully, "I think she’s quite interested in you. Maybe her next target is you."

Julian recalled a bit. The name Maeve Lane, even if he hadn’t paid much attention, was often mentioned by people around him.

He just hadn’t thought that one day this name would have any connection to him.

He brushed aside a strand of hair that the wind had blown into disarray in front of his forehead, "Whatever."

Henry, seeing Julian’s indifferent demeanor, really couldn’t imagine what he’d be like if he fancied someone.

He stood up again, stretching his limbs, "Wanna grab some food? A nice restaurant opened recently outside the school."

Julian glanced at his watch, standing up with the grace of a nobleman on horseback from a bygone era, "Let’s go."

The two exited the school gate, passing through a long, narrow alley.

Julian walked a bit, but his steps halted.

His gaze fell upon a girl in a black biker jacket not far away.

She was holding a helmet in her left hand, with her back turned to them.

In front of her stood a few menacing-looking guys in ripped jeans.

Henry nudged Julian, signaling with his eyes, "What was I just saying? Maeve Lane’s getting into trouble—aren’t you going to play the hero and save the beauty?"

Julian frowned, remaining silent.

Henry stroked his chin, "I have a feeling this time you definitely won’t escape from Maeve Lane’s grasp."

Julian, without a hint of emotion, decisively said, "Your feeling is wrong."

"So, by that, you’re not planning to intervene?"

A flicker of dark light flashed through the man’s profound eyes, so brief that even he didn’t notice.

The men were closing in on Maeve Lane, almost ready to make a move!

Julian’s fingers twitched slightly, and Henry, frowning, strode towards Maeve Lane.

But after just a few steps, he stopped, a look of disbelief on his face!

Maeve Lane had intended to go to the racetrack with friends but unexpectedly got cornered here.

She gently brushed the dust off her helmet, casually lifted her gaze, her eyes so cold they sent chills down one’s spine—

"Bring it on, I’m in a hurry."
