Chapter 29: Heart Flutter
CHAPTER 29: CHAPTER 29: HEART FLUTTER
Maeve Lane had nothing to do at the moment and was waiting for a response from Julian Fairchild.
After sending him a long string of funny emojis, she received Julian Fairchild’s first response.

Maeve Lane: "..."
—
The next morning.
Maeve Lane slung her bag over her shoulder, holding a freshly photocopied class schedule in her left hand, and leisurely walked into Julian Fairchild’s classroom.
Julian Fairchild looked up with his cool eyes when he heard the commotion at the door, meeting the gaze Maeve Lane threw his way.
This kind of predatory look seemed perfectly natural on Maeve Lane.
But Julian Fairchild did not appreciate her gaze.
It was blatant, filled with a determination to win, and possessiveness, like a small beast stalking its prey.
Maeve Lane had no idea that the casual glance she threw had annoyed Julian Fairchild. She walked over and sat down at the seat next to him.
From this position, she could see the man’s delicate features highlighted by the pale yellow morning light, his indifferent eyes intimidating from close up.
But Maeve Lane was clearly not intimidated.
She placed the steamed buns and soy milk on the desk, a faint smile playing on her lips, "You haven’t had breakfast, right?"
Julian Fairchild frowned, about to refuse.
Then the girl beside him furrowed her eyebrows slightly, "Since you don’t want my food anyway, you might as well watch me eat."
Julian Fairchild didn’t look at her, replying coldly, "If you’re going to eat, don’t eat near me."
The girl was unfazed, and after a while, she suddenly exclaimed, "Julian Fairchild, I think I got your book dirty."
Julian Fairchild frowned even more deeply, turning his head to see a warm item pressed against his lips.
He looked closely.
It was bread.
Maeve Lane looked at him with a bright smile, her voice soft, "This bread’s been touched by you now; I can’t eat it, so you should have it."
She was glad she asked Henry Hughes beforehand.
No matter how much Julian Fairchild disliked her, he wouldn’t waste food. Julian Fairchild was famously thrifty, not even willing to buy many brand-name clothes.
Maeve Lane made up her mind that if she ever got together with him, she would never let Julian Fairchild suffer any hardship!
Sure enough.
Though Julian Fairchild was reluctant to the extreme, he still took the bread after Maeve Lane said that.
"Aren’t you supposed to be in class?"
Maeve Lane twirled a pen, "Nope, I don’t have any classes today, so I can spend the whole day with you in class. Excited?"
Julian Fairchild kept a straight face, "Not at all."
The classroom was very quiet. Usually, Julian Fairchild would never respond to Maeve Lane, but whether it was the amicable atmosphere today or the rare appeal of the bread to his taste, he found himself not noticing today’s anomaly.
Maeve Lane saw Julian Fairchild’s frustrated look, finding it very amusing, "But I’m happy to be able to spend a whole day with... my future boyfriend."
Julian Fairchild paused in his act of eating the bread, frowning as he corrected her, "I’m not your boyfriend."
"You will be soon."
"Never will be."
The two began an childish exchange over this topic.
The surrounding students kept sending curious glances at the two big personalities of Aurelia University.
Julian Fairchild and Maeve Lane, just by their looks, made a striking pair.
The students at Aurelia University all said Julian Fairchild was a rare sight, extremely handsome with a tall build, sharp eyebrows, bright eyes, and striking facial features.
But the new junior girl didn’t seem overshadowed at all.
Her long legs were slim, white, and straight, with rosy lips and white teeth, and an aura of heroic spirit between her brows; her faint smile could make anyone’s heart skip a beat.
