Mr. Fairchild's Rose: She is Wild and Proud
Chapter 50: Do You Really Like Him?
CHAPTER 50: CHAPTER 50: DO YOU REALLY LIKE HIM?
Meredith Monroe seemed to have heard something incredible and asked, "Do you really like him?"
Maeve Lane didn’t hesitate, lazily glancing at her, "I do like him. Do I seem like someone who would spend time on people I don’t like?"
"Not at all." Meredith simply felt that Maeve wasn’t someone who would act foolishly for love.
But how to put it...
Meredith remembered when she was with her own idol; she was always careful, constantly mindful of her image, always anxious and worried.
But Maeve was too rational.
"Stop overthinking it, midterms are coming up, do you want to fail?" Maeve looked down, her posture while holding the pen was beautiful, even the scribbled notes looked pleasing to the eye.
"Midterm exams. Why do we still have midterm exams in college?" Meredith sighed, "I heard other schools don’t have midterms."
"They count for thirty percent, so let’s get going." Maeve raised an eyebrow and closed her book, "I’m not waiting for you."
Meredith was surprised, "You finished everything assigned today already?"
Maeve smirked, "As long as you have hands, it’s doable."
Meredith: "..." But those were two essays!
—
Julian Fairchild and Henry Hughes’s mentorship was originally supposed to end in three days.
However, because the scheduled junior coach suddenly fell ill, it was extended for a few more days.
This news was undoubtedly exciting.
After all, Julian Fairchild standing there was a sight to behold, and during his mentorship days, the basketball court became a popular spot for spectators.
Henry Hughes and Julian Fairchild had been giving each other the cold shoulder for a few days, barely speaking except when necessary.
The tension on the basketball court was so thick you could freeze in it.
The freshmen also noticed this, so they didn’t dare to tempt fate.
But there was no stopping the private discussions—
"What happened to Senior Fairchild and Senior Hughes? It’s been days, and they’re not talking."
"What else could it be? They had a fight. It’s best if you keep quiet about it, otherwise you might find yourself running a few laps around the track if you catch someone in a bad mood."
"I heard from an upperclassman that Senior Fairchild and Senior Hughes are usually really close and always hang out together. What could they have fought about this time? I’m really curious."
When Maeve Lane arrived, she overheard their conversation and raised her eyebrows in surprise.
Henry Hughes noticed Maeve arriving, but instead of greeting her like before, he moved aside, giving the two of them space.
Maeve’s presence also stirred some excitement among those present.
Initially, people came here just to see Julian Fairchild and Henry Hughes, but ever since Maeve started appearing, there were visibly more boys around.
A few days ago, she heard Meredith warning her that quite a few people were gossiping about her.
Usually, she didn’t pay attention, but today, being closer to the crowd, she overheard more of it.
Nothing more than calling her a "vixen" and such.
And saying she’s a "frog wanting to eat swan meat."
Maeve: "?"
It was the first time she’d been described like that, with Julian Fairchild undoubtedly being the swan meat.
"That’s really... childish." Maeve chuckled and, seeing the two in a cold war, suddenly felt playful.
"Henry Hughes, are you still accepting new members in the basketball club?"
Her voice rang clear across the court.
Henry Hughes was taken aback, "What?"
"I said, I want to join the basketball club. Is that okay?"
An eerie silence fell.
Those who had been badmouthing her suddenly felt guilty and scared.
After all... Maeve’s reputation for toughness matched her beauty.
