CHAPTER 189: CHAPTER 188: I WON’T LET YOU SUFFER

As The Sullivan Corporation began to expand, Claire Sullivan started to attend more social events, and rumors about her with various men emerged involuntarily.

It was said that Claire Sullivan secured orders by climbing into men’s beds.

Serena Sullivan didn’t listen to any of it.

She only cared about whether Claire’s health might be harmed by the social events, always attending to Claire when she returned.

A man loved Claire Sullivan, and he tended to her with care; how could Serena object!

Even if Joel Quinn was just the driver for Claire Sullivan, even if he wanted to move in with his daughter—Zoe Quinn into The Sullivan Residence, she helped persuade her grandfather.

Who could have guessed that this seemingly honest and gentle man towards Claire Sullivan concealed a dirty scheme.

"Serena, you’re here."

The office door of the general manager opened, and Joel Quinn saw Serena Sullivan and smiled, standing up to invite her in.

Serena didn’t give him the chance, followed closely by Yaya.

Whenever she felt a place was dangerous, Serena made sure to maximize her security measures.

In the past, she had the watch Finn Chandler gave her; now she had Yaya.

"Uncle, what do you want with me?"

Yaya pushed Serena past Joel Quinn, directly to the desk.

Joel Quinn’s smile faded as he went to close the door.

"Uncle just wanted to ask if you’re adapting well at The Sullivan Corporation."

Joel Quinn turned and walked over to Serena Sullivan, looking down at her, sizing her up freely.

"It’s okay!"

Serena looked up, meeting Joel Quinn’s gleaming eyes, and her face immediately darkened.

"Uncle, what are you looking at?"

She asked directly, making Joel Quinn chuckle as he sat back down.

"Serena, last night, your mom asked me if you were comfortable being at The Sullivan Corporation."

"I said, as long as I’m here, you won’t be wronged."

Serena listening to his words could only laugh.

"Uncle, if you weren’t here, I’d be even better off." Serena smiled, softening her tone, "This Sullivan Corporation was built by my grandfather, operated by my mom tirelessly. You, a mere driver, ought to do your job outside instead of strutting around, have you no shame!"

With no one else present, Serena didn’t bother with formalities with Joel Quinn.

Joel Quinn wasn’t angry; he continued smiling.

He had no shame, for if he did, he wouldn’t have pursued Claire Sullivan or reached the position of general manager of The Sullivan Corporation.

"Serena, your words are too hurtful for your uncle."

He continued, smiling, "I genuinely want to be good to you. Look at you, sitting in a wheelchair; it’s inconvenient. With me assisting, your mom will also be at ease."

"Uncle, I..." Serena didn’t want to hear his nonsense, so she asked directly, "Uncle, what do you really want to say to me!"

"If my mom genuinely concerned for me, she’d come to The Sullivan Corporation herself."

Handing over the family business to a man, is she not afraid of him consuming it until there’s nothing left?

Joel Quinn didn’t respond right away; he glanced at Yaya standing behind Serena.

"Serena, there are things I want to say to you alone."

"I don’t want to talk to you alone." Asking Yaya to leave? She dared not.

What if this beast suddenly did something to her? Even if she screamed for help, probably no one would care.

Besides, yesterday, he touched her shoulder, making her scrub it so much her hand was sore; today, she didn’t want it to be sore again.

"Are you wanting to talk about the video from yesterday?"
