CHAPTER 190: CHAPTER 189: WHY ARE YOU SO NERVOUS?

Serena Sullivan spoke first, placing the USB drive from her pocket onto Joel Quinn’s desk.

"I’m really sorry, I accidentally left my watch in Ms. Hale’s office yesterday. My watch has surveillance capabilities and captured some footage that shouldn’t have been recorded."

Joel Quinn listened to Serena’s words with a smile, reaching out to pick up the USB drive on the desk, his smile widening.

"Serena, you did it on purpose, didn’t you."

Joel Quinn stated confidently, following up with a smile as his gaze shot toward Serena.

"Uncle, I really left it behind by accident." Serena insisted adamantly.

Saying she did it on purpose would require evidence. The office didn’t have surveillance cameras, which suited their private trysts, so what could he do about it!

"Do you think if Mom saw this video, she might get the wrong idea?" Serena feigned a serious contemplation of the matter.

Joel Quinn perceived Serena’s words as a threat, chuckling disdainfully, "Even if you show that video to your mom, so what!"

"The man in the video isn’t me."

Joel Quinn felt fortunate having discovered that Serena had captured only his back, or else it would have been quite troublesome.

"That man is Ruth Hale’s boyfriend."

Joel Quinn lowered his voice, feigning a helpless tone as he explained, "I heard Ruth Hale brought someone to The Sullivan Corporation today, did you see?"

"How about this." Joel Quinn, sly as a cunning old fox, took out his phone, pretending to call Ruth Hale, "I’ll ask her to bring her boyfriend back for you to meet."

"That won’t be necessary." Serena showed disinterest, eager to end the conversation quickly with Joel, "When I was in the office, Ms. Hale brought someone along."

"It seemed, from behind, that man looked quite like you."

"Hmm." Joel Quinn nodded, looking down at the USB drive in his hand, a smile playing at his lips, feeling a surge of pride inside.

Serena thought she could take him down with a video, huh, he had Ruth Hale find someone with a similar back profile, bringing him to The Sullivan Corporation for a couple spins. If the video reached Claire Sullivan, they would insist the man in the video was Ruth Hale’s new boyfriend.

"The man in the video is really not me. Even if your mom sees it, she won’t believe it; instead, she’ll be angry with you."

Joel Quinn deliberately said this to warn Serena to be sensible.

In reality, there was still a fear in his heart.

The video only showed his back, but if Claire Sullivan was convinced it was him, or if it caused a rift with him, it would have a significant impact on him.

"Don’t be foolish."

Joel Quinn added a line, thinking Serena was about to claim the man in the video was indeed him. Just as he was about to say something, Serena responded with a soft laugh, "Hmm!"

Joel Quinn froze, feeling something was amiss.

"Uncle Joel." Serena looked at Joel Quinn with puzzled eyes, "I believe what you said, but there’s one thing I don’t understand."

"What?"

"If Ms. Hale and her boyfriend were being inappropriate in the office, why are you so nervous?"

After Serena asked, the smile at her mouth deepened, her eyes full of mockery as she looked at Joel Quinn.
