Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 214 - 213: What Did I Say Wrong
CHAPTER 214: CHAPTER 213: WHAT DID I SAY WRONG
Claire Sullivan staggered backward in pain. Before she could look up and see who had hit her, an angry voice rang out, "You! Shut up!"
"Dad!"
Claire saw clearly the trembling figure coming toward her and called out in a panic.
Mr. Sullivan did not respond. He walked up to Claire, raised his hand, and slapped her.
Outside, he had heard every word Claire said.
Back then, when Claire went to study in the Imperial Capital, she was pregnant and refused to say who the father was. As parents, they indeed felt ashamed and their first reaction was to abort the child.
However, Claire was already six or seven months pregnant, and she insisted on giving birth.
So she was allowed to give birth, but for the child’s future, the past in the Imperial Capital and being abandoned by the father couldn’t be mentioned, for fear it would affect Serena’s character.
Claire cherished Serena dearly, giving her all the best and never spoke ill of that man in front of her.
The fact that Joel Quinn and Zoe Quinn had turned this family into such a state! "Dad, why did you hit me?"
Claire had been hit by Mr. Sullivan twice.
She wasn’t hit when she returned pregnant, but those two times were because of Serena.
The first time was four years ago when Serena left home, and Claire accompanied Joel Quinn and Zoe back home, and was slapped by Mr. Sullivan.
Because Serena had a car accident.
The second time was today.
"What did I say wrong?"
With tears in her eyes, Claire asked again, "Even her father doesn’t want her. Why should I?"
A loud "slap" echoed as soon as she finished speaking; Mr. Sullivan slapped her again.
He pointed his trembling finger at Claire’s face, "You, get out of the Sullivan Family!"
"I don’t have a daughter like you!"
The one who should leave was not Serena, but Claire.
Back then, when that man abandoned her, she was supported by him to abort the child.
But now that she was born, she must be responsible for the child’s future.
"Dad!"
Claire held her stinging cheek, calling out in disbelief.
It wasn’t just being slapped twice by Mr. Sullivan, but now he was also expelling her from the Sullivan Family.
"Get out!"
"Get out!"
Mr. Sullivan angrily shouted again.
"Fine!"
Seeing how firmly Mr. Sullivan stood up for Serena, Claire glared at Serena hatefully, then turned and walked away in her high heels.
After she left, Mr. Sullivan, supported by a servant, slowly walked over to Serena.
He looked down, guilt-ridden, at his granddaughter sitting in a wheelchair.
"Serena, it was grandpa who let you suffer such grievances."
It was his fault for not teaching his daughter the difference between right and wrong, for being too foolish.
"Grandpa!"
Serena forced a small smile.
"Your birth was not a mistake. Their refusal to want you was their mistake."
"Grandpa wants to see you stand..."
Mr. Sullivan said with reddened eyes, but then suddenly felt a wave of dizziness and fainted directly.
Fortunately, there was a servant supporting him.
"Grandpa!"
Serena cried out in a panic, immediately instructing Mrs. Chen to arrange for a car to go to the hospital, and she followed along.
