Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 22: Why Insist on Returning
CHAPTER 22: CHAPTER 22: WHY INSIST ON RETURNING
After the car accident, Serena Sullivan doesn’t like being in crowded places, as her presence always becomes the focus of attention.
Those looks from people, whether pity, shock, or disdain, she doesn’t like them.
But Serena is a tough woman; the less she likes something, the more she forces herself to confront it.
Avoiding it is not her style.
After the interview, she plans to visit the mall across the street, Anna Morgan received a call and needs to rush to the crew.
"You go ahead." Hearing Anna Morgan getting angry with someone on the phone urging her, Serena waits for her to finish the call and says with a smile.
"I can manage on my own."
Whether it was Anna or Finn, they both sacrificed their studies initially because of her, staying by her side for a long time.
However, she cannot rely on others forever, and others cannot spend all their time on someone like her.
"I’ll take you back to Willow Yarrow first." Anna Morgan said worriedly, this is not abroad, who knows what kind of people or situations Serena might encounter outside.
Today at The Grant Corporation, without her around, Serena could be bullied terribly.
"I’ve been cooped up at home these past days, feeling a bit stale, want to take a walk."
Serena replied with a smile, "Leave a bodyguard with me, there won’t be any problem."
"Let me stroll around on my own."
Anna Morgan hesitantly looks at Serena, then at the tall bodyguard behind her, knowing that once Serena gets stubborn, not even ten oxen could pull her back, she sighs softly and half-squats in front of Serena.
"Alright!"
She reluctantly lowers her head, saying, "I’m leaving then, if anything comes up, call me."
Serena reaches out to touch Anna Morgan’s frowning face with a smile, "Hurry up and go, I’m waiting to binge-watch your new show."
"Mm-hmm!" Anna Morgan carefully covers Serena’s legs with the blanket, as her hand trembles uncontrollably upon touching those legs, her eyes reddening, fearing Serena would notice, she takes a deep breath, stands up quickly, and instructs her bodyguard, "Take good care of Miss Sullivan."
The bodyguard complies and goes to push Serena towards the mall, Anna Morgan stands up watching Serena go further away, wipes away her tears with her hand, puts on sunglasses, and turns to walk towards the film crew’s direction.
Serena, why do you insist on coming back!
Having not returned to Solaria for so long, the changes here are bigger than Serena imagined.
However, she finds that the city of Solaria has become more human-friendly; the mall she’s visiting has specially opened channels for disabled people, the elevator buttons are like those at Willow Yarrow, reachable by her hand, after a few rounds, she feels pretty good.
Moreover, the food on the mall’s gourmet floor are all her favorites, the counters are low enough for her to reach, she can buy food and drinks herself without the bodyguard’s help.
When going out, she usually dares not eat or drink too much, fearing of having to use the toilet.
For someone with paralyzed legs, without help, going to the toilet can be more exhausting than anything, sometimes failing to reach the toilet, she’d end up falling on the ground unable to get up.
After buying her drink, she went to the restroom, where there are special cubicles designed for the disabled, allowing her to complete tasks independently. The designer of this shopping center is absolutely considerate for her needs, in her delight, Serena drinks all the milk tea in her cup.
She hasn’t felt this satisfied in a long time!
After drinking, she feels the need to go to the restroom again. Serena lets the bodyguard wait in the mall’s corridor for her, as she heads there alone.
Not far away, two attractive and fashionable girls lay eyes on Serena in her wheelchair.
"Isn’t that Serena Sullivan?"
Shannon Shaw says to Zoe Quinn beside her.
