CHAPTER 23: CHAPTER 23: BLOCKED BY A DOG

The morning interview left Zoe Quinn simmering with anger. Serena Sullivan made Anna Morgan slap her in front of so many people, and she couldn’t swallow this bitterness.

She called Ethan Grant several times but couldn’t get through. Crying, she ran off to find him to vent her grievances, only to be stopped by his assistant Yvette Sterling, who said Mr. Grant was in a meeting and wouldn’t see anyone.

What a nuisance, Yvette Sterling was just Ethan’s lapdog, daring to stop her. Zoe Quinn, though angry, felt helpless and went shopping at the mall near The Grant Corporation, determined to max out the card Claire Sullivan had given her today.

"Looks like my sister." Seeing Serena alone, Zoe Quinn immediately perked up, but she deliberately stepped back and took Shannon Shaw’s hand, saying, "Shannon, let’s go shop somewhere else."

Shannon Shaw glanced at the delicate and frightened Zoe Quinn and said, "Anna Morgan seems to be absent."

The Shaw family also had a notable presence in Solaria. Shannon was accompanying Zoe Quinn because she wanted to join the design department at The Grant Corporation. But today, she had been kicked by Anna Morgan at The Grant Corporation. The Shaw family was no match for The Morgan Family, and Anna Morgan was particularly hard to deal with; hence, her anger naturally shifted towards Serena Sullivan.

"What are you afraid of? I’m here with you."

The soundproofing in the restroom was good. They took care of Serena inside, and the bodyguards pacing the corridor couldn’t hear them. Even if they heard something, they wouldn’t dare to rush into the women’s restroom casually.

Shannon Shaw said this and pulled Zoe Quinn towards the restroom.

Zoe Quinn smiled softly with pursed lips, stepping lightly on her pointed high heels to follow Shannon Shaw.

Once inside, Serena Sullivan was heading to the private stall with special seating for wheelchairs. She was about to open the door when a hand forced the door shut. Immediately, a silhouette flashed by, and Serena looked up to see the girl Anna had kicked down at The Grant Corporation, standing with a mocking smile, blocking the entrance.

"Miss Sullivan, I need to use the restroom too."

The other stalls were empty, yet this woman insisted on taking her spot and showed no intention of actually entering—clearly up to no good!

Serena gave a sneering smile, maneuvered her wheelchair, and decided not to entangle further with Shannon Shaw.

She turned around to see a pair of slender heels approaching, with fair legs exposed under a striking white dress.

"Sister, do you need my help?"

A nauseatingly false and delicate voice followed. Serena Sullivan couldn’t even be bothered to raise her head for a glance.

Zoe Quinn lowered her head with a contemptuous smile, reveling in the feeling of looking down at Serena Sullivan.

In the past, Serena relied on being the eldest daughter of The Sullivan Family and having Ethan Grant as her good boyfriend, acting dismissively toward others.

Fortunes change; now Ethan Grant was hers, and Serena Sullivan would spend her life in a wheelchair, looking up at her.

Behind her, Shannon Shaw checked every stall, ensuring they were alone before happily nodding to Zoe Quinn.

Truly, fortune favors them!

Serena Sullivan guessed their intentions. The restroom was a distance away from the mall corridor, and there was no certainty the bodyguards outside could hear her.

And even less certainty about when someone else might enter!

If she weren’t incapacitated, she would have slapped Zoe Quinn out of her vision just like Anna Morgan did.

But she couldn’t even run away.

"Sister."

Seeing Serena Sullivan ignore her, Zoe Quinn pouted and called again, "We haven’t seen each other for four years. Do you really dislike me this much?"

Serena raised her head. Zoe Quinn’s delicate face was full of mirth, and her eyes sparkled with undisguised pride, all focusing on her.

Serena withdrew her gaze, sliding one hand under the blanket to touch something hard. Her smile widened, her voice slowly emerging filled with disdain.

"If a dog blocks my path, do I have to bark back?"
