CHAPTER 33: CHAPTER 33: I’M YOUR WIFE

"Why did you come back? Why didn’t you just die out there?"

"I’m wicked! But you birthed me, didn’t you?"

Serena Sullivan curled her lips, the smile gradually seeping into her eyes. She looked up towards the window, her voice becoming slower, colder, "Mom!"

"Serena!"

"Sir!"

The two voices rang out at the same time. Not sure if it was Claire Sullivan’s angry, shrill voice, or a servant respectfully calling out, Serena’s hand trembled slightly.

"Come over and apologize to Zoe, or I won’t let this go with you. Don’t think you can..."

On the phone, Claire Sullivan angrily commanded, but Serena didn’t wait for her to finish. She raised her hand and ended the call. Afraid Claire would call again, she set the phone to silent.

The surroundings gradually returned to calm, but Serena knew her heart was already in turmoil.

After a while, the sound of footsteps echoed, and the man walked past Serena, bringing with him the scent from outside. Serena inhaled the smell clinging to his clothes.

Cigarette smoke, and a woman’s perfume.

The scent was strong and alluring, it was the perfume Zoe Quinn wore today.

Ethan Grant didn’t speak. He pulled out a chair and sat next to Serena, eating.

In the dining room, apart from the servant’s footsteps and the clinking of dishes, only the sound of two people chewing remained.

This meal, Serena suddenly lost her appetite. She took two more bites, put down her chopsticks, and prepared to leave.

As her hand reached the wheelchair, Ethan Grant coolly said, "Where to?"

Serena turned her head to look, still a white shirt, the top two buttons undone, his wheat-colored chest partly visible, sleeves rolled up, fingers holding chopsticks with elegant nobility. Four years later, Ethan Grant was a hundred times more remarkable than she’d imagined.

Such a man, destined not to belong to someone like her.

Serena lowered her head, a faint smile escaped her lips, bitter and forlorn, landing on her legs.

"Today’s events, shouldn’t you give me an explanation?"

Ethan Grant asked again, his gaze had never left her since he came in.

"Oh." Serena lifted her head, regained her usual smile. Ethan carried Zoe Quinn’s scent; they must have met.

Zoe Quinn was slapped five times by her, he must be heartbroken.

As soon as she returned, he was anxious to confront and challenge her. After all, he was taken from Zoe Quinn by her.

"I found her annoying, so I slapped her."

Serena said with a slight smile, not wanting to detail the events in the restroom to Ethan.

He used to be the Ethan who loved and pampered her; if she was bullied, she would have certainly told him.

But he wasn’t that Ethan anymore!

That call was made, but the person on the other end wasn’t him.

Therefore, he didn’t know why she slapped Zoe Quinn.

Coming back from Zoe’s side, how would he believe her side of the story?

Serena leaned against the chair back, looking at the man’s indifferent face, and smiled slightly, "Mr. Grant, are you feeling sorry?"

"Just five slaps, they won’t ruin her face."

Compared to what Zoe Quinn had done to her, ruining her face wouldn’t be enough for revenge.

Ethan Grant didn’t reply. He looked at her, his eyes full of the smiling Serena.

"Mr. Grant, there’s something I need to remind you." Serena glanced at her phone on the table, reached over, and placed her hand on the cracked screen, "I am your wife."
