CHAPTER 49: CHAPTER 49: YOU HURT MY WIFE—DON’T YOU OWE ME AN EXPLANATION?

The wheelchair nearly tipped over! Yvette Sterling quickly grabbed the wheelchair; if the madam fell, no one in this office would have a peaceful day.

Zoe Quinn saw Yvette steady the wheelchair, a trace of cold hatred flashed in her eyes, and she feigned panic, calling out "Sister."

"It’s okay, it’s okay, you’re fine." She patted her chest reassuringly, speaking with concern.

"Zoe, she deserves it!"

Seeing Serena Sullivan almost fall from his kick, Sean Lockwood adjusted his clothes, feeling somewhat guilty.

Zoe turned back, her eyes reddened with sadness as she looked at Sean, "No matter how she treats me, she’s still my sister."

The hypocritical words instantly made Zoe’s image in Sean’s heart even more perfect. "Zoe, how can you be so kind-hearted!"

"Sister fell to the ground; it must be so painful not to be able to get up."

Zoe softened her voice and added with a light smile. Those around immediately caught the point in her words, "Yeah, as a cripple, she can’t get up on her own if she falls."

"She’s already a cripple; how can she have the nerve to come back and break up Mr. Grant and Miss Quinn!"

"Mr. Grant doesn’t care for her at all."

Yes, as a normal man, he wouldn’t be interested in a woman who spends her days in a wheelchair.

However, in their eyes, Mr. Grant was anything but normal.

Yvette overheard these harsh words. A bunch of fools with no insight; if Mr. Grant doesn’t want to marry Miss Sullivan, no matter how much design there is, he wouldn’t marry her. He got up, ready to sharply rebuke them when footsteps were heard at the door again.

The sound of leather shoes forcefully hitting the floor tiles, "tap, tap, tap," made everyone inexplicably flustered.

With a stern face, Ethan Grant appeared at the door, and everyone in the office fell silent.

Zoe smiled, thinking that Ethan must have known she was here and came to see her.

She stepped forward, speaking softly, "Ethan, you didn’t have to come just for me; I can handle it."

Ethan glanced at Zoe, who had half of her face covered by a mask. Zoe, recalling her beaten face, flinched at his cold, gloomy eyes, stepping back a bit.

"What are you doing!"

He coldly asked, turning to look at everyone, his gaze seemingly inadvertently falling on Serena. The glaring red wound on her pale arm especially caught his eye, intensifying the chill emanating from his body.

"Sister accidentally got kicked by Sean."

Zoe replied in a low voice, not daring to detail the incident, vaguely shifting the blame onto Sean without revealing her own involvement.

The poor clueless Sean still didn’t realize he was betrayed by Zoe. Seeing Ethan, he angrily asked, "Uncle, you came just in time."

"You abandoned Zoe and married this woman; shouldn’t you give me an explanation?"

"Give you an explanation?"

Ethan turned to look at Sean, slowly responding in a cold, somber voice.

Before the wedding, he deliberately arranged for Sean to have three months of filming abroad, according to the contract with the crew; he shouldn’t be back now.

This young master suddenly sneaked back without telling his manager, catching everyone off guard.

Staring at him coldly, Sean felt a piercing chill from his toes to his limbs, shaking uncontrollably, "It’s an explanation for Zoe."

"You injured my wife; shouldn’t you give me an explanation?"
