Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 60: It Really Wasn’t Me Who Took It
CHAPTER 60: CHAPTER 60: IT REALLY WASN’T ME WHO TOOK IT
The car drove in quickly and stopped steadily in front of Ethan Grant and Serena Sullivan. The driver got out with a smile and opened the door, inviting Ethan Grant and Serena Sullivan inside.
Imagining the boss carrying someone to the main entrance must be tiring, so he drove the car directly inside.
However, the boss seemed unhappy—no, he was coldly glaring at them and the car with an evil look as if he wanted them to disappear together.
Yvette Sterling, who followed them, saw the driver acting on his own initiative by bringing the car. "Master, you’re really asking for it!"
"Sir can carry the lady home anytime."
"Ethan Grant."
Serena Sullivan felt uncomfortable with Ethan Grant carrying her for such a long time. After she called out, Ethan Grant bent down and slowly placed her in the back seat.
Ethan Grant got in again, and on the way back, he didn’t say a word, the silent atmosphere making everyone in the car uneasy. Serena accompanied him in silence, occasionally gazing through the window at the blurred yet familiar face in the dim night.
The next day, Ethan Grant woke up late, and they delayed coming to work by half an hour. Well-rested, Serena couldn’t help but marvel at how great it was to be the boss—to be able to be late or to sleep at home if desired—naturally, being the boss’s wife felt good too, being able to be late together with him.
She entered the office in a good mood, only to find Shannon Shaw and Zoe Quinn bending down, looking for something.
They seemed very anxious.
"What’s going on?"
Serena asked, Designer Cheney noticed Serena’s arrival and hurried over to her.
This Designer Cheney had no great animosity toward Serena, nor did he come through Zoe Quinn, so after some threats and inducements from Serena, most of his allegiance shifted towards her.
Designer Cheney glanced at Zoe Quinn and said in a low voice, "Miss Quinn’s necklace is missing."
"What necklace?"
Serena asked in confusion.
"It’s the necklace that Miss Quinn won the gold award for."
Designer Cheney continued, "Yesterday afternoon, when she left, it was left on the table. This morning, when she came in, she couldn’t find it."
"Oh." Serena responded, and walked towards her own desk.
"Keep looking; it might have fallen into some gap."
As the words fell, Shannon Shaw turned around and faced Serena, asking, "Did you take Miss Quinn’s necklace?"
Zoe Quinn stood up straight after hearing this, looking at Serena.
"Sister, did you take it?"
She wasn’t wearing a mask today; most of the swelling had gone down, and it was covered with foundation so it wasn’t too noticeable. She bit her lips, tears welling up.
"No."
Serena only answered with two words before Shannon Shaw strode over, her voice sharp and piercing, "It must be you who took it."
"Yesterday, Miss Quinn gave the necklace as an apology, but you insisted on wanting the one around her neck."
"Moreover, we all left after work, and you stayed behind alone under the pretense of unfinished work. Who else could it be but you!"
"Hmm!"
Serena picked up the watch on the table and put it back on her wrist. She looked up at the furious Shannon Shaw and agreed, "That does seem logical."
"I did glance several times at the necklace around her neck yesterday, and I was the only one who worked late. I have the motive and opportunity to commit the crime."
Once she admitted, Shannon Shaw and Zoe Quinn exchanged glances, things smoothly going beyond their expectations, "But..."
Serena changed her tone, turning to look at the two people with eyes full of sarcasm, and innocently replied, "Really, I didn’t take it!"
