Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 82: What Will You Do If You Go On Like This
CHAPTER 82: CHAPTER 82: WHAT WILL YOU DO IF YOU GO ON LIKE THIS
Serena Sullivan, as usual, was escorted by The Grant Corporation’s staff down to the lobby after work, waiting for the driver to come pick her up.
The driver called to say the car was blocked in the underground garage by other vehicles and asked her to wait a little longer.
While waiting at the entrance, Serena didn’t see the driver, but instead, Claire Sullivan showed up.
Claire stepped out of a business vehicle, and upon seeing her, Serena turned her head away, looking elsewhere, not believing she was there specifically for her.
"What are you staring for!"
Seeing Serena ignoring her, Claire approached her with a grumpy expression and said, "Do you have time this evening? Let’s have dinner together."
Serena raised her head to look at Claire, gave a sarcastic laugh, softened her voice, and replied, "No, I’m not going!"
Meeting with Claire could never mean anything good!
"You!"
Being so directly refused, Claire’s face immediately darkened, and she asked irritably, "Are you going or not?"
"Mrs. Quinn, I’m busy!"
Serena replied, taking out her phone to call the driver, urging him to come quickly.
Claire’s sudden appearance with an invitation made her very uneasy.
"Serena, are you not even willing to have a meal with me?" Claire asked in an annoyed tone while Serena was on the phone.
Serena glanced at Claire, her aloofness plainly expressing "not willing" with those three words.
Claire felt a bit hurt inside. Though Serena wasn’t clingy before, she was never this cold.
"Serena, I have something to discuss with you," she softened her voice and said.
As she approached Serena, a car quickly drove up, and the driver got out to block Claire, calling over The Grant Corporation’s security as well.
In front of The Grant Corporation, it was indeed impossible for Claire to just take Serena away.
"I am Serena’s biological mother," Claire said deeply, never imagining a day where she would need someone else’s consent just to have a meal with her daughter.
"If you want to talk, talk here!"
Serena stood firm; Claire’s sudden visit could not mean anything good. Without guaranteed safety, why should she follow?
Serena asked the driver and security to wait by her side, and Claire looked at Serena sitting in a wheelchair, sighed lightly.
"Serena, do you hate your mother this much?"
Serena laughed mockingly, yes, she hated Claire’s favoritism, hated Claire’s trust in Joel Quinn and his daughter’s one-sided stories.
"If you have something to say, just say it. Spare the nonsense."
Zoe not being around, Claire saw the coldness in Serena’s eyes and couldn’t help but feel increasingly distressed and oppressed. She slowly squatted down in front of Serena, held her hand, and softly said, "Having you end up like this, what should we do later?"
This was the first time since the incident that Serena had heard Claire speak to her so tenderly, heard her show some compassion.
However, Serena knew that Claire wasn’t there to show her compassion.
"Serena!"
"Your mother hopes for you to have a home and someone who cherishes you!"
Serena looked at the face so similar to her own and pretended not to understand, asking, "Mom, aren’t I already married?"
As she spoke, she withdrew her hand from Claire’s.
With her hand empty, Claire looked up to see the sarcastic smile on Serena’s face. She took a deep breath and continued warmly, "Serena, you know what I mean!"
