Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 89: Who Can Compare to My Husband?
CHAPTER 89: CHAPTER 89: WHO CAN COMPARE TO MY HUSBAND?
Claire Sullivan has a simple mindset and trusts Zoe Quinn and her father, but Serena Sullivan sees things clearly.
As she was being pushed forward, she reached out and grabbed Claire Sullivan’s hand.
Claire was taken aback and looked down to see Serena’s face full of mocking smile.
"Mom, do you really want me to be with the Shaw family heir?"
Surrounded by reporters and guests, Serena’s voice was neither loud nor soft, but many people heard it.
They were stunned, thinking they had misheard.
Serena was now Ethan Grant’s wife, how could she be associated with the Shaw family heir?
Claire’s expression changed drastically when she was suddenly questioned, "I..."
Inviting Serena over was a disguised way to arrange a blind date with the Shaw heir, waiting for him to send Serena back after the banquet ended.
This was Claire’s plan.
With so many people watching, and Serena looking at her mockingly, Claire felt guilty and didn’t know how to respond!
"Sister," Zoe said softly in response, "you are already with Brother Ethan, so don’t be thinking about the Shaw heir."
This implied that Serena wanted to have her cake and eat it too.
"Is my husband someone to be compared with?"
Serena replied with a cold smile, turning her head to see the anger rising in Zoe’s eyes, she calmly said, "Also, either call my husband brother-in-law or address him as ’Mr. Grant’."
Comparing the Shaw family heir with Ethan Grant was an insult to Ethan Grant.
Although there have been rumors in Solaria over the years that Ethan Grant is ill, it doesn’t stop him from being one of the most desirable men to marry.
Serena’s light comments made Zoe’s expression darken, her teeth clenched tightly.
"Serena, your mother wants you to be happy."
Joel Quinn, who was the best at talking, spoke up, saying that no matter what Claire did, it was all for Serena’s good. After speaking, he gestured for Zoe to push Serena over to rest.
Serena said no more; she sat in the wheelchair, looking up towards the doorway, as the corridor became increasingly deserted.
They used her unwell condition as a reason to push her to the room to rest; shouting wouldn’t help.
Upon reaching the room entrance, Zoe stopped walking, bent down, and whispered in Serena’s ear, "Sister, rest well, I’ll come to get you later."
She had become smarter, not daring to speak too directly, fearing Serena might use the watch on her wrist to record the conversation.
Waiting for half an hour later, anything that happened in the room wouldn’t relate to her.
The door opened, and Serena was pushed inside. It was a suite, and aside from the light coming in from outside, the room was quite dark, not easy to see clearly.
The light switch was on the wall, and Serena couldn’t reach it.
She simply maneuvered the wheelchair towards the window, standing in the bright area, and slowly regained a sense of security.
Music from the banquet hall could be heard from outside, and Serena thought of Claire. She really didn’t want to reach a breaking point with Claire, but she had no choice.
Slowly, she began to think of Ethan Grant.
Did he know she was being schemed against, did he know she was a bit scared now?
With a "click," the door suddenly opened, light entered, and Serena turned her head to see a frail man walking toward her. As he approached and their faces became visible to each other, a glint of admiration appeared in the man’s eyes, and the smile on his face grew increasingly "brazen".
