Mr. Hawthorne, Your Wife Wants a Divorce Again
Chapter 61: I Will Marry You
CHAPTER 61: CHAPTER 61: I WILL MARRY YOU
But in the past six months, despite her constantly yielding to Laura’s wishes, not arguing or resisting, and compromising everywhere she could.
It didn’t have the slightest calming effect.
In Laura’s eyes, even if Cynthia farts, it smells nice, whereas anything she does with her heart and soul surely has ulterior motives.
-
Laura returned to the Hawthorne Family in a fit of rage, smashing two expensive vases situated by the entrance, yet, she still couldn’t quell her anger. The nearby servants were terrified.
Upon hearing the commotion, Cynthia came downstairs. For the sake of her heart, she deliberately walked slowly over and asked, "Auntie, who made you so angry?"
"Who else but that bitch?!" Laura glanced at her bandaged finger, and as she opened her mouth, the anger was apparent. "I don’t know what kind of spell she cast on the old man to get him to back her up and let her resume her studies!"
"A tramp like her is really unworthy!"
Saying this, she shattered more vases into pieces.
Upon hearing this, Cynthia walked over to help Laura sit on the sofa, gently comforting her, "Auntie, don’t be angry. Just have Cian say something, and sister won’t defy you."
"I’m not against this matter, Mom, and you shouldn’t meddle in Ann Vaughn’s personal affairs anymore."
At this moment, Cyrus strolled down from upstairs, wearing casual home clothing, one hand in his pocket, his narrow eyes coolly glancing at Laura.
No matter what is said, Ann Vaughn saved Grandpa, and rewards of this level are well-deserved.
Cynthia’s expression stiffened, and she bit her lip, her gaze pitiably fixed on Cyrus.
"If not for this family, why would I go provoke that old man?! How can Chinese medicine, which ruins lives, appear in our Hawthorne Family?" Laura widened her eyes, unable to believe Cyrus would speak up for Ann Vaughn.
This son of hers loathes Ann Vaughn the most. Back then, when she burned Ann’s medical books, he never spoke up to stop her.
This increased Laura’s confidence, making her believe that regardless of how she treated Ann Vaughn, she was right.
"Once Grandpa makes a decision, he won’t easily change it, unless you can override him." Cyrus stated calmly, voicing this fact without a trace of emotional fluctuation.
Having been by Grandpa’s side since childhood, even when studying abroad, it was Grandpa who accompanied him. So, his relationship with the long-disappeared father and Laura wasn’t deep.
Since it was Grandpa’s decision, no one could defy it.
"Fine, but if this family is ever ruined, you’d better not blame me for not stopping it!" Laura immediately stood up, carrying a stern face as she walked upstairs.
"Auntie..." Cynthia tried to hold her back, then turned and glared at Cyrus, "Cian, Auntie is just worried and acting rashly. What you said might hurt her feelings."
Cyrus’s narrow eyes remained calm, his expression unchanged. He simply picked up the ice water on the table, twisted it open, and took a few gulps.
Seeing his silence, Cynthia’s unease grew. She stood up and walked to his side, asking, "I heard you’re taking sister to The Whitlock Family’s banquet tomorrow, is that true?"
"Mm."
"But, in the past, I was always your date. I’m worried about how sister will handle it being her first time..."
More importantly, how could he agree to this?
Cynthia bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes, "Cian, have you... fallen for sister, which is why you keep delaying divorcing her?"
"Don’t overthink. It’s Grandpa’s wish." Cyrus’s deep, narrow eyes slightly lowered, and he held Cynthia’s hand, comforting her warmly.
"I thought you’d forgotten the promise from childhood to marry me one day. That made me a little uneasy." Cynthia looked lost and forlorn, evoking pity in those who saw her.
Cyrus gently embraced her, his voice steady and firm, "After your heart surgery is over, I’ll marry you."
