CHAPTER 218: IT IS UNACCEPTABLE

Hilla was having lunch when Carlie sent her a message.

It turned out that tomorrow was the last day of filming so Carlie invited Hilla over for a wrap party after that.

Hilla thought that she was only an extra and not professional, so she refused.

After all, she was a provisional actor and she didn’t know the entire cast. What was more, even if she knew them, they would not invite an extra to the wrap party.

Carlie tried to persuade her, but Hilla insisted. Therefore, Carlie did not say anything else.

After hanging up the phone, Carlie looked at Stanley beside her and said, "Don’t say that I’m not helpful. I’ve invited her, but she refused."

Stanley’s phone was off. He flipped the black screen but did not turn it on.

When Carlie found that he looked gloomy and did not speak, she chuckled.

"Do you fall in love with her at first sight?"

Carlie was curious because she was the one who brought Hilla to the cast. She once thought that Hilla must have a backer, so the manager recommended Hilla to design for her.

However, Carlie was impressed with Hilla’s talent, and then she didn’t care who Hilla’s backer was.

What was more, it was normal for a beautiful girl like Hilla to have one or two rich admirers.

If Hilla were in show business, someone would be willing to make her a star. It happened now and then, so Carlie got used to this.

Stanley has been thrust into the limelight in recent months.

He had momentum, and even the director showed respect to him. Therefore, it seemed that there was an unknown secret behind the fact that he suddenly became famous.

He should also have an extraordinary identity.

Carlie was curious because there were too many rich people in show business.

Most of the rich came alone for the ride, and they would only play a role if they could identify with the character. What was more, they would quit at any time as long as their family needed them.

Therefore, Carlie wouldn’t offend them.

Carlie used to be cold, but now she asked with a teasing smile. Stanley raised his head and then his gaze fell on her face.

He smiled, "Not so much. I think she is a very interesting woman."

"Interesting? It is the beginning of liking." Carlie thought and raised her eyebrows slightly.

Carlie took part in the same production with him, so she reminded, "The beautiful always has some admirers. I don’t think you are the first or the last one."

Carlie reminded him that Hilla might have a powerful backer.

Stanley remembered that Hilla lived in the Lakeshore Center. If Hilla hadn’t arrived first, he would have thought that Hilla followed him that day.

He watched Hilla get out of the car and expertly walk to an apartment that was not the same apartment in which he lived.

It was obvious that Hilla lived in the Lakeshore Center, but the people who lived there seemed to be either the purple or celebrities.

Hilla was not the latter. What was more, he had lived in the River City for a year, but he never heard of the Holt family.

Therefore, Stanley thought Hilla wasn’t the purple or a celebrity.

He knew that Hilla was a costume designer. Before Carlie walked down the aisle, Hilla wasn’t well-known. It could be imagined that Hilla absolutely couldn’t afford to live in the Lakeshore Center as a designer.

It could only be because that man asked her to live there.

If she was not attached to a man, how could Carlie know about Hilla?

Stanley was sullen, and a shadow appeared under his eyes.

Stanley though, Hilla is pretending to be pure. She plays hard to get and she might think that I’m inferior to that man.

She is hypocritical, and she likes to put it on in front of others.

Stanley suddenly lost interest in Hilla because he had seen many good faces, but interesting souls were few.

It was obvious that the soul under Hilla’s good face was dirty.

She was not his type!

Carlie kept a straight face, smiled contemptuously, turned around, and then left.

She was lost for word because his thoughts were ridiculous.

He wanted to play with Hilla, but he still hoped that Hilla could be pure.

Did he think that he was the saint or tried to purify Hilla’s mind?

Hilla sat at the drawing board to paint after she was stuffed. She tried to finish the designs so that she could have time to help Halle.

But she fell asleep.

She was woken up by the ringing of her phone. Noticing that it was a video call from Halle, Hilla hurriedly picked it up.

Before Hilla could speak, Halle anxiously said, "Hilla. I’m sorry. I didn’t keep an eye on Emily so that she dirtied the fabrics."

Halle’s voice was full of fatigue and frustration, so Hilla could tell that Emily must have dirtied the fabrics for a while.

Halle once thought that she could find similar fabrics to replace them. However, she never expected that Hilla’s clients wanted to be unique so that they used the rare and precious fabrics that were hard to find in the market.

Not to mention how valuable the finished products were, just these pieces of fabrics that were cut into semi -finished products were expensive enough for them to compensate the entire studio.

Not only it was hard to find the fabrics, but the silkworms that could produce this kind of silk seemed to have died out.

Halle held her forehead and looked anxious.

Halle thought, I knew how precious the box that Hilla had just sent is, but how can I put it aside casually?

If I have locked the box up in time, this situation would not have happened.

"Hilla, I’m sorry for dragging you down."

Halle’s voice was very low, negative, and pitiful.

If it wasn’t for her, Hilla would have been able to live well in the Anderson’s.

Hilla has been busy with the studio and even neglected Bruce for the sake of Emily and Halle.

Halle rubbed her eyebrows. She wanted the studio to develop quickly so that she would not be a burden on Hilla.

But she realized that she must be unlucky.

Whoever came into contact with her would become unfortunate.

Since she knew that, she should avoid everyone and lived with Emily alone. Although she might live a hard life, she wouldn’t drag others down.

Moreover, the person who was currently involved with her was her most beloved Halle!

"Halle, don’t worry. Leave it to me. There will be more solutions in the River City."

"Send me the damaged fabrics first, and let me check whether there is any remedy."

While Hilla comforted Halle, Hilla was thinking whether she could fix them with the

broken pieces that she had cut off.

Hilla knew very well how precious the fabrics were, so she had been very careful when cropping them.

Hilla only hoped that Halle would not lose hope because of this because Halle still had Emily!

...

Hilla looked at the photos sent by Halle one by one and found some parts were okay because Emily only sprinkled a bit of milk on them. Therefore, she could tell her client that she needed to make some modifications.

However, some key parts of the fabrics were even more troublesome so that she had no way to make up for it with other fabrics.

The milk stains were scattered on many fabrics. And some of the fabrics were soaked in milk, so she could only scrap them.

When Bruce returned, he was told that Hilla hadn’t gone downstairs for the entire day.

The maid said, "Mr. Anderson, Mrs. Anderson said that she was busy, so she asked me to bring the food up. She also said that if you come back, please don’t disturb her for the next few days."

The maid was a little guilty because she was afraid that she would be fired after she passed on the message.

Bruce glanced upstairs and said with a serious expression, "Is Mrs. Anderson very busy?"

"She wasn’t in the morning. But she seemed to have received a call from Ms. Holt in the afternoon. After that, she became busy."

Moreover, it seemed that Hilla would be busy for a long time.

Bruce thought that he would need to continue to sleep in the study room alone, but he did not say anything but went straight upstairs to the study room to take a shower.

When he walked past the bedroom, he found that the bedroom door was half-open.

Hilla was so busy that she did not notice whether the door was closed.

Moreover, she was in her own house, so she had nothing to worry about.

Bruce stood at the door. Through the narrow gap, he saw Hilla standing at the table not far away, putting a ruler in her mouth, and bending down to crop the remaining fabrics from time to time.

Because some of the remaining fabrics were so small that couldn’t fix them, Hilla frowned from time to time.

Under the crystal lamp, Hilla’s cheeks were covered with a layer of faint halo.

She stared at the fabrics and carefully cropped them.

Every time before she had finalized, she would frown and hesitate slightly.

After cropping them, she would look at the satisfactory patterns with a smile.

It seemed that there wasn’t too much difference after repairing them with the remaining fabrics.

However, two kinds of fabrics were extremely special. Hilla had kept all the fabrics when cutting because they were precious.

Hilla would even have to change the designs because of the place that had been dirtied.

However, it was difficult because she had checked the designs with the clients. Moreover, even if the clients agreed and she had prepared the remaining fabrics, it was impossible to cut off all the dirty parts.

Hilla looked at the photos through the phone, sighed, and sat on the chair in frustration.

What should they do? Those fabrics were very precious, and she couldn’t finish them in time even if she found the floss now.

Bruce flashed past outside the door, and then he returned to the study room.

Early the next morning, Hilla didn’t lock herself in the room.

She planned to go to the Key Group to check whether she could find similar fabrics.

She did not expect to run into Stanley who had just come out of the garage.

They both were driving and didn’t glance at each other as if they did not know each other at all.

Hilla didn’t care at all because Stanley was just a stranger who she had met once in the production.

But they lived in the same community, so they had more opportunities to see each other.

Stanley raised his eyebrows and watched Hilla leave in the rearview mirror.

He noticed Hilla’s car was a sports car and was worth tens of thousands of dollars, but how could a designer afford it?

A woman who looked aloof was in fact vain and artificial.

It was ridiculous! He was attracted by such a woman.

It seemed that Hilla’s backer was not stingy at all to her.

The car, house, and her clothes all were costly and showed her impeccable taste.

She got a good price for her body.

However, he was a little curious about Hilla would choose what kind of man.

There were quite a few rich men in the River City.

Stanley squinted and then he looked flirtatious.

He had always attracted many women. Even if those women didn’t want his money, they would still be all over him for his good look.

He didn’t believe that Hilla would be able to keep pure for her backer.

As long as one could offer it.

Stanley was lost for thought for a while. When he looked up again, he found that he had been sitting in the car for two hours.

He suddenly came to himself and thought, "What am I doing? My time is so precious and there are so many things to do. How can I waste two hours on a vain woman?"

It seemed that it was unacceptable for him because of his misjudgment.

After getting out of the car, Stanley slammed the door and went straight to the elevator. This kind of woman was not worthy of him wasting time or energy.

Hilla went directly to the factory of the Key Group and found the person who she approached last time.

When the person looked at the photos, he was slightly stunned.

"What’s wrong?" Hilla asked anxiously and became gloomier.

The person came to himself and looked at Hilla, "I didn’t expect that you could get these fabrics. Where did you get them?"

Hilla said bluntly, "My clients gave them to me. I thought they were especially suitable for evening dresses, but I accidentally dirtied them yesterday. Can I find these fabrics here?"

The person smiled, "I remember that the fabrics were produced by the Key Group.

"However, it was produced three years ago. And we only produced three bolts. Mr. Key gave one of them to Mrs. Key, and the other one was taken away by Stefan. As for the last bolt, it seemed to have been sold to a madam."

Because it had been too long and he was an ordinary employee who had just worked in the Key Group for a while back then, so he could not remember it very clearly.

"But the fabrics are very special. That’s why I have an impression of them."

Hilla nodded. The floss was indeed very special. When the sun shone, the fabrics seemed to be able to reflect neon lights. However, if one looked at them carefully, they couldn’t see anything special.

"I heard that this kind of silkworms was raised by Mrs. Key. However, they can only live for one season. After that, they will die. Moreover, this type of sewing pattern is very complicated. Our current workers don’t even know it."

Therefore, it was impossible to weave these kinds of fabrics again.

Hilla rubbed her forehead and thought that Stefan still had one bolt.

He didn’t give it away, did he?
