Mr. Tycoon's Beloved Wife: The Madam No One Dares to Offend
Chapter 30: A Perfect Couple
CHAPTER 30: A PERFECT COUPLE
She dared talk about evidence? Hilla did not care about whether other people would believe in her or not. Right now, Felicia Fortis had hired someone to harm her. Why would she need to find evidence to convince others? What mattered was Hilla believed it!
In any case, she had always been someone who would take revenge when someone slighted her. She did not like suffering losses.
And what was the most frustrating for others was that no one could actually beat her.
Back then, as the rich lady of Holt Corporation, no one dared to lift a finger against her.
Now, she would personally chop off the hands of whoever who dared raise their hands on her.
Felicia was thoroughly frightened by the fire in Hilla’s eyes. Subconsciously, she backpedaled until she fell on the floor.
"You... You cannot hit me! This is a university! The student council and the dean will not let you go! Do you still want to graduate from this university?!"
Felicia had never expected Hilla to be so direct and conceited. However, Felicia was not a fool. If Hilla wanted to beat her, she would make sure to let Hilla know about the consequences.
Hilla was stunned for a moment by her words. Then, she snickered happily.
"Looks like you really didn’t research me properly. It’s no wonder why you would hire those useless bastards. I just need to raise my hands to break their limbs. Do you think I would let anyone find out that I beat you?"
As Hilla spoke, she squatted down in front of Felicia. The smile on her face was gentle and beautiful, but Felicia felt a chill running down her spine.
She was so frightened that she shivered. She opened her mouth and started to whisper, "S-Stay back! Get away from me!"
"Don’t be afraid. I’m only trying to help you since you fell on the floor. We’re simply students ’helping’ each other. It’s only right for students to exercise friendly affection with each other."
Hilla’s smile was incredibly beautiful but it was just as incredibly frightening to Felicia.
’Who would believe you when you smile like that!’
Felicia was literally running while shrieking. Her frantic figure was nothing like how a prideful campus beauty was supposed to be.
She did not run far before a loud splash was heard, followed by a wide splash of
water. Then, the voices of the students of the university shouting for help were heard. "Help! Felicia Fortis has fallen into the water!"
At that moment, her fans quickly ran over. Hilla could not be bothered to even look at how the girl was choking on water like she was going to die. She turned around and saw Rigel Richards standing not far from there.
"Richards, you’re here."
A sweet little smile formed on her face. It was completely innocent. The ruthlessness she had when she ruthlessly destroyed the beautiful girl just now was gone. It felt like everything he witnessed not long ago was a hallucination.
In his eyes, Hilla Holt was a slender girl with a tall figure. She had the beauty and elegance of a true woman. If he had not personally witnessed how she had broken two built men’s limbs, he would not believe that the gentle woman was so swift, precise, and ruthless.
Rigel Richards averted his gaze and walked past Hilla to pick up the broken brush.
He wondered whether it was because he still had lingering fear in him, but when he recalled Hilla Holt’s skills, he subconsciously created a distance between them.
Hilla blinked innocently as she looked at him. She picked out a new brush and started to paint.
"I saw what happened the other day, and I also heard what happened earlier."
A while later, Rigel opened his mouth and spoke. Hilla turned her head over in surprise and looked at him strangely.
What was he trying to tell her?
Rigel was embarrassed by her gaze. He awkwardly coughed and continued to paint while he said, "If you need help, I can be your witness."
"She was behind the attempted kidnapping, and she wanted to harm you. It’s clearly against the law. Not even the university would take matters into their own hands."
Hilla smiled. She looked nonchalant, as if It looked like everything he just said had nothing to do with her. Rigel frowned. His handsome and honest face carried a sense of maturity that no one could ignore.
"You won’t report this to the police?"
If Hilla wanted to, she would not have said such vicious words to frighten Felicia Fortis.
The only uncertainty was whether the woman would completely stop with her actions after she learned her lesson.
"I’m alright. At most, it was an attempted kidnapping. If they form some other excuse, I’ll just be locked for around ten days before I’m released. Felicia just wanted to get married into a rich family and be above me in terms of status. Sadly, the owner of that securities company already has a family. He could not simply divorce his wife and marry Felicia. In a way, she’s pretty unlucky."
When Felicia Fortis was trying to hurt Hilla, Hilla was still thinking about her and her misfortune.
Rigel was stunned. He looked into her profound eyes and replied after some time, "You’re not what I thought you are."
Hilla turned and smiled at him. She said, "You must have thought that I’m some kind of pure girl, didn’t you? Sadly, I’m not a kind person. If she tries anything again, I’ll break her arms or legs. See how poisonous I am? Honestly, I might look pure, but I’m a ruthless person."
The fierce look on Hilla’s face made Rigel’s lips twitch a little. He redirected his gaze to his own painting. His long fingers had clear, distinctive joints, and as he held the brush, he could not help but tighten his grip over the brush.
The two got busy for the entire afternoon, and she finished her assignments that had piled up during her break from the university. Hilla raised her head to look at the gloomy skies. She could not help but frown before stating, "It looks like it’s going to rain."
As soon as she said that, the skies cooperated and droplets of rain started to drizzle down. It was even more accurate that those TV shows with Mary Sue plots.
"It’s raining. I’ll be going now."
If the rain got any worse, Hilla feared that the route back to the Anderson mansion would be tough to drive on.
The previous time she drove on that road, she had encountered a boulder, though it was placed there by humans. If it rained heavily this time, the mountainous route back to the Anderson mansion might suffer from a mudslide.
Hilla dumped the drawing board and ran out. Rigel stared at her leaving. Then, he kept everything away and left.
The storm came sooner than Hilla’s prophetic mouth could speak. Thunder and lightning instantly bolted across the sky, and the entirety of New Island was blanketed in darkness.
Rain droplets smashed against the roof of the car, creating annoying thumps and pings. The rain that struck the windshield rolled down as if they were in a hurry.
Hilla looked at the road nervously, but she was thinking about the road back to the Anderson mansion. Would boulders roll down from the high ground?
Bruce Anderson was now awake, but his body was still so weak that he could not get off the bed. Only Hilla knew about Bruce Anderson waking up, and if she did not return home that day, Bruce Anderson might starve to death on his very own bed.
Naturally, Hilla did not want to indirectly turn into a murderer. Her heart sank a little.
She then accidentally saw the wet road outside the window.
On the highway that stretched all the way to the countryside outside the eastern wall of the university, Hilla spotted a grayish figure curled up at the corner of the wall, and that figure was shivering in the rain.
The little figure tried to escape a few times, and yet it was always forced back by strong rain.
The red Maserati stopped by the roadside and very quickly, Hilla ran out from the car.
The strong rainfall outside the car literally drenched Hilla thoroughly in seconds. She could only quicken her pace as she hurried over to the poor little figure cowering against the wall.
On a roadside not far away, Rigel was sitting inside a car. His eyes were fixed on the slender figure that ran through the heavy rain as she ferried something in her embrace back into her car.
"Young Master, the madam’s birthday party is about to begin!"
The driver in front urged him to give the order to move. Rigel averted his gaze back into the car and when the red car in front of his own disappeared into the rain, he said, "Let’s go home."
...
"Don’t be afraid. I’ll take you home now!"
Hilla looked at the two puppies on the seat and delivered a sweet smile, though her hair was dripping down her back.
On the front passenger seat, the two little dogs that were just a month old were cuddling up against each other, groaning for food and trembling in the darkness.
"Poor little things. Who left you here? It is cold, isn’t it? Don’t be afraid. We will be home soon."
Hilla said to herself as she looked at the two puppies beside her. There was heavy rain with thunders and it was wet and cold everywhere outside.
Inside the car, it was warm for Hilla after she turned up the heating. As the flash of lightning illuminated her red car, it plotted a delicate bright curve at the rainy night. Hilla sped up and carefully drove on the mountain road.
To be honest, she thought that it was inconvenient for the Andersons to live on the mountainside.
Hilla was cautious on the way. As soon as she drove into the Andersons’ courtyard, Orlenna quickly came over even though the rain was pouring.
"For god’s sake, you are back. If there’s bad weather next time, just stay in the hotel. You don’t have to go back all the time."
Although the Andersons often had the road cleaned and there were seldom rolling stones, Orlenna was worried because she heard that Hilla was blocked by a stone once. What was more, the torrential rain tonight made her feel even sorry and guilty.
If it wasn’t for Bruce’s illness, they could have moved to the city and didn’t have to live with them here.
"Mom, I’m fine. Anyway, I drive. I will be cautious."
"What happened to your clothes and hair? You are all soaked. Get the soup prepared for you from the kitchen. Then, go take a hot bath. Or you will have a cold again."
Orlenna was shocked when she saw Hilla who was drenched.
She didn’t expect that Hilla would get soaked because she was in the car.
Hilla nodded with a smile and took the puppies out of the car.
"Mom, aren’t they cute?"
Hilla looked like an innocent girl with that pure pretty smile under the light.
Orlenna was surprised to see the poor dirty puppies in her arms, guessing, "So she was soaked because of the two dogs!"
"Yes, they really are. Give them to me. Go upstairs to take a shower and eat something."
Orlenna smiled and asked someone to take the two puppies, pushing Hilla upstairs to change her clothes.
Hilla walked into the room. The light in the whole room was dim. Bruce was lying quietly in the bed, his thin lips pursed, as if he was sleeping tight.
Turning on the crystal chandelier, Hilla took the clean clothes and glared at the person in the bed. "No need to pretend. Your mother didn’t come in."
Bruce immediately opened his eyes, but he only saw a figure flashing past him to the bathroom. Then he turned to the window to see the outside.
It was still raining. The raindrops wetted the balcony and splattered on the window. She actually came back on the night of such heavy rain!
After taking a bath, Hilla put on a loose bathrobe and stuck her head out of the bathroom. "Are you hungry? Tell me what you want. I will bring it for you. By the way, I want to keep some food in the room. Then you won’t starve even if I am late."
Fixing her clothes, Hilla swaggered out of the bathroom.
Taking a glance over her long wet hair, Bruce pursed his lips and said, "You don’t have to come back in such a heavy rain."
He thought, "I won’t starve in my own house. If there’s something wrong, I will call Horton over."
Hilla said, "I had something to settle at school today, so I came back late. But I know you didn’t eat anything during the day. If I didn’t come back, you might starve!"
Hilla had a lush life since she was a child, but she had done stupid things like hunger strike when she quarreled with her parents. So she knew it felt bad when she was hungry.
Bruce’s eyes were filled with tears. He asked in a low voice with a doubt, "You came back for me?"
"Of course, is there anything else in the Anderson family that I need to worry about?"
She married Bruce to take care of him. As Orlenna had said, she had to take good care of him and think of everything he might need.
After all, eating was the most fundamental part.
Bruce sat up and called her, "Come here!"
"What’s wrong? Are you feeling bad? Do you want me to get water for you to wipe yourself?"
Hilla no longer needed to help him wipe his body since he woke up. It spared some troubles for her.
Hilla walked over as he said. Before she could stand firm, Bruce grabbed her wrist and pulled her over.
Hilla wanted to break his arm, but she realized that Bruce was weak. So she let it go at that and fell onto the bed.
Hilla straightened her back to show that she wouldn’t move a bit forward.
All of a sudden, her head was covered by a towel and it blocked her sight.
She could feel Bruce’s big gentle hands through the towel. He said in a hoarse voice as he wiped her hair, "After taking a shower, you should wipe the water off your hair."
"Don’t worry. It will dry off itself, anyway."
Hilla grunted. She thought maybe it was because the room was heated that she felt burning hot on her face.
Her heart beat so rapidly that she felt it was out of control. The bed was also so hot that she felt disturbed. How could she be so nervous? "Don’t move."
Bruce’s fingers gently passed through her hair, allowing her long hair to wrap around his fingers.
"You can call me if you had things to do at school and you don’t need to come back if it’s too late."
His gentle words with his deep voice made Hilla nervous. She sat still on the bed, pinching her bathrobe, and said yes.
"Then I’ll call you next time."
Hilla puffed up her cheeks. She was so nervous that she almost forgot to breathe. It was the first time she had been so close to the aggressive man. She even smelled the same shower gel as her on his body.
The driving rain struck at the window while the room was warm and peaceful.
Bruce kept wiping her hair.
The crystal chandelier on top of their heads shone with a soft light. There was a faint fragrance of refined oil in the room.
Hilla looked at the two figures reflected on the window and gave a smile. For a moment, she felt that they were the perfect couple in the world!
