CHAPTER 80: HERE BRUCE COMES

On the way back to the Anderson’s, Orlenna put her hand over her chest in discomfort and panted at Margaret. "Bag..."

"Bag is here! Mom, are you okay? Do you get irritated or feel unwell?"

Orlenna nodded and pointed to the bag before her, "Medicine!"

"OK, I’ll get it for you. Mom, although Bruce is having an affair, don’t be furious."

Margaret said as she hurriedly took out the medicine box from the bag.

Orlenna took the medicine. After a long while, she felt a little better. William then said nervously, "Mrs. Anderson, shall we go to the hospital?"

Orlenna was irritated, so it was useless to go to the hospital.

Orlenna rolled her eyes, shook her head, grabbed Margaret, and asked angrily, "Tell me the truth. What exactly happened between Bruce and Riya? Didn’t she go abroad?"

Margaret took a look at Orlenna to make sure that she would not get sick again, and then whispered, "Riya returned two days ago. I heard that Bruce went to pick her up at the airport in the heavy rain, and they even went to the hotel. Bruce came back at dawn that day, so Hilla was furious."

How sensitive and well-informed she was! The next day after the relationship between Hilla and Bruce started to go wrong, Margaret had figured it out after talking to more than a dozen servants.

Margaret used to think that everything was under the control of Orlenna, but she didn’t expect that Orlenna didn’t know anything nor did she notice that Bruce was doing something wrong.

Well, she was the most obedient in the Anderson’s!

Orlenna didn’t have to spend much time worrying about her since she was a child among all the children in the Anderson’s, but Orlenna has always shown partiality to Bruce.

"What? Did they go to...the hotel? Why didn’t I know? Since you knew that, why didn’t you tell me earlier?"

Orlenna remembered how haggard and pitiful Hilla was that day, and it was clear that her eyes were swollen from crying.

Orlenna did not comfort Hilla but blamed her for not being pregnant. It seemed that she would lose not only her grandson but also Hilla!

Margaret felt aggrieved at being blamed for no reason, so she immediately pouted, "The one who went to the hotel with his ex-girlfriend is Bruce, not me. I can’t take the blame for him. If you want to blame someone, blame him. Mom, you can’t be so biased."

"Don’t reason with me now. Bruce is about to become single again. Can’t you see that Hilla is not willing to return to the Anderson’s with me?"

Orlenna was so angry that she pinched Margaret, and then Margaret squawked and quickly kept herself apart from Orlenna.

"Why did you pinch me?"

When one had a daughter, his daughter was the apple of his eyes. However, although Margaret was the only girl in the Anderson’s, Orlenna often despised her.

If it weren’t for the fact that people had said that Margaret looked like Orlenna, Margaret would take a paternity test to check whether she was Orlenna’s child.

"You’re almost thirty years old, yet you can’t even get into a university. Aren’t you ashamed?"

Margaret blew up when Orlenna touched her on the raw, especially when Orlenna made up her age, as the age of a woman was very important to her whole fortune.

"Mom, I have told you many times that I am twenty -five years old. And what do you mean I can’t get into college? I passed the test and gained admission to the university. However, it is difficult to gain enough credits to graduate. How can you blame me? It is Bruce..."

"How can you blame anyone else? How can I give birth to such a stupid daughter like you? Have you rotted?"

It was clear that Orlenna had directed vented her rage at Bruce on Margaret.

Orlenna could not catch Bruce now, and even if she found Bruce, she had to save his face.

Margaret was scolded for long. Before she was determined to jump out of the car, they have arrived at the Anderson’s.

"I am kind enough to tell you that, but you vent your anger on me. Mrs. Anderson, you can’t be so biased. Otherwise, you will suffer social and moral condemnation."

After that, Margaret got out of the car and scuttle off. Orlenna was so angry that she even wanted to kick Margaret out.

Orlenna beat her chest and said to William, "Call Bruce. Ask him to come back tonight. And tell him that if Hilla didn’t come back, he couldn’t stay here anymore."

Since Hilla have left, Bruce couldn’t give birth to a child alone. It was better to kick him out so that Orlenna wouldn’t be irritated.

At night in the countryside, Hilla stoked up the fire in the stove, sat down beside the table, and stretched her legs into a blanket with Halle.

They gathered around the table and were watching TV while making an apple pie.

"Halle, is it okay? It seemed so sticky."

Hilla frowned as she looked at the crust that was fixed to her fingers.

They bought sugar, cream, and apples, and Halle was about to mix the stuffing for the apple pie. Halle got peeled apples thinly sliced, and then gave the bones they bought to Candy and Cookie.

Candy and Cookie became acclimatized to the countryside more quickly than Hilla.

They were rolling around in the woodpile, and their shiny and clean fur was also covered with dirt.

Halle took the crust with a smile and asked Hilla to wash her hands. After that, Halle gave Hilla a spoon and said, "You should just mix the filling ingredients. It is a bit difficult for you to prepare the crust."

Hilla pouted. "I’m not as good as you. And I don’t like cooking because it’s too troublesome."

The most important thing was Hilla couldn’t stand her hands that she used to draw were thick with grease.

"You should just wait to eat!"

"No, you can’t hold a knife when you are pregnant. I can chop the meat and do anything that requires a knife."

Halle smiled and did not stop her but watched her clumsily mix the filling ingredients.

After the stuffing was prepared, Halle added some seasoning to it. When she looked out of the window, she suddenly saw a hazy shadow flash through the courtyard.

Suddenly, Candy and Cookie barked. Just when Hilla and Halle were surprised, the door was pushed open, and then a person walked in!

...

Hilla saw their neighbor, who was standing at the door with a plate of stewed ribs, and smiled sweetly, "Lilian, why are you here?"

On the first day when Halle brought her here, she first got to know these neighbors. And Lilian was the most enthusiastic and straightforward, so Hilla remembered her first.

Hilla and Halle were not surprised to see her because people in the countryside often dropped around, and Hilla also enjoyed the friendliness and enthusiasm of the people here.

Noticing that Hilla and Halle were making an apple pie, Lilian washed her hands and sat down beside the table to help them.

"My son wants to eat meat, so I made a pot of ribs stew. Since we can’t eat it all, I share some with you."

Lilian looked at the scattered crusts on the table and was shocked, "Who made this? Why is it so ugly?"

Hilla blushed and whispered, "It’s my first try, so I’m still new at it."

Lilian looked at Hilla and burst into laughter. "Hilla, you are too stupid. I can cook, make pies, mow the grass, and feed the pigs and sheep when I am six years old, but you can’t even make pies now."

Hilla felt even more ashamed and embarrassed.

She had never thought that she was stupid before, but now she felt that she was indeed quite stupid.

Lilian was a straightforward person. Noticing that Hilla was embarrassed, she laughed, "Hilla, I could tell that you have led a sheltered life and did not do this at home, while Halle is much more capable than you."

"Halle had suffered a lot."

In the past, Hilla only felt that Halle was unhappy in the Tyson’s. She didn’t realize that Halle must have suffered a lot in the Tyson’s and she must have had a rough time when she lived alone after she left the Tyson’s until now.

Ever since they were young, Hilla and Halle have had a sheltered upbringing. Other than drawing and making clothes, their parents had never forced them to do anything.

"You are so beautiful. If you got marry, you could live a happy life. The girl from the east side of the countryside is not as beautiful as you, but she married the richest man in our countryside and has been living a good life. Two days ago, she drove back to her house.

"By the way, Halle, do you have a boyfriend? It’s not easy to find a boyfriend at your age here. You are not young, so you have to get one quickly."

People in the countryside got married at a young age. The girl was engaged before she was twenty. And when she was at the lowest legal age for marriage, they would hold a wedding. Therefore, if Halle had yet to get married at her age, it would be difficult for her to find a good partner.

Halle smiled, "I get married."

She had been married and had experienced that kind of life, so she did not want to experience it again.

She got married at an ignorant and young age. Later, she realized that marriage was not as happy as she thought.

"I knew it. You’re so beautiful. How could you not get married? But my husband didn’t believe that because he said he hadn’t seen your husband after you came here."

Hilla peeped at Halle and found Halle smiled broadly. Halle had experienced too many things like this, and not all the people who asked her this question were full of malice.

Halle resisted to answer at first, but she could smile and reply lightly now, "I’m here to set up a factory. I heard that the people in the countryside can produce and dye cloth and people in the neighboring countryside can cultivate silkworms, right?"

Halle could easily distract her. As expected, Lilian nodded and said, "Yes, it turns out that you are the female boss. Oh my god, I once wondered why you come here since you are as beautiful as the movie stars on TV."

Hearing her exaggerated expression, Hilla laughed, "Yes, Lilian, you are right. Halle is indeed a female boss."

Lilian was stunned, and then she also laughed, "So many luxury cars parked before your house all day long. I once thought you are..."

"Who do you think we are? A mistress for the rich in town?"

Hilla squinted and asked the question that everyone in the countryside wanted to ask with a smile.

She looked inoffensive but was in fact shrewd.

It was very difficult for women to be on their own, especially for those who were young and physically attractive like Hilla and Halle.

This kind of misunderstanding wasn’t surprising to Hilla and Halle, so they were not angry but sighed as there was still a long way in the future.

Lilian waved in embarrassment, "No, I didn’t think that. I thought that you are here for vacation. I thought you rented a small yard to experience life.

"I thought you would leave after the holiday, and I didn’t expect you to set up a factory here. I am curious because there’s nothing here."

Hilla smiled and didn’t say anything. And Halle also didn’t mind. If they had to care about everyone, they would have died.

"It will take a long time to set up a factory. I will hire some local workers. Lilian, if you can, you can introduce those who are applying for a job to me."

Ordinary workers did not need any skills, so Halle should be able to handle them.

"Alright, I’ll keep an eye out for that. There will be a lot of people who don’t have a job in the countryside after the holiday."

Hilla came to the door with Lilian. Lilian then asked, "Hilla, do you have a lot of cars? Is that car yours? That car has been here for the whole night. They won’t rob us at midnight, will they?"

The countryside was not safe. Especially when the black car was hidden into the night, it was weird.

Hilla frowned after taking a glance at that car.

She recognized this car. In fact, there were many cars in the Anderson’s, but she could recognize every one of them at a glance.

Orlenna might not give up taking her back to the Anderson’s, so she asked William to wait here.

Hilla smiled and glanced at Lilian, "It is our car. Don’t worry."

"OK. I have to leave now. You can ask my husband for help whenever you need it."

Hilla smiled and nodded. After Lilian left, she turned around and slowly walked to the black car in the corner.

She had to tell William that she would not return to the Anderson’s for the time being.

As Hilla approached, the door was opened. And then a man dressed in a suit and had a noble bearing got out of the car. It was clear that the man was not William but Bruce!
