CHAPTER 19: CHAPTER 19: LIKE HELL I’LL DANCE WITH YOU

Lan Irving smiled and nodded, "Hmm."

Audrey Sutton didn’t expect Lan Irving to really admit it. She felt Lan Irving was provoking her.

"You tell me these things now, aren’t you afraid I’ll have my husband fire you?"

Lan Irving said indifferently, "Just right, we can see who is more important to him, me or you."

Audrey Sutton discovered that this Lan Irving really knew how to softly stab someone.

"You and him should just be a marriage of family interests, showing off your affection in public, but living separately behind closed doors. I’ve been with him for almost six years now, and I’d really like to know how he’d choose." Lan Irving finished, gracefully lifted her skirt, accepted an invitation from a foreigner, and stepped into the dance floor.

Audrey Sutton frowned as she watched this Lan Irving, she really wasn’t an easy target!

How could she dare ask Shane Warner to fire Lan Irving? It would only make Shane Warner think she was being irrational, deliberately picking on Lan Irving. Lan Irving might even seize the opportunity to turn the tables and act understanding.

Between being irrational and understanding, probably any man would prefer the latter.

She wasn’t foolish enough to jump into the pit Lan Irving had dug, but if Lan Irving wanted to play tricks with her, she’d play along!

"Beautiful lady, would you like to dance with me?" A western-faced man walked up to Audrey Sutton, extending his hand courteously and speaking in French.

Audrey Sutton understood, but wasn’t very good at French, and awkwardly replied, "I’m not very good."

Honestly, this man was quite handsome, with a bit of Jack from "Titanic" flavor, eyes deep, smile charming, like a prince from a fairy tale.

"Are you Chinese?" The man asked suddenly in perfect Chinese.

Audrey Sutton was surprised and widened her eyes, then smiled, "You speak Chinese? Quite fluently!"

The man chuckled, "My mother is Chinese, and I grew up in China. By the way, my name is Leo, my Chinese name is Spencer Forrest, and you?"

Audrey Sutton politely smiled and replied, "My name is... Anna Sutton."

Audrey Sutton made up a name on the spot, her second brother often said don’t tell strangers the truth.

Spencer Forrest chuckled, complimenting her, "A very cute name, just like you."

Audrey Sutton laughed, thinking how sweet-talking foreigners were.

"Would you like to dance? If not, I can teach you."

Audrey Sutton thought foreigners might just be more enthusiastic, kindly inviting her to dance; to refuse would probably appear impolite, so she stretched her hand towards his offered hand.

But before it landed on Spencer Forrest’s hand, someone tugged her arm backward, her body followed the force and retreated two steps, then a man’s voice sounded above her head, "Dance my foot, move aside."

Audrey Sutton didn’t expect these words would come from Shane Warner. Even when he swore, the tone was especially gentlemanly, making it seem polite to those who didn’t understand.

Audrey Sutton’s first reaction was to feel very impolite, she quickly apologized, "Sorry, he meant no harm, just..."

Spencer Forrest laughed, "No problem, Mr. Warner, long time no see."

Audrey Sutton was stunned, they knew each other?

Spencer Forrest continued, then looked at Audrey Sutton, asking him, "I heard you recently got married, is this your wife?"

Shane Warner pulled Audrey Sutton closer, coolly replied, "Can’t you tell?"

Spencer Forrest said, "No wonder, I was wondering where such a beauty came from, turns out to be Mr. Warner’s wife. If possible, I’d like to borrow Miss Sutton to dance."

"Impossible." Shane Warner refused without hesitation.

"That’s truly unfortunate." Spencer Forrest said, taking out a business card from his suit pocket, handed it to Audrey Sutton in front of Shane Warner, "My contact information is here, I’ll be visiting China soon, hope to see you again."

Audrey Sutton could feel Shane Warner’s icy gaze glaring at her, she felt awkward both in taking or not taking the card.

But she thought Shane Warner was already quite rude, moreover, the man didn’t do anything wrong but kept smiling, so out of courtesy, Audrey Sutton reached out and took the business card.

Before Spencer Forrest left, he gestured a phone call sign by his ear, implying for her to call him.

Audrey Sutton dryly chuckled and nodded.

After Spencer Forrest left, she resentfully glanced at Shane Warner’s sulky face.

"Not bad, just ten minutes in and you’ve already flirted with one."

Audrey Sutton was about to explain when she suddenly realized something, smiled at him and changed her words, "Are you jealous?"

Shane Warner snorted coldly, "It’s your words. Everyone knows we’re married now, you don’t let me wear a cuckold in public for reputation’s sake, you’d better not cuckold me either; I can’t afford that embarrassment."

Not getting the response she wanted, Audrey Sutton’s triumphant smile faded.

"Thinking of keeping the business card?" Shane Warner blankly eyed the black card in her hand.

Audrey Sutton pursed her lips, glanced down, she was just being courteous, had no intention of actually contacting Spencer Forrest.

But upon seeing the bold words on the card, she instantly changed her mind, "Animation film director?"

Shane Warner furrowed his brows tightly, ordered in a stern voice, "Throw it away!"

Audrey Sutton indifferently looked at him, deliberately provoking him, tucked the business card into her small bag held in her hand.

Unaware of the situation, Faye Xavier came over, cheerfully said, "Master Shane, aren’t you going to dance with sister-in-law?"

Shane Warner, "Dance your foot."

This time, judging from both his tone and expression, it was clear Shane Warner was swearing.

Watching Shane Warner walk away, Faye Xavier asked Audrey Sutton in bewilderment, "What is he angry about?"

Audrey Sutton said smilingly, "Who cares, let’s go dance."

Faye Xavier quickly waved his hands, "I wouldn’t dare, Master Shane would peel my skin for sure. Haha, I’ll go find a foreign beauty to play with."

In the blink of an eye, Faye Xavier slipped over to a fair-skinned, beautiful Serephina lass, Audrey Sutton couldn’t help but glance at Lan Irving still gracefully dancing in the ballroom.

Thinking, Faye Xavier does have some kindness towards Lan Irving, but looking at them both, it seems like there’s no deep emotional connection.

Lan Irving danced beautifully, with a nice figure, and standing out among the western faces, a rare oriental face became the focus of the ball.

If Lan Irving wasn’t holding on to Shane Warner, Audrey Sutton might appreciate her, but since Lan Irving said those words to her, Audrey Sutton looked at her with displeasure all around.

Looking around again, Shane Warner was nowhere to be found.

He brought her to the dance but didn’t care for her, what a jerk!
