Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 22: Shopping for My Husband
CHAPTER 22: CHAPTER 22: SHOPPING FOR MY HUSBAND
The next day, Audrey Sutton, who was still asleep, was woken up by a knock on the door.
She didn’t get up to open the door. Instead, she pulled the blanket over her head.
Shane Warner tried turning the door lock, and found it wasn’t locked.
He pushed the door open and discovered the curtains in the room were tightly drawn, not letting in any light, making it so dark that it was hard to tell it was already approaching eight outside.
Shane Warner walked to the bedside and pulled Audrey Sutton’s blanket: "I’m going out."
Upon hearing Shane Warner’s voice, Audrey Sutton suddenly woke up, lifted the blanket, and looked at him sleepily, blinking her eyes.
Shane Warner bent slightly and placed something on the bedside table, saying to her: "The code is on the note, I’ve got quite a busy day today, you explore the nearby area on your own, don’t go too far, I’ll try to be back for dinner with you."
Audrey Sutton rubbed her eyes, watching him take two steps towards the door, then suddenly turn back to ask her: "Can you manage to go out on your own? If not, I’ll ask Linda to stay with you."
Linda was another girl traveling with them this time, primarily serving as a French interpreter.
Audrey Sutton immediately said: "No need, I can do it myself."
Shane Warner looked at her doubtfully, thinking as long as she had money on her, there shouldn’t be much of a problem.
Besides, she’s clever enough; as long as she doesn’t get lost, it’ll be fine.
"Then I’m leaving, you get up early and have some breakfast."
Audrey Sutton nodded, listening to the door outside open and close again.
She stared at the ceiling in a daze for a while before slowly getting up from bed.
It wasn’t her first time abroad, but she’d always had someone with her before, this was her first time going out alone.
However, Audrey Sutton wasn’t timid, because the area was primarily for tourism, and almost everyone here was a tourist, and the shops probably had people who spoke Chinese.
After wandering on the street for a while, she walked into a men’s clothing store, just looking at the suit on the model at the entrance, it felt like a good store.
Although suits tend to look similar, the cuts are vastly different; a good suit can showcase a different aura at first glance.
When she walked into the store, estimating by her being an East Asian, just as expected, a salesperson who could speak Chinese approached: "Miss, are you picking out a gift for your boyfriend?"
Audrey Sutton nodded, but then corrected: "Buying for my husband."
The salesperson smiled and asked: "What color does Mr. usually like?"
Audrey Sutton thought about it; she really didn’t know what color Shane Warner liked, but his usual style seemed to lean towards darker colors. Although it suited his temperament, she wanted to buy him something special.
Her gaze swept around and locked onto a pink suit.
She thought of how her comic’s main character would look flashy wearing it.
However, just imagining Shane Warner in a pink suit sent a chill through her.
"Miss, do you like this set? It’s a new arrival in the store, a collaboration from FV, and the cufflinks are specially designed by GC gems for this suit, detailed yet full of grandiosity."
Audrey Sutton glanced at it, what the salesperson held was a gray and white pinstripe suit, subtly brightening, and it seemed Shane hadn’t really worn striped styles before.
It’s hard to say whether the shop’s items are too exquisitely made or if she thought Shane Warner’s good figure was like a mannequin; she believed any clothes wouldn’t look ugly on him.
So she didn’t bother picking any longer: "This one."
"What size does Mr. wear?"
The question stumped Audrey Sutton; she smiled and took out her phone: "Wait, let me ask."
She sent a message but didn’t get an immediate reply.
After waiting for two minutes, the store clerk said: "How tall and how heavy is Mr.?"
Audrey Sutton used her hand to gauge above her head, "About one eighty-five to one eighty-eight. As for the weight..."
She didn’t really have a concept of men’s height and weight, so after looking around, she pointed at the male mannequin beside her: "Seems about the same size as it."
The clerk brought out the size according to her description, packing it up while saying: "You can take it home to let Mr. try it on first, as long as you don’t remove the tags or wash it, if it doesn’t fit, you can come back and exchange it."
Audrey Sutton nodded, and it wasn’t until she swiped the card that she realized the suit cost over eighty thousand yuan.
But then she thought, after all, it’s not her card, so her heart didn’t ache as much.
She didn’t know if it was the clothes or the two little cufflink gems that were valuable.
However, the price was secondary; she wondered whether he would like it.
With the manuscript due tomorrow, after buying the clothes, Audrey Sutton didn’t wander the streets aimlessly any longer, she took a cab back to the hotel.
Originally, she thought Lan Irving should have gone to work together but unexpectedly ran into her at the elevator entrance on the hotel’s first floor.
Audrey Sutton didn’t greet her nor put on a friendly face, and stepped into the elevator.
Lan Irving followed her inside, looking down at the bag Audrey Sutton was holding after the elevator doors closed, she smiled and said: "He doesn’t like striped suits."
Audrey Sutton was stunned, then smirked and said to Lan Irving: "It depends on who buys it."
Lan Irving chuckled: "No need to pretend that you and he have a good relationship in front of me, couples with good relationships wouldn’t sleep in separate rooms, would they, Madam?"
Audrey Sutton thought she must have noticed last night when she brought clothes over and found out she and Shane Warner weren’t sleeping together?
"Secretary Irving, don’t pretend you know my husband well; last night it was me who didn’t want him to sleep with me. You know, little couple tiffs are normal, play fights add warmth, you wouldn’t understand since you’re not married."
Lan Irving smiled without saying anything, always putting on a face of magnanimity and understanding, which Audrey Sutton found very annoying.
When exiting the elevator, Lan Irving added: "I hope your marriage lasts."
"Of course, even if some people try all sorts of tricks every day, Shane and I will always be together."
Lan Irving smiled again, walked away without a word.
That smile seemed to confidently imply Audrey Sutton and Shane Warner’s marriage wouldn’t last long.
Audrey needed to stay calm; she was Shane Warner’s legitimate wife and couldn’t be thrown off by Lan Irving.
Looking again at the bag with the suit in her hand, she wondered, does he really not like stripes?
Audrey Sutton hesitated about whether to return it. For one, it felt troublesome, and for another, if Lan Irving doesn’t see Shane in this striped suit, Lan would smugly boast.
Whether Shane likes it or not, this suit must be worn by him! No matter what!
At the very least, wear it once and tuck it away; the money wasn’t from her pocket anyway.
In the conference room, Shane Warner sneezed, distractedly glanced at his phone and saw Audrey Sutton’s message asking about the size while also seeing the bank card deduction notice, indicating the clothes should have been bought.
Thinking for a bit, he replied asking: Still out browsing?
