CHAPTER 31: CHAPTER 31: HOT-TEMPERED SIXTH BROTHER

One week later.

On an early July morning, Audrey Sutton spent her weekend watching today’s financial news in front of the TV.

It’s not that she’s suddenly interested in finance, but today the person being interviewed is her husband.

On TV, the female host reported in a broadcaster’s accent.

"StarZone Jewelry Group is being listed today, entering the international market with a series of excellent original designs. Founder Shane Warner has made the brand successful in just three years, now ranking among the global top five in the industry. Today we are fortunate to have Mr. Shane Warner with us to share his successful experience. Over to you, Mr. Warner."

The camera switched to Shane, and Audrey immediately started snapping pictures with her phone, sharing them in various WhatsApp groups.

He was his usual self, too lazy to flash a polite smile even in front of the camera, holding the microphone and saying very officially, "There are no particular experiences or shortcuts, just do your best and act within your means."

Audrey pondered over his words carefully, feeling they were quite profound, seemingly understanding them only somewhat.

The host hadn’t anticipated him finishing so quickly, pausing before responding, "Mr. Warner is very modest. We all know Mr. Warner recently got married, but there seemed to be an incident at the wedding. It’s been almost a month now; could Mr. Warner share a bit about his story with his wife?"

Audrey thought at the time, knowing Shane’s style, he would most likely reply with "inconvenient" to get it over with.

As seen in the camera, he paused for a moment before saying, "We’re good."

"Could Mr. Warner describe his wife in one sentence?"

Shane looked towards the camera, as if speaking to someone watching, and casually said, "There is a beautiful woman within, radiantly blooming like peach and plum blossoms."

The host chuckled, "From this, we can tell Mr. Warner and his wife have a great relationship. Do you have any plans for a baby soon?"

"She’s still a child herself, so we’re not considering having children until she grows up."

Audrey didn’t know why but wondered why a financial channel would suddenly turn into entertainment gossip.

Perhaps because everyone is curious about these questions and it’s rare to get a chance to interview Shane Warner, so the show cleverly generated buzz with these questions.

For Audrey, even if his words were just for show in front of the camera, she still felt excited and thrilled listening to them.

Yet she wasn’t satisfied with his previous answer, disliking him treating her like a child. She wished he’d regard her as a woman, a mature woman.

Upon arriving at school, Barry Barrett and Flora teased Audrey, repeatedly saying, "In the southern land, there is a beauty, radiantly blooming like peach and plum blossoms."

This poem quickly spread across the campus, and Audrey’s appearance justified its description, turning her from low profile to a campus celebrity due to Shane Warner’s commendation in the interview.

Many male students from other departments came deliberately to Audrey’s classroom just to catch a glimpse of this "peach and plum" beauty.

Her photos were all over the school forum; she seemed to become a scenic spot on campus.

Of course, not everyone in school was friendly, especially some envious girls.

The school tieba had a post about a "wealthy family conspiracy theory," not naming anyone but using "Miss S" as a reference.

The post claimed Miss S, though sweet and innocent-looking, was actually a scheming witch, using her family’s background to break up Mr. Z’s love affair and take over.

Their marriage was merely a union of interests, and the sweetness before others was all an act; Z didn’t truly love S.

All those "There is a beautiful woman within, radiantly blooming like peach and plum blossoms" phrases were merely for show.

In the girls’ dormitory.

"Jealousy! Naked jealousy," Barry Barrett said indignantly, reading the post content.

Flora Lane sat on her chair, stirring coffee in her mug, "Someone actually believes such anonymous posts? I guess it’s that Beauty Sheffield stirring trouble, afraid Audrey’s stolen her spotlight, worried she’d lose her title as the campus queen, deliberately turning black."

Audrey lay on Barry Barrett’s bed, reading the comments below the post.

Just then, Barry Barrett snatched the phone away, "Audrey Sutton, why torture yourself? What’s there to see? These people are clearly talking nonsense, envying your beauty and your excellent husband."

Flora laughed, "If I weren’t your friend, I’d probably curse you too, because you’ve got everything I want. When people feel unbalanced, they want to create something to vent their emotions."

Audrey didn’t care about others’ misunderstandings. Whether they said she was pure or heartless, she didn’t mind because she knew who she truly was and wouldn’t change her lifestyle over a few words from them.

Her low spirits were not from the misunderstandings but because she knew Shane Warner genuinely didn’t love her; the public display of affection was indeed pretend.

Thus, seeing comments wishing for their quick divorce made her uncomfortable.

"Haha, Audrey, look, the post has been cleared!"

On hearing Flora’s words, Barry Barrett and Audrey checked the post again.

The comments shifted from chaotic to even more chaotic.

Watching Norman Sutton’s fighting spirit, Flora tutted, "These gamers are indeed different, battling everyone alone."

Clearly, Norman Sutton had mobilized his female fan base’s strength, and within minutes, the post was blood-washed, silencing the slandering voices gradually.

Audrey felt a sense of relief, but she knew it was only temporary relief.

To improve her relationship with Shane Warner, solidify their identities as a couple, and truly dispel these rumors.
