Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 350: Holding Another Wedding Ceremony
CHAPTER 350: CHAPTER 350: HOLDING ANOTHER WEDDING CEREMONY
Audrey Sutton walked over to the back of Shane Warner and took a peek, seeing that the picture in the book depicted a scene of the male and female leads kissing, inspired by the summer break when they almost had their first kiss on the rooftop back home.
Back then, it was interrupted by Norman Sutton, so it didn’t go further, but in the comic, it became the protagonists’ first kiss.
From certain angles, you could tell that Audrey Sutton felt regret about that kiss.
She seemed afraid that Shane Warner would notice this, so she reached out and closed the comic book in front of him, saying, "Let’s go, time for dinner, I’m so hungry."
Shane Warner looked up at her, "Aren’t you going to sign it for me?"
"I’ll sign it as much as you want when we get back." Audrey Sutton pulled him up from the stool and asked, "Do you still have any chocolates in your pocket?"
Shane Warner leaned sideways, gesturing for her to take it herself. Audrey Sutton reached into his suit pocket, felt around, and indeed found only two, which she took out.
While unwrapping the chocolate, Audrey Sutton playfully asked, "Which lady gave you these?"
Shane Warner shot her a glance and replied irritably, "I bought them."
Audrey Sutton smiled and asked him, "Why have you suddenly become so thoughtful? Flowers and chocolates both."
Shane Warner said, "I don’t want my woman to envy others."
Audrey Sutton paused, recalling the social media post she made that morning: Someone else’s happy day, my workday.
Below was a collage of screenshots from her friends’ posts showing the flowers and snacks they received, alongside a picture she took at the signing event.
She hadn’t intended to hint anything to Shane Warner, just wanted to express that while others were celebrating, she was working.
She didn’t expect Shane Warner would pay attention to it.
Audrey Sutton went back to the venue to pack the small gift boxes from fans into a cardboard box, while Shane Warner understandably came over and picked up the box. Audrey Sutton laughed, went over to pick up the large bouquet of roses, and weighed it in her hands, finding it noticeably heavier than the box. She looked at Shane Warner and said, "Want to switch? This one is heavier."
Shane Warner glanced at her, adjusted the position of the cardboard box, and with one hand holding the box, he took the bouquet from her other hand without swapping.
After all, if someone saw them walking out with her holding a box and him carrying a bouquet, it might turn into another online sensation titled "Third Young Master’s Wife Unloved by Wealthy Family" or something like that.
Audrey Sutton saw his actions and merely smiled, hooked her arm through his, and asked, looking up, "What are we having for dinner tonight?"
"I’ll cook for you when we get home."
"A candlelight dinner?"
He smiled and replied lightly, "Wouldn’t be impossible."
Audrey Sutton thought he might say something dismissive about fanciful things, but instead, it seemed like he had suddenly become more accommodating to her.
Once in the car, Audrey Sutton fastened her seatbelt and played a light-hearted English song, watching as he backed the car out of the parking spot and onto the road, before saying, "You gave me flowers, I ate the chocolate, isn’t there still a step missing?"
Shane Warner turned to look at her, a mischievous smile curling his lips, "What step? You’re getting bolder, aren’t you? It’s not even dark yet, and the traffic police are still on duty — want to pull over to the side of the road for that?"
Audrey Sutton rolled her eyes at him, "What are you thinking?! I was saying you forgot to say something!"
Shane Warner raised an eyebrow, feigning confusion.
Audrey Sutton prompted him, "What day is it today? Aren’t you supposed to say something to me?"
Shane Warner understood what she meant but didn’t follow her lead, only saying, "Why are you so fixated on this? Just a few words, can they outweigh my usual kindness to you?"
Audrey Sutton pouted, "Precisely because you never say it, I hold onto it so tightly. Besides, you’re always so good to me, saying ’I love you’ wouldn’t hurt."
Shane Warner: "I just won’t say it."
"Hmph, then I won’t say it to you anymore either!"
Shane Warner smiled lightly but still didn’t say "I love you."
Audrey Sutton wasn’t truly angry with him. In the past, she might have felt upset for a while, but now she knew very well that he liked her. It was just that, out of pride, he wanted to maintain his aloof image, and that’s why he wouldn’t say it.
In reality, she’d long since figured out what he was like in private, proper in public and flirtatious in private.
That evening, he indeed fulfilled her offhand request by digging out a dusty candlestick at home to set up the candlelight dinner she wanted.
Audrey Sutton took a photo of the romantic dinner table, then pulled him in for a selfie that she posted on social media, captioned: Delicious things should be eaten; loved ones kept in the heart.
She seldom showed off her relationship online, initially because there was no love to showcase. At that time, her relationship with Shane Warner was unstable, on the verge of a possible divorce, and she was afraid of inviting ridicule by showing off.
Later on, when she and Shane Warner confirmed their relationship, she felt there was no need to flaunt it. They were content being together every day, everything unrelated to the outside world.
During dinner, they both had some wine, not enough to get drunk, but enough for her cheeks to blush from the alcohol, which stirred Shane Warner’s heart.
The house lights were off, only the flickering candlelight casting gentle shadows on her face.
Shane Warner dabbed his mouth with a napkin, looked at Audrey Sutton, who was still focused on her pasta after finishing her steak, and said in a low, hoarse voice, "Let’s find a day to hold a wedding ceremony again, shall we?"
Audrey Sutton froze mid-twirl of her pasta, looking up at him in disbelief, "A wedding?"
Shane Warner nodded lightly, "Yeah."
Seeing he was serious, Audrey Sutton immediately smiled, though she found it a bit odd, "What’s gotten into you? You’re actually the one bringing this up."
Shane Warner folded his hands on the table, looking at her earnestly with a faint smile, "Consider it as owing you a wedding, sooner or later it has to be repaid."
Audrey Sutton laughed, put down her fork, and wiped her mouth with a napkin, saying, "Actually, I’ve wanted to bring it up with you for a while, but didn’t because I thought you’d find it troublesome. Didn’t expect you to have the same thought."
Shane Warner: "Then let’s wait for the summer break and hold it in your hometown."
Audrey Sutton nodded repeatedly as if he’d hit the nail on the head, "I always thought that when I get married, it should be on the island. It’s really beautiful there."
"There’s still some time to get ready."
Audrey Sutton smiled warmly at him, saying, "Why do I feel like you’ve suddenly become enlightened today?"
Shane Warner looked at her and said, "Whatever you have in mind or any requests, just bring it up directly, no need to keep it bottled up."
