Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 352: Learning to Swim
CHAPTER 352: CHAPTER 352: LEARNING TO SWIM
Audrey Sutton didn’t expect that the lady boss who appeared quite young already had children in kindergarten.
The two kids were especially adorable.
Following their mom’s instructions, the little girl stood on a small stool, holding a cup and a kettle to pour water into the cup.
Her skilled manner clearly showed it wasn’t her first time helping around the shop.
After pouring a cup, the little girl handed it directly to the boy beside her, commanding, "Here, you take it over."
The little boy seemed still upset that his sister ratted him out, but he didn’t let his emotions get in the way of the task, and he carefully took the cup from his sister’s hands to bring it over to Audrey Sutton.
Phoebe King and Audrey Sutton kept watching the two kids with smiles. Phoebe King said, "These little ones are really cute. So when are you and Shane having one?"
Audrey Sutton pouted, "My belly just isn’t cooperating."
Phoebe King teased, "Is it you who can’t do it, or Shane?"
"You better not let him hear that, or I’ll be in trouble when I get home."
Seeing the little boy approaching, they both naturally ended their adult conversation.
The little boy, who seemed mischievous earlier, was now very well-behaved as he handed over the cup: "Sister, have some tea."
Audrey Sutton took the cup with a smile, looking at the little boy in front of her, feeling more and more familiar.
The little boy ran back to get the second cup of water his sister had poured and brought it over again.
Audrey Sutton studied this little boy again, and suddenly, he resembled a face she had in her mind.
After the boy turned and walked away, Audrey Sutton asked Phoebe King, "Sister Phoebe, don’t you think this kid looks like my third brother?"
Phoebe King hadn’t looked carefully before. Hearing Audrey Sutton say this, she took a more careful look at the boy: "He does look a bit like him, especially the eyes and mouth."
"You haven’t seen my third brother’s childhood photos; they really look identical!"
Phoebe King cheekily suggested, "Could he be your third brother’s illegitimate child?"
"Don’t say such nonsense; it wouldn’t be good if someone hears." As she spoke, Audrey Sutton glanced at the lady boss who was busy blending perfumes, fortunately, she hadn’t listened to their murmuring.
Despite their young age, these two kids seemed particularly sensible.
Earlier, when they arrived, they were pestering their mom noisily, but now that they saw their mom busy, they played quietly by themselves.
When they saw customers arriving, they even took the initiative to serve them.
Seeing this, Audrey Sutton became even more eager for a child with Shane Warner, convinced that their child would surely be well-behaved too.
Originally, she was torn between wanting a boy or a girl, but seeing this brother and sister, now she wished for a pair of twins, a boy and a girl.
But now, she didn’t hope for such a rare occurrence; all she wished for was some movement in her belly, not caring whether it was a boy or a girl.
When leaving, Audrey Sutton added the lady boss on WhatsApp, so that next time they ran out of perfume, she could just get it blended directly, and come over to pick it up.
Phoebe King drove her home, staying for dinner before leaving.
The past couple of days had been a bit muggy, so they occasionally had to turn on the air conditioning.
After tidying up the kitchen, Audrey Sutton took General and Shane Warner for a walk around the yard.
Looking at the pool under the lights with its crystal blue water, Audrey Sutton walked over to the lounge chair by the pool, enjoying the night breeze, lying down and not wanting to move. She looked at Shane Warner, who followed her, and said, "It’d be nice to have a glass of red wine."
Shane Warner gave her a look, clearly understanding her hint for him to go inside and get the wine.
"You’re in a special period right now. You might have something in your belly without knowing it; no drinking."
Bringing this up, Audrey Sutton gently touched her flat belly: "There’s nothing there! Not a peep."
"Are you still taking those pills?" Shane Warner suddenly asked.
Without thinking, Audrey Sutton replied, "Why would I still take them? You’re the one saying you want a child."
Shane Warner sat on the chair next to her, calmly saying, "When I was tidying up in the morning, I saw pills in the drawer, thought maybe you were secretly taking them."
Audrey Sutton: "Oh, those were bought earlier, just throw them away."
Finally, Audrey Sutton leaned back in the lounge chair, muttering lazily, "Why would you suspect I’m secretly taking pills? I’m more eager than you."
Shane Warner turned his head to look at her, hesitant to say more.
He wanted to ask about those photos, but was afraid that once the bubble burst, this dream would shatter.
"Do you want to swim?" Shane Warner looked at the expansive pool; the water seemed calm but rippled gently with the night wind.
Audrey Sutton lay lazily, showing no interest in moving: "I’m not swimming."
"I’ll teach you."
"Not learning, I don’t like water getting up my nose."
Shane Warner understood her aversion came from fear and past trauma, but lately, he felt a desire to create special memories for her. He thought, if things went wrong, at least she could look back and remember these moments.
Shane Warner got up, went into the house to fetch a large inflatable swim ring, quickly inflated it, and walked over to fit it around her.
Audrey Sutton frowned, glanced at him, and grumbled, "What are you doing?"
He was now wearing just a pair of black swim trunks, showing off his well-built physique to Audrey Sutton.
Audrey Sutton was pulled up from the chair by him, led towards the pool.
She quickly grabbed the pool railing, feeling anxious and fearful, "I’m not going down, you swim by yourself; I’ll just watch."
"What’s there to fear with me around? Once you learn to swim, you won’t be scared of water anymore."
Audrey Sutton followed his reasoning, "Anyway, since you can swim, just rescue me if I fall in."
Hearing this, Shane Warner paused and sighed deeply, suddenly taking on a fatherly tone: "No one can promise to be by your side all the time; saving yourself is the best way."
"You talk like you’re planning to leave me."
Shane Warner didn’t continue, just pried her hands from the railing: "Come over here quickly."
Though she didn’t verbally refuse anymore, her feet were stubbornly resisting, hesitatingly looking at him with pleading eyes, silently expressing her inner reluctance.
Shane Warner didn’t pull her into the water aggressively, instead, he climbed down the pool ladder himself, standing where the water level only reached his hips, looking at her from the water’s edge, saying: "It’s not deep, come down."
Audrey Sutton clutched the swim ring, hesitantly unable to take a step.
"Come on, if you don’t want to learn today, just come down and soak in the water with the swim ring." Shane Warner coaxed patiently.
Audrey Sutton paused, then ran into the house with the swim ring, saying, "I’m going to change into my swimsuit!"
Originally, Shane Warner thought she was going to escape, but hearing her say that, he looked at her retreating figure with a gratified smile, though it faded within two seconds.
