Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 409: Miss Sutton, I Like You
CHAPTER 409: CHAPTER 409: MISS SUTTON, I LIKE YOU
Morgan Quinn followed Shane Warner’s previous instructions and explained the process to Audrey Sutton.
Audrey Sutton listened with a knowing smile, glancing at Lucian Quinn and then at Flora Lane, one of the three sisters chatting over there, "Mor, I didn’t expect you to be quite the romantic! Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to bring her tomorrow."
"Thanks in advance. You can go have fun; I’ll find my brother, and start preparing at the site."
Audrey Sutton nodded, "Get to it then."
The three women giggled at Audrey Sutton’s side, and when they saw her swimming over with a float, they immediately changed the topic and pretended not to know anything. Flora Lane said to Audrey Sutton, "Audrey, let’s find a place to eat, I’m starving."
...
Lucian Quinn returned to Shane Warner, who had been following his movements. Seeing Mor approach, he asked, "How did it go?"
Mor nodded, "All set, tomorrow at eight, Celestia Plaza."
Shane Warner immediately turned to Faye Xavier, "You can go prepare now."
Faye Xavier pouted, "All the good parts go to someone else, but I’m stuck with all the errands."
Shane Warner gave him a side glance and said coolly, "Booking a ticket back to work now?"
Faye Xavier immediately chuckled, "I enjoy running errands, especially for Master Shane."
With that, he grabbed Morgan Quinn, who was playing games, "Come on, let’s take care of Master Shane’s affair."
Morgan Quinn said, "Hold your horses, I’m in the final round."
No sooner had he spoken than Morgan Quinn uttered a curse, closed his phone angrily, and started venting about his teammates to Faye Xavier as they went downstairs.
Everything was proceeding as planned; Shane Warner imagined Audrey Sutton’s shocked yet moved expression, and his lips couldn’t help but curl up slightly.
The next day.
Audrey Sutton had been secretly keeping in touch with Lucian Quinn, asking about the situation on his end.
During the day, Audrey Sutton took a couple of her friends to a nearby adult amusement park. The location wasn’t far from Celestia Plaza, and in the evening, she used the excuse of having dinner there to bring them over.
Her plan was to walk leisurely after dinner and subtly lead Flora Lane to the spot Morgan Quinn had arranged.
Celestia Plaza was at the center of the business district, arguably the most bustling shopping area on Driftwood Isle, surrounded by luxury stores and adjacent to the island’s landmark buildings.
In the southeast of the plaza was a giant screen for advertisements. By seven forty, Audrey Sutton had brought Flora Lane and others there, following Lucian Quinn’s plan that the confession video he designed would play on the screen at eight sharp.
So Audrey Sutton used the excuse of taking pictures at the plaza as a souvenir to keep Flora Lane and the others there.
Her heart was more nervous than Flora Lane’s; she had checked the time several times in just over ten minutes.
Seven fifty-nine.
Audrey Sutton turned to look at the advertisement screen behind her, which was still playing a perfume advertisement.
"Audrey, do you need to rush back? You’ve been checking the time all evening," Flora Lane knowingly teased Audrey Sutton.
Audrey Sutton hurried to explain, "My husband texted me; I’m replying to him, not checking the time."
Barry Barrett sighed, "I’ve just had my fill and you’re stuffing me with more romance, I can’t take it anymore."
Audrey Sutton laughed awkwardly, her attention wholly fixed on the advertisement screen, with no mind to bicker with them.
She glanced around, unsure where Lucian Quinn might emerge from later.
Surrounded by many tourists, some strolling hand in hand, others like them, taking photos at the plaza as a memento.
Everything remained peaceful and harmonious.
Until eight o’clock, right on time, the advertisements overhead interrupted, and a man’s voice emerged, "Mr. Shane Warner, will you take Miss Audrey Sutton as your wife? Through good times and bad, health and sickness, to care for her, cherish her, and remain loyal?"
Immediately, Shane Warner’s deep voice echoed from the screen, "I do."
The passersby, like Audrey Sutton, paused to watch the screen as the voice changed, showing the footage from their wedding.
A very hurried wedding...
The same words were asked of Audrey Sutton by the priest, as the footage showed her smiling at Shane Warner, almost without hesitation saying, "I do."
Watching the video now, Audrey Sutton realized her love for him shone through unmistakably at that time.
Audrey Sutton froze, momentarily unable to react; wasn’t Lucian Quinn confessing to Flora Lane? Why play the footage of her and Shane Warner’s wedding?
The people around began murmuring, reminiscent of old days when people gathered at an open-air cinema, stopping out of curiosity.
After the vows ended, the scene changed again as a familiar voice rang out.
Her voice, she recalled from Clarissa Morgan’s wedding, singing a duet with Shane Warner, "For You and Me."
As the song played, the screen transitioned through photographs.
Most were her pictures; some she remembered were taken when she was out with Shane Warner, asking him to take them. Some were photos she’d never seen before.
Audrey Sutton turned dumbfoundedly to look at Flora Lane beside her, still unclear what it meant, but Flora Lane and the others seemed unsurprised, smiling at her.
The photos on the screen seemed to recount their memories from over a year together.
Reminded of what they’d been through the past month, almost losing each other...
Audrey Sutton’s eyes welled up as she fixed her gaze on the advertisement screen, unable to look away...
The chatter around sounded indistinct to her; her mind was a whirlwind, unable to decipher what was being discussed.
She didn’t notice the crowd silently parting to make way.
Shane Warner, dressed in a striped suit she bought overseas for him, carrying a large bouquet of bright red roses, walked up from behind Audrey Sutton.
Audrey Sutton finally noticed him, covering her mouth in surprise, stepping back, never expecting Shane Warner to appear.
"Miss Sutton, I like you. Would you go out with me?" he asked politely, smiling, extending the fragrant roses to her.
Audrey Sutton smiled through tears, glanced at the onlookers, embarrassed, "What are you doing?! Didn’t you say you wouldn’t come anytime soon? You tricked me again."
Though her words sounded like complaints, her eyes and expressions were filled with happiness.
Shane Warner gazed at her unwaveringly, glancing at the bouquet she hadn’t taken yet, teasing, "Not accepting my confession?"
