Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 410: Drowning Together in the Mire
CHAPTER 410: CHAPTER 410: DROWNING TOGETHER IN THE MIRE
Audrey Sutton looked at him with tears in her eyes, reached out to take his flowers, and felt like her heart was filled with honey. She glanced around at the people taking pictures, blushing as she glanced at him and whispered, "I wasn’t prepared at all, I didn’t even wear something beautiful out."
"It’s beautiful enough," he said, suddenly dropping to one knee.
Audrey looked down and saw him kneeling on one knee, pulling out a ring box from somewhere unknown. He didn’t show a big smile, but there was a hint of amusement in his eyes. Audrey couldn’t resist this look of his, finding him irresistibly handsome.
The happiest moment must be when a man who makes her swoon is on one knee in front of her, holding a beautiful ring, asking her, "Miss Sutton, will you marry me?"
Audrey Sutton broke into laughter through her tears, which wouldn’t stop flowing—this time out of happiness and emotion.
She looked down at Shane Warner and said, "Who proposes right after someone agrees to date them?"
Shane Warner furrowed his eyebrows slightly and persisted in holding up the ring, asking her, "So are you saying yes or no?"
"You have no patience," she complained, wiping her tears with one hand, and then smiling as she extended her hand to him.
Shane Warner took her hand, forming a flower-like shape, and indulgently placed the ring on her fourth finger.
Standing up, he pulled her into his embrace, holding the back of her head as he sealed her lips with a kiss...
Applause and cheers erupted all around, and Audrey responded by wrapping her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss...
Not far away on the landmark building, their names "Shane Warner" and "Audrey Sutton" appeared in large letters.
Between the two names was a red heart icon.
Sometimes the simplest words express the deepest love.
Audrey Sutton opened her eyes and saw her name on the building. She gently pushed Shane Warner away, giving him a shy glance before looking towards the landmark building, leaning against his side and with a teasing smile said, "Is this what you’ve been secretly preparing all this time?"
Shane Warner replied nonchalantly, "Not entirely."
Audrey smiled, immediately handing the flowers to Shane Warner, then rummaged through her bag for her cellphone: "I need to take a picture. It’s rare to see you being so considerate."
Shane Warner: "Take your time, your name will be up all night."
Audrey Sutton widened her eyes in surprise: "This must be expensive! How much did this cost you?!"
Shane Warner: "No matter how much, spending it on you is worth it."
Audrey was both touched and pained, taking pictures with her phone while saying, "You are such a fool with too much money. I suspect you just want to squander your family’s wealth and relax on my couch!"
Shane Warner just smiled faintly and said nothing, holding her as if he owned the entire world.
In just a few minutes, Shane Warner’s series of grand gestures hit the trending searches again.
Clarissa Morgan, who was in the U.K., trembled with anger as she saw the pictures.
With a "bang," she smashed the wine glass in her hand on the floor, shards of glass mixed with the purple-red liquid lying on the white ground.
She sat on the sofa, lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and her hand was shaking as she dialed a number.
"Something wrong?" On the other end, Lan Irving answered feebly.
Clarissa Morgan questioned irritably, "Is this what you call a plan? How can they still flaunt their love like this?"
Lan Irving snorted, "If Miss Morgan is so capable, why don’t you take action yourself? What’s the point of calling to question me? I owe you nothing. Our collaboration is on equal footing, and you think you’re so noble? Playing the swan in front of others while letting others do the dirty work for you?"
Clarissa Morgan sneered, threatening Lan Irving, "Do you think if Shane knew you were behind all this, he would deal with you so gently?"
Lan Irving’s tone remained calm, even with a hint of a smile, "Do as you please, Miss Morgan, but your spotless swan facade won’t last much longer either."
With that said, Lan Irving hung up the phone.
Clarissa Morgan gripped her phone tightly, almost crushing it.
She tried to calm herself, walked to the large floor-to-ceiling window of her room, smoking her cigarette as she gazed out into the night.
She suddenly questioned herself, wondering what was the use of becoming better and better?
She still hadn’t attained everything she wanted.
So even the white swan won’t stay clean for long?
Then let us drown in the mire together...
Audrey Sutton only found out when she got home that Shane Warner’s plan was known to everyone, and she was the only one kept in the dark all along.
Previously she was just disappointed in her heart when Shane Warner said he wouldn’t spend the Qixi Festival with her. Now she understood that her parents helping with the wedding preparations was the reason they had been leaving early and coming home late.
Despite the fact that being kept out of the loop by everyone wasn’t a good feeling, the overwhelming happiness Audrey felt was welcome.
She went back and asked Shane Warner for the short video that was being played on the advertising screen and watched it over and over in the following days.
The day before Qixi, her brothers returned to the island to attend their little sister’s wedding.
Shane Warner’s parents came too, and Phoebe King arrived directly from Serephina, saying she took time just to attend the wedding, and would have to leave as soon as it was over.
No one knew if she really had work to do or if she had some quarrel with Stephen Sutton—Audrey asked her, but Phoebe couldn’t provide a clear response.
Not many people were invited to the wedding. On Shane Warner’s side, it was just his parents and Faye Xavier’s group. Audrey Sutton’s side included only family, a few girlfriends, and some relatives and neighbors from the island.
Even with few people, the wedding was far from simple.
The team handling the wedding was one of the best in the country.
Whether it was the attire and styling of the bride and groom or the decoration of the wedding scene, everything exceeded Audrey Sutton’s expectations.
Audrey Sutton only saw the wedding venue on the day of the wedding, and it was like a dream scene she thought could only be in movies.
The Qixi Festival, a symbol of love, was complemented by the weather—the skies were clear but not hot.
The cool and pleasant sea breeze gently blew through white drapes, carrying a faint scent of roses.
Although Audrey Sutton and Shane Warner had a wedding ceremony before, this time the atmosphere was completely different.
The first felt more like a formality, a task.
This time, it seemed that love filled the air, leaving one’s heart feeling sweetly content.
In a white gown and black suit, she took his arm and walked down a path of rose petals.
When she repeated, "I do," there was an extra layer of determination and commitment in her voice.
After exchanging rings, Shane Warner, concerned she might be shy, gave a reserved peck on her forehead.
As he was about to straighten up, Audrey suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck, leaving a red lipstick mark on his cheek, then looked at him with a happy grin.
The guests below burst into laughter, and even the pastor forgot his lines for a moment.
Hazel Yates, standing next to Samuel Sutton, chuckled and murmured, "This child, doesn’t know how to be reserved."
