Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 414: I Still Want to Hit on Him
CHAPTER 414: CHAPTER 414: I STILL WANT TO HIT ON HIM
In the afternoon, Audrey Sutton was curled up on the sofa watching anime on Shane Warner’s tablet when she received a call from Flora Lane.
Flora had posted a roommate ad online, and said that someone had come to see the apartment that morning, decided to rent it, and asked Audrey to come by and sign the contract.
Audrey happened to have some free time, so she changed clothes and headed out.
It was only when she arrived that she realized the prospective roommate was a guy, and he was quite handsome.
He had delicate features, spoke elegantly, claimed to be an artist, and had opened an art studio nearby the university. He seemed like a young master from a wealthy family, completely untainted by the world.
But Audrey, having been taught by Shane Warner, knew not to judge a person by their looks—bad guys don’t wear "bad" on their faces. So when she was leaving, she deliberately asked Flora to walk her out.
She told Flora, "He does seem honest, but Flora, you should still keep an eye out. After all, he’s quite tall, so there’s a bit of a risk."
Flora jokingly replied, "I actually want to date him!"
Audrey laughed and gave her a playful glare, then gossipingly asked, "What about that Mor brother you’re interested in?"
Flora said, "What Mor brother? Haven’t I told you already? Those were just stories they made up at the time, just to trick you."
Audrey shook her head. "My mom always said that words and actions can deceive, but the eyes don’t lie. I really felt that when Mor said he wanted to pursue you, he genuinely liked you."
"Oh, stop playing matchmaker and get home to cook for your third young master."
"He’s on a business trip, so why don’t we go out to eat? Call Bear and Brother Seraphina, let’s go for Korean BBQ."
On a whim, the four of them dressed up nicely and went to their usual BBQ spot.
By chance, they ran into Lucian Quinn at the restaurant entrance.
"Mor? You’re here for dinner too?" Audrey approached him and greeted him warmly.
Lucian glanced at Audrey, then, almost inadvertently, looked at Flora standing beside her, smiling as he nodded, "I’m here with my brother, keeping Phoebe company for dinner."
"Sister Phoebe’s here too?"
"My brother went to pick her up. They’ll be here soon. I came ahead to reserve seats."
Audrey wasn’t sure if Mor was really interested in Flora, but she thought they suited each other well and somewhat wanted to pair them up, "Why don’t we share a table?"
Barry Barrett, standing next to Audrey, nodded eagerly; sharing a table with handsome guys was something she wouldn’t miss.
Flora would have happily agreed with Barry, but perhaps because of Lucian’s presence and recalling Audrey’s earlier remarks, she felt a bit embarrassed from previous encounters, so she said, "...Let’s not. We have quite a few people, wouldn’t want to bother them."
Audrey said, "It’s fine. You guys know Phoebe anyway."
Lucian generously smiled and nodded, "I’ll ask the staff to change us to a larger table. More people, more fun."
With that, Lucian turned to discuss the table change with the staff.
Flora tugged on Audrey’s arm and softly warned her, "You little rascal, don’t cause trouble for me!"
Audrey mischievously smiled and said, "This is Mor; he’s pretty dependable. I was talking about his brother being the playboy. I said..."
Halfway through Audrey’s sentence, Lucian turned and walked over to them, saying, "Why don’t you all go to the second floor first? I’ll wait downstairs for my brother and them."
Audrey nodded, "Okay, then we’ll start ordering and grilling for you guys."
"Sure."
They followed the staff upstairs, and Seraphina Vaughn tugged at Audrey and asked, "Is there a story between our Flora and this guy?"
Before Audrey could answer, Flora gave her an eye roll, "What story! Don’t speak nonsense, how embarrassing if they heard."
Barry chuckled and teased, "Flora, didn’t you always want a rich bachelor? I think this Mor is pretty good, handsome and likely got some assets hanging out with Young Master Warner, and most importantly, he seems interested in you."
Audrey and Barry exchanged amused looks, causing even someone as seasoned in romance as Flora to blush, "There’s no such thing! Didn’t I say those words were arranged by Young Master Warner to surprise Audrey, and you all believed it?"
Barry remarked, "But did you notice? When we were all together just now, after Audrey greeted him, he peeked at you for a few seconds. If he’s not into you, why didn’t he look at me or Brother Seraphina but only you?"
"What nonsense! Just don’t mention that when they arrive!"
...
While still ordering food, Mor, Luc, and Phoebe King came upstairs.
Audrey had deliberately sat beside Flora when they first took their seats. When Mor arrived, she got up to wrap her arm around Phoebe’s and told Lucian, "Mor, sit here, I’ll sit with Sister Phoebe."
Flora gave Audrey a menacing side-eye, but Audrey pretended not to see it, leading Phoebe to the empty seat inside.
Lucian stood by the chair without sitting and asked, "Drinking or having soft drinks?"
Phoebe replied, "Drinks, come on, we’re adults, why soft drinks?"
Audrey chuckled, "I’ll have juice, they can drink beer."
Mor acknowledged with a nod and then ordered drinks from a nearby server.
Phoebe looked at Audrey and asked, "Are you pregnant?"
Audrey was momentarily stunned, then laughed and shook her head, "Not yet, just preparing, so no booze."
Phoebe said, "How long have you been preparing and still no baby? I say have your husband checked."
Luc remarked, "Hey Phoebe, does that mean you think Master Shane isn’t capable?"
Phoebe boldly replied, "If there’s no baby, one of you must have a problem, right?"
Audrey laughed, "...It’s just my body needing some tuning, we’re not in a rush."
Nobody knew about Audrey’s miscarriage earlier in the summer, as she hadn’t mentioned it to anyone.
So everyone was unaware of what she’d been through the past two months.
Mor, perhaps having heard something from Shane Warner, knew that the topic of having babies might be sensitive for Audrey, and naturally changed the subject, "Try this dessert, it’s a new release from the restaurant."
Lucian said as he pulled out a chair and sat down.
Flora unconsciously leaned slightly towards Barry, not daring to turn her head towards Lucian.
Initially, she couldn’t tell the difference between the two brothers. Now, apart from resembling each other, their dressing and personalities were distinctly different.
Yet, from their tone of speech alone, one could tell who was the older brother and who was the younger.
Actually, guys like Lucian fit Flora’s taste quite well, but she always had this feeling in her heart, sensing that she and Lucian were not from the same world.
