Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 494: Justice for My Brother
CHAPTER 494: CHAPTER 494: JUSTICE FOR MY BROTHER
Then Audrey Sutton reacted and stared at Shane Warner, asking, "How do you know my last book didn’t have a female lead? Did you read it?"
Shane Warner didn’t hide it: "Yes."
Audrey Sutton paused her chopsticks, her mind flashing wildly with those ambiguous images she once drew, as well as those shameful words, and her face slowly turned red, immediately feeling awkward.
Then she heard Shane Warner add, "Read a bit, didn’t find it interesting, so I stopped."
Audrey Sutton didn’t know whether to be happy about his comment.
Naturally, she felt a bit disappointed that her work was dismissed, but thinking he didn’t see those images, she felt a bit relieved.
Besides, if he were really engrossed in that kind of comic, she would truly have a reason to worry.
Audrey Sutton: "It’s meant for little girls, of course you find it uninteresting."
Shane Warner: "You little girls like that kind of thing?"
Audrey Sutton retorted annoyed: "Just like you guys like watching Japanese specialty films, right?"
Shane Warner: "Say it a bit louder, are you afraid others won’t know about your peculiar interests?"
Audrey Sutton: "I was talking about you!"
Shane Warner: "Honestly, while I was away on business, you didn’t sneak a peek, did you?"
Audrey Sutton: "Who sneaked a peek?!"
Shane Warner: "Then why did my study cabinet look like it was rummaged through?"
Audrey Sutton blushed and quickly explained, "I was looking for printing paper."
Shane Warner chuckled: "Oh, misunderstood you then."
Audrey Sutton rolled her eyes at him: "You have peculiar interests, who would hide such things in their study!"
Shane Warner: "I remember someone had plenty of such stuff on her bookshelves, saw it the first time I went to her house."
Audrey Sutton protested in embarrassment, "That’s art! What you have is smut!"
Shane Warner: "Then shall I appreciate your art some other time?"
Audrey Sutton picked a meatball from the pot and placed it in his bowl: "Just eat your meal!"
Vaguely, they could hear the conversation from Clarissa Morgan’s table, it seemed like Clarissa spent most of the time trying to please Director Ford.
To get a lead role script without any representative work and not being classically trained, Clarissa Morgan must have put in a lot of effort behind the scenes.
However, Audrey figured Quentin Sterling sponsoring might have been enough to get her the script, why would Clarissa Morgan have to entertain and drink with them personally?
The seat Clarissa Morgan occupied was almost directly facing Shane Warner, so she clearly saw him.
Going by her past demeanor, she would have come over to bother them with a few words, but today she stayed behaved and didn’t come over to greet Shane Warner.
Possibly, the issue with Director Ford was more important, afraid to lose her opportunity.
After eating, Shane Warner drove Audrey Sutton back to school.
On the way back to the company, it started raining, droplets drumming densely against the car window.
The car drove into the underground parking lot of the company, and there they encountered Vincent Warner.
Vincent Warner approached Shane Warner, greeting him proactively: "Shane."
Shane Warner glanced at him, his expression slightly cold, asking, "Heard you were looking for me this morning?"
Vincent Warner pointed upstairs with his hand, "Shall we talk in my office?"
Shane Warner didn’t respond, locked the car, and headed straight towards the elevator.
As the two stood in the elevator, neither spoke.
When the elevator reached the first floor, it stopped; a waiting assistant intending to take the elevator saw them standing there with expressionless faces, awkwardly smiled, "Second Young Master, Third Young Master, you go ahead, I just remembered something I forgot to print."
After speaking, the assistant quickly scurried away.
Once the elevator doors closed automatically, it continued to ascend.
After exiting the elevator, Shane Warner walked ahead towards Vincent Warner’s office, and upon reaching, he sat unceremoniously on the large adult sofa by the wall.
Vincent Warner personally made a cup of tea for him, placed it on the coffee table before him, and then sat on the sofa next to him: "This tea was your brother’s favorite back then."
Shane Warner didn’t like hearing Vincent mention his brother, furrowing his brows and saying, "Get to the point."
Vincent Warner: "A couple of days ago, a police officer came to see me, if I’m not mistaken, it was Audrey’s second brother, asking about the events of the day your brother had his accident."
Shane Warner’s tone was somewhat impatient: "So what?"
Facing Shane Warner’s attitude, Vincent merely smiled warmly, asking, "You agreed to reopen this investigation, right? Thank you for giving me the chance to prove my innocence."
Shane Warner snorted coldly: "I reopened the investigation to give my brother justice and bring the murderer to justice. If that person isn’t you, that’s good, but if it is, I won’t let it go."
Vincent chuckled, nodding: "I also hope to let Sean rest in peace. It’s only right that you suspect me, I will fully cooperate with the police investigation, I will tell them everything I know."
Shane Warner: "People lie, only you know whether what you confess is true or false."
Vincent took a deep breath: "Actually, from my standpoint, although I know the killer isn’t me, I have no clue either. This matter was called off by Grandpa back then, forbidding any further investigation. Everyone thought Grandpa was covering for me, but I don’t know if Grandpa suspected me too and that’s why he stopped it, or if he already knew who the true culprit was and didn’t want it exposed, and who the person he truly wanted to protect was?"
Shane Warner didn’t seem to be seriously listening to Vincent’s words, but he was indeed pondering them deeply.
Previously he had always thought the culprit was Vincent, so he never listened to anything he said, but now, he could discover some new leads by seeing the issue from his perspective.
Franklin Sutton had also mentioned to him earlier about the potential that the killer might be someone from The Warner, and who it could be, Shane Warner would need to navigate and figure out himself.
Because those who know the Warner family disputes best are the ones embroiled in them.
However, before Sean Warner’s incident, Shane Warner wasn’t being groomed as the successor to the Warner family, so he wasn’t clear about some conflicts within the family at the time.
The only thing he knew, probably, was the rivalry between Sean Warner and Vincent Warner over the heir’s position.
Grandfather was determined to hand over the company entirely to Sean Warner, and had publicly mentioned it more than once, always grooming Sean as the Warner family’s successor.
Sean grew up surrounded by many covetous eyes, and his biggest rival was Vincent Warner, who was about the same age as him.
If the killer is someone from the Warner family, Shane Warner really couldn’t think of anyone else but Vincent.
