Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 502: The Older the Man, the More Attractive He Is
CHAPTER 502: CHAPTER 502: THE OLDER THE MAN, THE MORE ATTRACTIVE HE IS
Simon Sue’s question hit right at the heart of Audrey Sutton, so she took the opportunity to ask: "Do you still have any tickets?"
Simon: "Yeah, I saved a few for my old band friends. If you want to come, I’ll save them for you. How many do you want?"
Audrey didn’t expect it to be so straightforward and didn’t hesitate: "Two tickets."
Simon: "Watching with your husband?"
Before Audrey could reply, Simon sent another message: "Then you better keep a tight leash on your husband, so he doesn’t come on stage to beat me up. Also, control your drool, so your husband doesn’t get jealous and lose his mind."
Audrey sent an eye-roll emoji: "Get lost, you little chubby, I’m going with my roommate."
Simon: "Are you at school now? I can bring the tickets over to you."
Audrey: "Where are you?"
Simon: "Over by the gym, rehearsing."
Audrey: "I’ll come find you then."
Barry Barrett hadn’t figured out what was going on when he saw Audrey suddenly flip up from bed, grab her bag, and rush out of the dorm.
"Hey? What’s going on, Sutton? Did you get the tickets? Is your Third Young Master reliable?"
"I’ll tell you when I get back!"
...
The school gymnasium.
Alongside the track, the school track and field team were training. The basketball court was bustling, and several places had girls practicing aerobics for competitions.
Audrey stood at the entrance and looked around but didn’t see Simon’s figure.
Thinking that someone like Simon wouldn’t rehearse where there are so many people, Audrey couldn’t find him and called him.
Simon seemed to be in the middle of a dance practice, breathing heavily when he answered the phone: "You here?"
Audrey: "Where are you? I don’t see you."
Simon: "Second floor."
Audrey: "The gym has a third floor?"
Simon: "Are you really a student here? Almost graduated and still don’t know there’s a third floor?"
Audrey: "..."
When she first came here as a freshman, the gym wasn’t even open. It opened during her sophomore year, and it was mostly used by the dance department. She had only come by to watch a few performances.
Climbing the stairs to the third floor, it was far fancier than downstairs.
First, it was quiet. Each room was separated, like individual classrooms.
Some doors were open, and you could hear teachers calling out beats.
Audrey peeked through a door crack and saw it was full of girls practicing folk dance, probably not the right room.
"Audrey?"
Audrey was startled, straightened up, and looked behind her. Sure enough, it was Clarissa Morgan.
Clarissa smiled as she walked over: "What brings you here, little sister?"
Audrey smiled, curling her lips: "Just curious, having a look around."
Clarissa: "Why don’t you come to my classroom? I’m about to start class."
Audrey gave a forced smile and said: "I’m curious about this place, not interested in dancing. Teacher Morgan, you’d better head to class."
Clarissa checked the time on her phone: "I really should hurry over to class, then. I’ll chat with you another time."
Audrey didn’t respond to her again, lifting her foot to continue forward. She saw a wooden door open not far away, and Simon, wearing a thin light gray vest, was using a towel around his neck to wipe his sweat and looking outside, obviously there to find her.
Audrey waved at him, knowing Clarissa hadn’t gone far, so she didn’t speak to greet Simon.
Simon also saw Clarissa, so he didn’t call out Audrey’s name.
Once Audrey got closer and Clarissa had gone downstairs, Simon asked: "Were you just chatting with Clarissa?"
Audrey: "Just exchanged a few words." After that, Audrey got straight to the point, spreading her hands to ask: "Where’s the ticket?"
Simon: "I didn’t bring it with me. I asked my manager to send it over. He should be here soon. Want to wait inside?"
Audrey peeked into the dance studio, seeing only a few people—just one dance teacher and six male backup dancers—then stepped inside.
Simon gestured to the bench against the wall, indicating Audrey should sit. He sat in the empty spot next to her, took a big drink from the water bottle by the chair, and said: "Why are you interested in watching my concert? Are you tired of staying with your old guy and really falling for me?"
Audrey immediately looked disdainful: "Even if I fell for someone, it wouldn’t be you! Besides, my relationship with him is great! It’s my roommate who likes you. She cried and yelled when she couldn’t get tickets, so I thought of asking you."
Simon pouted: "I knew you wouldn’t look for me without a reason."
Audrey mercilessly replied: "Why would I look for you with nothing to do? Do you really want my husband to beat you up?"
Simon immediately flexed his arm, showing off his bicep: "If it really comes to a fight, your husband may not be able to beat me."
Audrey let out a contemptuous snort: "With just that? You haven’t seen my husband’s physique. If you had, you’d be too embarrassed to show off. He works out every day."
Simon sighed: "Love is blind; everything is best for your husband, right?"
Audrey boasted: "He really is better than you."
Simon pretended to be angry, pointing outside the door: "You should go wait outside. My manager will be downstairs soon. Just let him give you the tickets and get out of my sight!"
Audrey chuckled: "No, aren’t you rehearsing? Show me a dance!"
Simon: "My dear, I just got a chance to rest for a bit. Can’t I take a break? Moreover, why should I dance just because you say so? Go home and have your husband dance for you!"
Audrey: "If he starts dancing, this job could be his."
Simon: "Come on, can he still compete with me for roles at his age?"
Audrey: "Don’t you know men get more charming as they age?"
Simon: "Sure, sure, he’s old, he’s old!"
Audrey glared at him: "Say one more thing about him, and I’ll get a bottle of acid to watch your concert!"
Simon eyed her: "Starting to threaten me before you even have the tickets?"
Audrey realized she needed his favor and immediately put on a smile: "Simon, you’re the handsomest!"
Simon: "By the way, has Clarissa been bothering you lately?"
Audrey shook her head: "No, she’s busy preparing for a TV drama recently; probably too busy to cause trouble."
Simon: "You have no idea how awkward her acting is."
Audrey: "You’ve seen it?"
Simon: "She’s the leading lady, I’m the leading man, what do you think?"
Audrey’s eyes widened in shock: "What? You two are acting together?"
Simon pulled out a bag of sunflower seeds from nowhere, munching as he spoke: "She’s got a strong background, probably investing in the production, not a lick of acting experience. If it were another newbie, she’d be scolded beyond recognition by the director, maybe even replaced. But everyone in the crew takes care of her, even after dozens of NGs, no one said a word, just comforted and encouraged her, not a harsh word from anyone."
