Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 509: I Accept Your Proposal
CHAPTER 509: CHAPTER 509: I ACCEPT YOUR PROPOSAL
As the car lights came on, the car slowly turned around to leave.
Audrey Sutton and her friends stood upstairs watching, all worried for Flora Lane.
Audrey Sutton was about to return to the dorm to get her phone and call Lucian Quinn to ask him to wait a moment.
She was afraid that Flora Lane finally made up her mind, only for them to miss each other, which would hurt the confidence Flora Lane had painstakingly built up.
Besides, sometimes, decisions of the heart happen in an instant, and once that moment passes, it might be hard to muster up the courage again.
Lucian Quinn’s car started up slowly. Audrey Sutton was about to walk inside to get her phone when Barry Barrett suddenly grabbed her arm, excitedly pointing downstairs: "She ran after it! She ran after it!"
Audrey Sutton turned her head, only to see Flora Lane sprinting all the way out of the dorm entrance...
Seraphina Vaughn smiled with relief and said, "She keeps saying she doesn’t like him, but she’s acting like she can’t run fast enough."
As Flora Lane chased after him, Lucian Quinn’s car was just pulling away. Ignoring the strange looks from passersby, Flora Lane waved and shouted his name loudly while running after the car: "Lucian Quinn!"
The car was about five or six meters away from Flora Lane; she wasn’t sure if Lucian Quinn heard her.
The car didn’t stop, and Flora Lane was discouraged. She stopped running, standing there panting, her expression dim and defeated, lacking the determination she had moments before.
Just then, Lucian Quinn’s car suddenly stopped. The door opened shortly after, and he stepped out from the car, turned around, and looked at her from afar.
Flora Lane’s mouth suddenly curved upwards, and her dim eyes were enlivened again.
She couldn’t help it, even without realizing it herself.
She lifted her foot again and walked toward Lucian Quinn.
Initially, her steps were hurried, but as she got closer to Lucian Quinn, her pace slowed until she stopped about two meters from him.
Lucian Quinn smiled as he walked towards her and asked, "Why did you come down? I’ve already sent the medicine up."
Flora Lane gazed at him intently, as if she wanted to say something but didn’t know how to start.
Lucian Quinn looked at her with slight confusion and, seeing her silence, softly asked, "Is there something you want to say?"
Flora Lane: "I..."
Lucian Quinn: "Hmm?"
Flora Lane took a deep breath, closed her eyes, bit her lip, and mustered up the courage to say, "I agree to it!"
Lucian Quinn was momentarily taken aback, then he roughly understood what she meant, but he couldn’t believe her sudden change of heart, fearing he’d misunderstood her intentions. Hesitantly, Lucian Quinn asked, "...Agree to what?"
Flora Lane blushed, glanced down to avoid his eyes, pressed her lips together as if a bit too shy to speak.
Lucian Quinn took a step closer, smiled, and asked, "Agree...to go out with me?"
Flora Lane tightly pursed her lips and nodded, "Mm...but..."
Lucian Quinn seemed relieved, his smile growing even broader as he asked, "But what?"
Flora Lane then lifted her gaze to meet his again and said, "You can’t send flowers to the company anymore."
Lucian Quinn laughed, intentionally misconstruing her meaning, "Already starting to help me save money?"
Flora Lane frowned and hurriedly explained, "It’s not to help you save money, it’s just... I find it really troublesome when you do that."
Lucian Quinn: "So you’re not just pretending to agree because of that?"
Flora Lane shook her head, "...We can try it out first. If it seems like we’re not suitable after spending time together, maybe it’s better not to be together."
Lucian Quinn frowned a bit, "Just agreed to date and already thinking about breaking up? What if it’s a good fit? Would you marry me?"
Flora Lane hadn’t expected him to be so forward, swallowed nervously, and said, "...Take it step by step, who proposes right after their partner agrees to date them?"
Lucian Quinn nodded with a smile, "Alright, step by step. Did you run out here just to tell me this, or are you planning to go out on a date with me?"
Flora Lane hesitated, "I... I have things to do, no time today."
Lucian Quinn: "Then make sure to rest well, your health comes first. Remember to take your medicine on time."
Flora Lane nodded, pointing towards the dorm, speaking slightly awkwardly, "Then... I’ll head back up then."
Lucian Quinn: "Mm. If you’re free tonight, care to join me for dinner?"
Flora Lane hesitated for two seconds before answering, "...Okay."
The phone in Lucian Quinn’s pants pocket rang. Flora Lane knew he was busy with many matters, so she said, "You go ahead and handle your things, I’ll head up now."
Lucian Quinn gave a slight nod, only reaching for his phone to answer after watching her walk away.
Flora Lane nearly sprinted back into the dormitory. In the past, she always took the initiative, holding the upper hand, she never felt so timid. Why was she mysteriously losing her nerve in front of Lucian Quinn?
This won’t do. If they eventually got married, she’d have no authority or voice at home. She needed to regain her old assertiveness!
Thinking this, upstairs, when facing Audrey Sutton and the others’ probing gazes, Flora Lane’s socalled assertiveness vanished completely. She couldn’t even meet their eyes, instead playing dumb, "What are you all standing here for? Go inside, where were we? Keep going."
Audrey Sutton smirked and said, "We were just talking about how you chased after your Mr. President Quinn."
Seraphina Vaughn: "I thought you wouldn’t come back today, why didn’t you get in the car with him?"
Barry Barrett: "Some people are all talk but no action~"
Flora Lane glared at them, "Enough, enough!"
After saying that, Flora Lane walked towards her room. Barry Barrett quickly followed, asking, "What did you two talk about? Why did he leave so soon?"
Flora Lane replied in annoyance, "What else? Invite him up for tea?"
Barry Barrett: "That’s not impossible, invite him up for some snacks."
Audrey Sutton: "So, does it mean you two are official now?"
Flora Lane: "...Weren’t you the ones who convinced me to agree?"
Audrey Sutton smiled, "So it means we’ll be drinking wedding wine soon."
Seraphina Vaughn unkindly pointed out, "Hey, you all don’t know? Look at all her past relationships, when have any reached the point of marriage?"
Flora Lane pouted at Seraphina Vaughn, "What are you guys trying to say? You persuaded me to agree, and now you’re not wishing me well?"
Audrey Sutton patted Flora Lane’s shoulder, earnestly saying, "Flora, I’m sincerely rooting for you this time. I feel you two have something going on. After all, I think Mor’s serious about you. It’s all up to you. I think Mor has a good temperament; shouldn’t be any big issues in getting along. If you ask me, we might be eating wedding candies by this year."
