CHAPTER 57: CHAPTER 57: THE BIG JEALOUS JAR

Master Shane looked at her with a slightly deep gaze and said, "I don’t have a girlfriend. The pair you’re wearing is my wife’s slippers, but they fit your feet quite well, miss."

Audrey Sutton narrowed her eyes and then turned around, looking around as if she was there for the first time, muttering, "So you’re married, huh? But it makes sense, you’re at that age where you should be married."

Shane Warner’s cold eyes slightly narrowed; he really wanted to throw her off the balcony after hearing her mention his age repeatedly.

"Is your wife not at home? Should I go say hello to her?"

As Shane Warner took off his coat and walked toward the kitchen, rolling up his sleeves, he said, "My wife is very jealous. If she were home, where would I dare to bring you back?"

Jealous? Is she really that possessive?

Audrey Sutton sat on the sofa, picked up the remote, and turned on the TV, switching channels as she said, "Looks like you often bring women home behind your wife’s back, huh?"

Shane Warner faced the fridge, looking through ingredients. Turning his back to her, he responded with a slight smile, "You’re the first."

Audrey secretly thought, lucky for him, he dodged a bullet.

The rain pitter-pattered outside the window. Audrey cozily nestled on the sofa, watching a variety show on TV and occasionally bursting into laughter.

In the open kitchen, she could hear him rhythmically chopping vegetables as she watched TV.

Every now and then, she sneakily glanced at him cooking.

Although they’ve been together for some time, Audrey still never got tired of his stunning looks. Each glance made her marvel and praise him inwardly.

"Did you see a golden retriever when you got home yesterday?" he asked during a break from cooking.

Audrey paused, then responded with an "Hmm," "I don’t remember when we got a dog, but it’s pretty cute."

Shane Warner’s lips curled slightly as he recalled her timid reactions when she first met General.

Now that his dog had made friends with her, was it his turn soon?

...

Lan Irving sat in Faye Xavier’s car on the way to an engagement.

"President Warner didn’t come to the office at all today," Lan Irving said.

Faye Xavier explained, "Old Master Warner is ill, so Master Shane is probably still busy at the hospital."

"Is that so?" Lan Irving asked nonchalantly and then looked out the window.

Just a few seconds ago, she had seen on X that Shane Warner went to Audrey Sutton’s school in the afternoon.

As the car stopped at a red light at the intersection, Faye Xavier turned her head towards Lan Irving and said, "I’ve noticed you’ve been getting a little carried away lately. Our relationship with Master Shane is rather good, but not so good that you have the right to manage him."

"I’m sorry," Lan Irving replied lightly, her tone of apology clearly somewhat perfunctory.

"Master Shane now has his own family. It’s normal that he can’t throw himself into work like before, so if we can handle something, there’s no need to trouble him."

Lan Irving turned her head to look at Faye Xavier and said, "But as the boss and with the company just going public, I understand he needs to balance family, but he should also balance family and work. I feel like he’s not putting much thought into work right now."

Faye Xavier spoke with a hint of anger in her voice, "Do you know how many nights Master Shane stayed up working on the design drafts himself? You and I can’t measure how much effort he’s put into the company. Stick to doing your job! Don’t meddle where you shouldn’t."

Lan Irving remained silent, turning her gaze out the window.

The green light reflected a green wave pattern on the rain-soaked ground surface.

As Faye Xavier started the car, she said coldly, "If you continue to have such thoughts, I don’t think you’re suitable to stay in the company."

Lan Irving still didn’t respond, pretending not to hear.

But from Faye Xavier’s past experiences with her, she probably couldn’t accept what he said right now, but she’d digest it in private and change.

...

At night, the rain intensified again. Around eight o’clock after dinner, Shane Warner drove Audrey Sutton back to The Warner residence.

Just as they got out of the car, the rain poured down hard, almost overwhelming the umbrella.

Hazel Yates said to Shane Warner, "Shane, look at this heavy rain; it’s not safe to drive back. Why don’t you stay over tonight?"

Hearing this, Shane Warner instantly felt like it was divine intervention.

Audrey Sutton thought he’d politely refuse, but he surprised her by asking, "Do you have a spare room?"

"Yes, yes, yes, we always keep it tidy. Just make the bed, and it’s good to go. It’s right next to Audrey’s." As she spoke, Hazel Yates turned to Audrey Sutton, who was playing with the cat on the living room floor, and instructed, "Audrey, take him upstairs."

Audrey Sutton glanced at Shane Warner. She hoped he would stay, so without any complaints, she led Shane Warner upstairs.

"You have spare blankets and sheets in your wardrobe; help him make the bed."

Shane Warner heard Audrey mumble something. Although he didn’t catch it, he could guess it wasn’t anything good.

Once upstairs, Audrey simply pointed to the room next to hers and said, "There, that’s the room. You go in yourself."

Shane Warner stood by the door, waiting for her.

A moment later, he saw her come out holding sheets and blankets.

All pink, with bows.

It made Shane Warner frown a bit, but he said nothing, just reached out to take the items from her hands.

After Audrey opened the door to the room next door, she groped around the wall for a light switch, turned on the lights, and said to him, "You make it yourself; I’m busy."

Finished speaking, Audrey slipped back into her room and shut the door.

Shane Warner looked at the pink, fluffy items in his hands, feeling somewhat...

Oh well, it’s just one night.

Moreover, it seemed to be bedding she had used before.

Twenty minutes later.

Audrey Sutton had just finished showering.

"Knock, knock, knock—"

The room door was knocked.

Audrey Sutton put on a coat over her thin camisole nightgown before going to open the door, asking Shane Warner standing outside, "What?"

"May I borrow your bathroom?"

"Isn’t there one in your room?"

"The faucet seems broken; it can’t provide hot water."

Audrey hesitated for two seconds before stepping aside to let him in.

Shane Warner headed straight for the bathroom, but suddenly, Audrey remembered something and quickly ran ahead of him into the bathroom.

When she came out, Shane Warner saw her holding her dirty laundry.

Probably not wanting him to see her undergarments, but things didn’t go as planned.

Audrey hastily grabbed all the clothes, but the bra hung outside, ending up at Shane Warner’s feet.

Shane Warner looked down at the strawberry-patterned bra, bent down to help pick it up, and Audrey also hurriedly bent down, bumping his head with a "thump."

Even Shane Warner, who considered himself quite pain-tolerant, felt a burst of pain and quickly asked her, "Are you okay?"

She couldn’t even bother to rub her head; she grabbed the strawberry and stuffed it into her other clothes, quickly tossing it into her laundry basket by the bed. Then she started rubbing her head where she’d been hit.

Shane Warner couldn’t help but be amused by her, curling his lips into a smile as he said, "The style is cute and suits you well."
