My Aloof Husband, Mr. Drexler, Dotes Me Excessively
Chapter 27: Isn’t This a Bit Much?
CHAPTER 27: CHAPTER 27: ISN’T THIS A BIT MUCH?
As Noah Drexler’s words fell, Flynn Hughes finally revealed a smile, "I knew it, you still have some human touch!"
"How’s the task I gave you going?" Noah Drexler had no intention of continuing to chat with him and instead asked about the main issue.
"Of course, with my abilities, it’s all taken care of!" Flynn Hughes patted his chest and said with immense confidence.
"After saying so much, I’m a bit thirsty. Let me drink some water first, then I’ll explain the situation to you in detail." Feeling a bit parched, Flynn Hughes instinctively glanced at the coffee cup on the table, only to find it empty.
Just as he felt disappointed, his eyes couldn’t help but catch sight of the mint candy box on the desk.
"Never mind, I’ll grab some of this to refresh myself."
The mint-flavored candies are great for cooling down, and they somewhat quench thirst too!
As he spoke, Flynn Hughes had already reached out to grab the candy box and was just about to open it when he suddenly sensed a sharp glare...
He froze, his hand’s action halting involuntarily, and looked incredulously toward the owner of that sharp glare.
When he saw the expression on Noah Drexler’s face, Flynn Hughes was taken aback once more...
"Drop it!" Noah Drexler’s gaze was icy cold, fixing on the mint candy box in Flynn Hughes’s hand, with a chilling expression as if he would kill him instantly if he dared to eat from that box!
Flynn Hughes was startled, immediately releasing the mint candy box, and awkwardly smiling.
"Heh heh... it’s just a box of candies, no need to be so dramatic."
Noah Drexler didn’t say much, just reached over, took the box, and held it in his palm.
Seeing this, Flynn Hughes breathed a sigh of relief but couldn’t help glancing a few more times at the mint candy box in his hand.
He thought to himself, what’s so different about this thing, it’s just an ordinary box of mint candies, yet it catches so much of his attention...
Indeed, the boss’s thoughts are always unfathomable, impossible to see through...
...
In the evening, on the sparsely-populated riverside in the suburbs of Narsus City.
Summer Shawcross was holding her phone looking at pictures and using binoculars to peer at the distant river surface.
Displayed on her phone screen was an image of a cruise ship, which she had specifically asked her brother Sean Shawcross to have the detective agency investigate. It was the full view of the cruise ship rented by Zeke Sawyer for his birthday party tonight, along with the route the cruise ship would take. So she had been waiting here since the evening.
However, she had been waiting here for a while tonight, and among the many passing ships, she hadn’t spotted Zeke Sawyer’s cruise.
"Ma’am, it’s not safe here. Please go take a walk somewhere else." The somewhat wooden voice of the bodyguard sounded next to her ear.
Summer Shawcross put down the binoculars in her hand and looked at them somewhat helplessly.
"The air by the river is nice, I want to sit for a while. You don’t need to worry about me!"
Although Noah Drexler agreed to let her move freely, when she went out in the evening, two bodyguards stuck to her side, impossible to shake off.
She had no choice but to let them follow, but now, thinking about it, it’s good to have two people helping, making it safer.
As she was talking to the bodyguards, a brightly lit cruise ship appeared on the river in the distance, moving towards them at a very slow speed.
When that cruise ship got a bit closer, Summer Shawcross quickly picked up the binoculars in her hand and looked over at the cruise ship.
