CHAPTER 169: SECRET

After searching the entire kitchen, Bai Hanyun still hadn’t found the missing chicken feet.

Looking around with a puzzled expression, she murmured, "Did I remember it wrong?"

Bai Hanyun stood there in thought for a moment before shrugging. "Whatever. Since they are gone, I will just make something else."

With that decision made, Bai Hanyun forgot about the missing food and made a new portion of braised chicken feet, along with reheated steamed meat buns.

When the food was ready, she divided it into two portions. Plating one on a ceramic dish, she packed the other into a lunch box with the steamed meat buns.

Placing the lunch box on the dining table, Bai Hanyun opened her laptop and watched a drama while eating. Half an hour later, she finished breakfast and washed the dishes.

Just as she was about to go to the backyard, a notification popped up on her phone.

Unlocking it, she read a message from the delivery team. [Miss Bai, we will arrive at your warehouse in twenty minutes.]

Seeing it was from the Sweet Bun Bun store, Bai Hanyun replied, "Got it. I will wait for you guys there, Brother."

After sending the reply, she put away her phone and went to the backyard.

As usual, Bai Hanyun walked to the tree by the riverside. Seeing the antique mirror still absorbing water, she grabbed the rope and pulled it out of the river.

Wiping the water droplets from the antique mirror’s surface, she glanced down at the river and noticed the water level was lower than it had been the day before.

Frowning slightly, Bai Hanyun sighed. "Looks like I need to find another water source. If this river’s water level keeps going down, it will affect people living nearby and attract unwanted attention sooner or later."

After making her decision, Bai Hanyun carried the antique mirror back to the dining room. After wiping it with a new cotton cloth, she placed it and the lunch box into her backpack.

Once she was ready, she slung the backpack over her shoulder and left the house.

Watching her exit with the backpack via the surveillance camera feed, Hua Yuyu got up from the couch and put on his jacket.

"Brother Yu, where are you going?" Bao Shengjie asked after swallowing his flatbread.

Without turning back, Hua Yuyu calmly replied, "Miss Bai is heading out. I will accompany her. You guys stay here."

Hearing this, Ouyang Zhuangyu asked, "Is she going to the warehouse?"

Hua Yuyu paused, turned to look at him, and nodded. "Mhm."

Getting the answer, Ouyang Zhuangyu smiled. "Then we will stay home."

"Alright. Call me if anything happens." Leaving those words behind, Hua Yuyu exited the capsule house.

After the door closed behind him, Bao Shengjie turned to Ouyang Zhuangyu and asked curiously, "Brother Zhuangyu, didn’t you want to check out the warehouse? Why’d you change your mind?"

Ouyang Zhuangyu calmly took a sip of his coffee and explained, "Yesterday, Brother Yu warned us not to dig into Miss Bai’s secret. Today, he told us to stay home. Can’t you see the connection?"

Hearing this, Bao Shengjie thought for a moment before his eyes widened in realization. "I get it! So her secret is in the warehouse."

Ouyang Zhuangyu nodded. "Exactly. So just stay home and play your game."

Bao Shengjie was disappointed, but he could only say, "Oh... Got it."

Meanwhile, Bai Hanyun and Hua Yuyu were on their way to the warehouse.

Sitting in the back seat, Bai Hanyun asked, "Brother Hua, should I buy a car for you guys?"

"I can buy one later using the money you gave me earlier," Hua Yuyu replied calmly.

Thinking that he probably knew better what kind of car they needed, Bai Hanyun agreed. "Alright. Let me know if you need more money."

"Mhm."

Glancing at her through the rearview mirror, Hua Yuyu hesitated for a moment before asking, "Miss Bai, may I ask why you bought so much high-carbon steel?"

Bai Hanyun yawned and casually answered, "I’m helping a friend. He lives far away and doesn’t have access to the seller."

After a pause, she added, "Brother Hua, I didn’t do anything illegal. Don’t worry."

Sensing she was telling the truth, Hua Yuyu nodded and then fell into deep thought.

Before long, they arrived at the warehouse.

Getting out of the car, Bai Hanyun said, "Brother Hua, you can go buy the car first. I might be here for a few hours."

Hearing this, Hua Yuyu thought for a moment and said, "Then I will go pick up Kaimu and Kaiye. They don’t talk much, so you won’t feel uncomfortable with them around."

Bai Hanyun nodded, then walked over to open the warehouse while Hua Yuyu went back to fetch the twins.

After a short wait, Bai Hanyun saw container trucks approaching in the distance. She opened the parking lot gate, signaled to the drivers, and waited.

Seeing they had brought larger containers today, she smiled at the team leader and said, "Brother, you brought more goods today."

The team leader smiled and handed her the delivery invoice. "Yes. Boss Li said you might need them urgently, so he postponed other deliveries to prioritize yours. We are bringing all your goods today."

Hearing this, Bai Hanyun smiled in delight. "Boss Li is always so considerate."

While the two of them chatted, the workers and drivers had already begun unloading the goods.

Soon, the sound of transport trolleys filled the area. As everyone busied themselves moving the items, Bai Hanyun and the team leader began counting the deliveries.

Fifteen minutes later, Hua Yuyu returned with Wang Kaimu and Wang Kaiye.

Looking at them, Hua Yuyu said, "Keep watch and don’t enter the warehouse without Miss Bai’s permission."

The twins nodded and replied in unison, "Yes, Brother Yu."

After giving them instructions, Hua Yuyu left. The twins then walked over to Bai Hanyun.

Seeing them approaching, she smiled, pointed to the chairs nearby, and said, "You two can sit there while I work."

They nodded and went to sit down.
