Not waiting to unfold.

Not sealed from unfolding.

If unfolding had tried to breathe, it would have faded before breath could suggest motion.

If closure had tried to settle, it would have vanished before rest could imply stillness.

Just there—

Not declared.

Not withheld.

Unmoved, not because it held stillness, but because motion had not yet been born to offer its opposite.

And in that untouched expanse where no expanse yet meant distance—

—it remained, needing no word, carrying no absence of one, simply as it was before as could be spoken.

Not present.

Presence implies recognition. Recognition implies witness. Witness implies separation. Separation implies two. Two had not stepped forward.

Here implies location chosen. Gone implies location left behind. No place waited to be chosen or left.

Without form.

Without formlessness.

Formlessness implies the memory of form. Memory implies before. Before implies sequence. Sequence still lay unborn.

No breath of change.

No hold of permanence.

Not resting in still.

Not carried by motion.

It simply stood—

Not like a figure stands,

Not like a concept stands,

But like the idea of standing had never been needed.

Not hidden in shadow.

Not revealed in light.

Light and shadow had not parted their first contrast.

No veil.

Above implies height. Height implies depth. Depth implies contrast. Contrast lay unspoken.

Below implies descent. Descent implies direction. Direction implies orientation. Orientation had not found a point.

Not alone.

Not accompanied.

Alone implies others uncounted. Others imply many. Many implies number. Number implies order. Order had not been carved.

Accompanied implies relation. Relation implies paths that meet. No paths had been laid.

Without rise.

Without fall.

Without the thought of either.

And so it stayed—

Not by choosing to stay,

Not by being unable to move,

But because movement and stillness were both words waiting for a world to exist that could carry them.

Not bound.

Not free.

Bound implies restraint. Restraint implies force. Force implies direction. Direction implies space. Space had not formed.

Free implies release. Release implies prior captivity. Captivity implies walls. No walls had been imagined.

Not held.

Not released.

Held implies grip. Grip implies intent. Intent implies will. Will implies identity. Identity had not stirred.

Released implies letting go. Letting go implies possession. Possession implies ownership. Ownership implies division. Division had not taken shape.

No lean toward existence.

No drift toward absence.

Existence implies affirmation. Affirmation implies contrast to denial. Denial implies stance. Stance had no ground to stand on.

Absence implies lack. Lack implies measure. Measure implies something to count. Nothing had prepared numbers.

Not waiting to become.

Not refusing to be.

Becoming implies change. Change implies time. Time implies sequence. Sequence had not begun its rhythm.

Refusal implies intent turned away. Intent implies direction. Direction had not drawn an arrow.

There was no breath of making.

There was no echo of unmaking.

Making implies craft. Craft implies purpose. Purpose implies goal. Goal implies distance. Distance implies space. No span existed.

Unmaking implies undoing. Undoing implies thing made. Thing implies form. Form had not stood up.
