My Coldhearted Husband’s Regret
Chapter 418 - 418 - Bidding Ground Showdown
For the following two to three days, Veronica immersed herself completely in the smart traffic project. Determined to create a flawless proposal, she ventured out multiple times to conduct thorough on-site evaluations. Her diligence paid off as she successfully submitted all bidding documents before the deadline closed.
When Dario received confirmation of her submission, he sent her a brief but appreciative text: "Good job."
He too had been swamped with responsibilities lately. Beyond managing DataPulse's internal affairs and overseeing the Dennis Group partnership, he'd attended two high-profile industry banquets. Following these events, executives from several autonomous vehicle companies had reached out, expressing interest in potential collaborations. Dario planned to thoroughly research each company before committing to any agreements.
Meanwhile, the partnership between DataPulse and Dennis Group was progressing remarkably well, already advancing to the next phase of their collaboration. To celebrate this successful venture, Cullen personally extended dinner invitations to Dario and another business partner.
Dario was responding to Veronica's message just as the dinner was concluding. Despite his personal dislike for Cullen, he couldn't deny Dennis Tech deserved its reputation as one of the country's premier technology companies. Their engineering team was exceptionally talented, making the collaborative process largely positive.
Unfortunately, not all aspects of the evening were pleasant—particularly when Dario encountered members of both the Crystal and Mack families. Finding them unworthy of his attention, he departed early without bothering to exchange pleasantries.
As he walked away, Bonnie smirked and leaned toward Niall, whispering conspiratorially, "Ever since Cullen's company began working with DataPulse, that woman has been parading around like she's the cornerstone of their collaboration. But she's been mysteriously absent these past few days. Perhaps reality finally sank in?"
She was clearly referencing Cullen's decision to gift Stellar to Niall, along with the autonomous vehicle project that was now garnering significant industry acclaim.
After Cullen's departure, Bonnie continued with smug satisfaction, "It doesn't matter how hard Veronica works. Dario will never hand her a billion-dollar company. She could dedicate her entire lifetime and still not reach your starting position!"
"Just think about it—she manipulated her way into marrying Cullen and even had his child, yet the assets she walked away with pale in comparison to what he casually handed to you. It's truly laughable! If I were in her position, I'd be absolutely crushed knowing Cullen gave you such wealth without hesitation."
Niall responded with only a faint smile, offering no verbal reply. In truth, she had experienced moments of insecurity when witnessing Veronica's impressive capabilities. But Bonnie's observation rang true—despite Veronica's efforts to grow close to Dario and her significant personal investment, what tangible benefits had she gained?
Even with improved skills and connections to influential figures like Dario and Malcolm, how many years would it take before she could match Niall's level of wealth and influence?
Aurora joined in with a chuckle, adding, "Well, some people simply exist in completely different leagues."
No matter Veronica's actions, she simply couldn't compare to Niall.
Claude remained silent but internally agreed with the sentiment. This explained why despite Veronica's persistent efforts, she had ultimately achieved so little.
That same evening, Veronica and Dario dined with an executive from a prominent autonomous vehicle company, discussing potential partnership opportunities.
Several days later, the moment arrived for the announcement of the smart traffic project bidding results. Niall accompanied Claude to the venue, arriving notably early. Confident in their chances of securing the contract, they engaged in relaxed conversation with other bidding participants, their demeanor reflecting assured self-assurance.
Veronica and Dario were the final attendees to arrive. When Niall and Claude spotted them, they visibly tensed. According to their information, DataPulse hadn't submitted a bid for this project—so why were they present?
Their appearance could only indicate one possibility, and the realization instantly dissolved the confidence and composure that had previously marked Niall and Claude's expressions. They understood that despite Cullen's backing, their chances against DataPulse were minimal at best.
In that moment, they both suddenly comprehended Veronica's recent absence from Dennis Group.
Without acknowledging Niall or Claude, Veronica and Dario walked directly past them, taking their seats amidst the surprised murmurs of the assembled crowd.
