CHAPTER 329: CHAPTER 329: MO YINHE’S MARRIAGE PROPOSAL: YES OR NO? 2

The piece ended. The man at the piano slowly rose, his hands clasped behind his back, his gaze deep and affectionate.

Si Mingjing had also illuminated all the marble tiles, and instantly, she felt as if she were immersed in a sea of flowers.

She tilted her head up slightly, her eyes meeting Mo Yinhe’s across the distance.

Her calm was stirred, a hint of playful pride in her voice as she asked, "What’s all this about?"

Mo Yinhe offered a devastatingly charming smile. "Mingjing, come here."

Si Mingjing didn’t want to move. She had just lit up all the tiles, completing the dynamic puzzle, and was now standing in a romantic sea of flowers, still savoring the moment, not yet having her fill.

No woman could resist such beauty and romance!

She was no exception.

"You come down. I don’t want to move. It’s beautiful here. It would be even better if these peach blossoms were real."

As she spoke, a breeze drifted from an unknown source, carrying pale pink peach petals that fluttered down from above the mausoleum.

She gasped and reached out. A few petals landed in her palm, their fresh, intoxicating fragrance filling the air.

The petals drifting from the sky perfectly complemented the dynamically shifting peach trees on the ground. The scene was breathtakingly beautiful...

So beautiful that Si Mingjing drew a soft breath.

At that moment, Mo Yinhe emerged from the palace.

He strolled leisurely, treading on the fallen peach blossoms as he walked towards her, the very picture of elegance and distinction.

Si Mingjing stood beneath the shower of petals, watching the devilishly handsome man, her phoenix-like eyes narrowed slightly.

"Did you crack the password beforehand, set a new one, and then lie in wait for me?"

This was the only possibility Si Mingjing could think of.

So, I’m not the woman the City Lord has been waiting for. All of this... it’s just because Mo Yinhe came in earlier, conquered the rope bridge, and cracked the password. That’s why I could cross the rope bridge, and why ’Baby’ was the password!

"Why haven’t you ever considered that I am the City Lord of Mengcheng, and that this is an underground palace I built specifically for you?"

Mo Yinhe, tall and long-limbed, stopped before her.

"I’ve seen the City Lord’s photograph in the corridor of Madam Duanmu’s home, the acting City Lord. You two don’t look alike."

"Then did you ask what the City Lord’s name is?"

Si Mingjing shook her head; she hadn’t asked.

Mo Yinhe wrapped his arms around her waist. "Do you like it here?"

"It’s lovely. That City Lord must be a truly romantic and devoted man. It’s a pity that the woman he loved can’t see all that he prepared for her. Instead, we’re the ones feasting our eyes on it. This trip was well worth it."

Mo Yinhe released her and, with a flourish of solemnity, bowed slightly. "Miss Si, may I have this dance?"

Si Mingjing chuckled softly. "Don’t tease me."

"You’re unwilling?"

Mo Yinhe looked up, his eyes deep and sparkling.

Si Mingjing couldn’t resist and placed her hand in his.

Mo Yinhe held her hand gently yet firmly.

Si Mingjing’s hand was slender and soft, her skin as fair as porcelain. Her nails were neatly trimmed, with a healthy pink glow that outshone any salon manicure.

Mo Yinhe cradled her hand in his palm as if holding a piece of precious jade, reluctant to let go.

Then, they began to waltz.

The music flowed from his ring phone.

Mo Yinhe’s steps were skilled and debonair, while Si Mingjing’s form was graceful and delicate. They danced slowly, softly.

Si Mingjing’s face flushed, her heart pounding. Dancing a waltz under a rain of petals was so beautiful, so enjoyable, it was utterly intoxicating!

Si Mingjing asked him, "How did you get in here? If I’d known you could get in, why would I have waited so long for Madam Duanmu?"

Mo Yinhe laughed, his breath warm.

Gazing at her flushed face, he felt a stir of emotion.

While waltzing with her, he leaned down and kissed her lips.

"I wanted to surprise you. Besides, you’re a doctor. How could I stop you from practicing medicine and healing the sick? Wouldn’t that diminish your good karma?"

In a past life, Duanmu Xue had been one of his most capable subordinates. She had governed Mengcheng diligently for years and had never disappointed him. Mo Yinhe held Duanmu Xue in high regard and didn’t want to prevent Mingjing from treating her.

When the song ended, he was reluctant to stop and pulled her into another dance.

He loved holding her waist, watching her move nimbly in his embrace.

That day, watching her solo dance on stage at the opening ceremony, Mo Yinhe had thought he must seize the chance to waltz with her, to see her slender, supple body dancing in his arms—that would be the moment he savored most.

"So, how exactly did you get in?"

Si Mingjing was still fixated on this question.

He’s so impressive, she thought. He managed to do what no one else could. Si Mingjing admired intelligent, powerful men; such men held a fatal attraction for her.

"How did you break through the lightning formation on the rope bridge, and how did you set it so I could pass?"

Si Mingjing’s mind was buzzing with questions.

She was completely distracted from the dance.

She’s such a killjoy, Mo Yinhe thought. Shouldn’t a woman be immersed in romance at a time like this, savoring the moment and ignoring everything else?

But Si Mingjing was determined to understand.

Her curiosity fueled her thirst for knowledge.

"It’s a secret," Mo Yinhe demurred, whispering, "Admit it, you’re impressed, aren’t you?"

Si Mingjing pursed her lips, her praise laced with frustration. "Yes, Crown Prince Yinhe, you’re amazing. Could you perhaps enlighten me and broaden my horizons?"

Her praise was clearly perfunctory. Mo Yinhe simply smiled, not answering directly, and said instead, "Have you ever seen a magic show?"

"Yes."

He still wouldn’t tell her, merely hugging her waist and chuckling, "Have you ever seen a magician explain the secrets behind their tricks to others?"

Si Mingjing huffed and fell silent.

As another song ended, Mo Yinhe took a small velvet box from his suit pocket and handed it to the still-pouting Si Mingjing.

"I have a gift for you. Do you want it?"

"What is it?"

Si Mingjing reached to open it.

Mo Yinhe pressed down on her slender hand. "First, say whether you want it or not. If you say yes, then you can open it."

"You’re not setting a trap for me, are you?"

"Mingjing, in your eyes, am I really such a cunning person?" Mo Yinhe’s eyes held a mischievous glint. He gently tapped her nose and feigned a hurt expression. "Saying that wounds my heart."

Si Mingjing asked, "Is today some kind of special holiday?"

Mo Yinhe nodded.

This will be a day for us to remember, he mused, our future proposal anniversary. That certainly counts as a special occasion. He had long wanted to propose to her again, properly.

"What holiday is it?"

I haven’t been on Earth long and don’t know much about its holidays, she mused. Valentine’s Day is over, and May 20th hasn’t arrived yet. What holiday could fall between them that would warrant him going to such elaborate lengths to surprise me?

Mo Yinhe still didn’t answer. His long fingers tilted her chin up, his voice gentle and coaxing, "So, do you want it or not?"
