Chapter 93: The God Level Spell (Bonus)
CHAPTER 93: THE GOD LEVEL SPELL (BONUS)
"Yes it is, and even more so when a mage with serious mana casts the spell. Its range could go as far as covering the entire academy," Elena was trying to say that the range of the spell was dependent on the amount of mana poured into it.
Aiden nodded his head in understanding of everything Elena had just said.
"I know we agreed that you only show me this spell, but can I ask you to teach me how to cast it?" Aiden asked politely.
He made this request because a side quest had been given to him to learn the god level spell. Merely copying it after seeing it on first usage would not have given him the experience points accrued to the quest.
"Alright. But it’s a really complex one and took me more than two years to really understand and cast. So don’t get disheartened if you don’t get it right away," Elena said.
Aiden smiled and simply nodded.
"First, you need to understand that you’re not making things invisible. Instead, you’re creating a separate space that overlaps with our reality. Second, the required amount of mana to cast the spell on first instance and the additional one you infuse to increase its range are two different things."
She went on to explain what the right amount for casting would be, and once she had given the overview, she then went straight to the instructions for it.
"Visualize a dome or a bubble expanding outwards from your position. This bubble you’re trying to create should be imbued with a strong desire to separate you and your surroundings away from this world yet still within it, and it has to make sense in your thoughts. If not, the limbo dome will never work."
Aiden nodded in understanding and closed his eyes, then whispered "Limbo Dome."
An invisible dome instantly spanned outwards from Aiden’s position, encircling the whole Academy field.
Aiden had used just the right amount of mana to cast the spell but went overboard with the amount of mana used to increase the range.
There were also some academy mages who were walking in the open field when they got caught within the Limbo Dome.
Within the dome itself looked like a dark translucent veil, and people inside would know they were within some sort of barrier, not the type they could possibly walk out of.
"Unbelievable..." Elena looked around her surroundings. She knew when the spell had been cast.
Aiden then opened his eyes slowly and a smile appeared on his face when he said, "I guess I got it right."
He looked around the dome to see the effect of what he had cast and then he saw some other mages he had unintentionally trapped in, also staring around in surprise wondering what this spell was.
That was when he immediately undid the spell.
"How is this even possible? How did you cast the spell correctly first try? Just how much mana do you have?" Elena was so flustered that she sat down on the ground without realizing.
"You’re the most brilliant mage I’ve ever seen," Elena said in total astonishment.
Aiden smiled and extended his hand to help her back up. Then she said, "And I think with that, the payment for finding the Purple Hermis Stone on my behalf has been completed."
Aiden nodded again with a smile on his face and said, "Yes, thank you," after which Elena turned and left.
The system then sent him new messages, first were his rewards:
[Side Quest: Learn the God Level Spell From Elena → Complete]
[+3 points to Intelligence stat]
[You have been awarded +40,000xp]
[Bonus Reward +25,000xp granted]
[The God level supplementary spell Limbo Dome has been copied]
[However, you’ve also made the spell yours by learning it. Shall I delete the variant under your copied spells slot?]
"Yes," Aiden simply said. There was no need maintaining two slots for the same spell.
Then Aiden asked, "Why wasn’t Dragon’s Sight able to see into the dome?"
[Dragon’s Sight is not at the level where it can see through other dimensions]
[However you could perceive the usage of Limbo Dome due to your authority over space. Upgrade your Authority over space to Ex rank and above to get a clearer perception of the spell when it’s in usage]
"Hm... I see" Aiden said to himself, realising it was probably time to start ranking his authorities up.
....
Later that night after dinner at the guild, Laela, who sat to Aiden’s side, leaned closer just a bit and said, "Come with me."
Admittedly, she was a bit tipsy. Most of them were. They were celebrating the entrance of a new guild member, Oliver, and therefore had some alcohol to go with their food.
Aiden went behind Laela as they both left the guild room.
Arianna saw this and whispered to Elena, who sat beside her, "Are they both sort of together?"
Elena smiled, "They don’t talk about it, so we act like we don’t know either. Moreover, shouldn’t you know they are?"
Well, it had been Liandrin’s soul in her body, sure, but not the original Arianna.
"Oh yeah..." Arianna said, then leaned backward. Truth was, Arianna only knew they were both close but not enough to be love interests.
Laela and Aiden were currently in the Academy’s field and under the same tree as earlier that day.
"Do you know what this tree is called?" Laela asked, with her face turned toward Aiden.
Aiden shook his head, and then Laela said, "It’s called Lover’s Oak."
She held him by the hand until they walked even closer to the tree, and on its body were carvings on the tree’s trunk.
She explained to Aiden that they were carvings of name initials of academy mages who were in love with each other.
Then she picked up a sharp rock from the ground and carved an "L" onto the tree’s trunk, then passed the rock to Aiden.
"Heh," Aiden smiled, then raised an index finger up and made a claw extend from it. With this, he carved his own initial "A" next to Laela’s.
They both looked at each other for a moment, and then almost in unison, they both leaned forward and kissed each other affectionately.
Even though their bodies yearned for more, they were in the open and right now it couldn’t be more than this.
Without really putting it into words, publicly expressing themselves this way also meant that somehow they had just entered a relationship.
