My Endless Loincloth Resurrection
Chapter 68: Heat Stroke
Sands blurred under the blazing morning sun. A caravan composed of a dozen armored mercenaries mounted on war horses was escorting a Merchant Mammoth, alert for any gankers waiting to attack them.
"Are you sure it'll be safe for us to pass here?" said the merchant riding on the Merchant Mammoth.
"No... but we will keep you safe," FireSnapper looked up and smiled at the Merchant.
"Don't worry, any sane person will not attack us here in Warring Kingdom after seeing that Alliance Flag," Then he pointed towards the Snake Infinity symbol biting its tail.
Whizz...
An arrow struck the eye of one of the mounted players, making him dismount and half roll to the ground, screaming in agony before he could pull out the arrow.
"AMBUSH! PROTECT THE MERCHANT!" FireSnapper commanded.
The Merchant Mammoth stampeded its way forward, while three mercenaries stopped and waited for the one that got hit by an arrow to use a potion, and mount before following the caravan.
Atop a small sandy hill, Dexter was using his binoculars, while being hidden by a camouflage like a spotter.
After placing all the Numbers in strategic positions, all either having a crossbow or a bow as a weapon swap, he then gave orders for each one to shoot, trying to lead the caravan into their trap.
Stella with Silf and Ena were prone on the sand while being covered by Dexter's camocloak.
This time, Stella, as usual, wearing her normal sets, while Silf was now using a Frost Staff for slow and frost effects, and Ena using a Monk's Staff for crowd control.
They waited, watching the Merchant Mammoth not far from them.
"The Merchant is panicking... Shai could easily kill him..." Stella whispered.
"Well, Master didn't give the signal yet..." said Ena.
Dexter only gave them a simple command: if they're ganking gankers, prioritize the healer. if they're ganking a merchant, kite the mercenaries to kill the merchant.
Though it was easier said than done, it really was the best tactic and proven in all fights.
Dexter studied the Mercenary Team composition, then moved his binoculars to the side to see where the Merchant Mammoth was headed.
'Time to go...'
After confirming that the Mammoth was heading to their trap where Stella and the two girls were hiding, he stood up, changed his binoculars into a Summoner Staff and his camouflage to a cloak... that could mitigate heat.
Summoning his favorite Spectral Panther he mounted it and gave commands to the Numbers that are still in their position to change equipment and proceed to where the trap is.
'/w Stella Arzois RELEASE THE KRAKEN!'
Activating the mount invisibility Dexter rushed in.
Stella looked where Dexter should be, upon noticing him becoming invisible, she looked at Silf who was still watching the Merchant Mammoth coming their way.
"Silf... do we have Kraken here?" Stella asked, confused.
"Huh? A Kraken? What is that?"
"I don't know... Dexter said to 'release the kraken'."
Ena who was listening to their conversation held the lever sticking out of the sand.
"Oh... maybe this?"
Ena didn't wait for the confirmation, she just immediately pulled it, activating the gears hidden beneath the sandy field in front of them.
With the sound of machinery gears, a pit immediately opened like a giant maw, where below was full of different kinds of spears sticking up like thousands of teeth.
Although the Mercenary Team tried to stop before the pit could fully open, the Merchant Mammoth behind them didn't have an ABS to stop for good, sending all the mercenaries in front of the mammoth in the pit.
FireSnapper watched his Mercenary Team and the one who hired him fall into the pit.
"How the fuck is this possible?! We're fucking allowed to change terrain in this world?"
Good thing there was an injured mercenary hit by an arrow in his eyes, if not, all of them would be in the pit right now, waiting for someone either to save them, or kill them without a fight.
Though the people below were still alive, FireSnapper, as a leader of a Mercenary Team, chose their Plan Z.
"Scatter... run!"
Yet before he could kick his mount to run, a chain suddenly latched onto his arms. Upon tracing where it came from, he saw a person wearing a cloak suddenly pull the chain to rush towards him.
FireSnapper, even though he preferred to use Ice Crystal to fight, he knows it was not advisable to use it in a disadvantagous position, especially when someone was restricting his arms.
Activating his leather jacket skill, a static field immediately rushed out, stunning Shai midair.
One of the mercenaries didn't fail FireSnapper's expectations; upon noticing Shai use her claw skill, he immediately dismounted and tried to interrupt her attack to defend him.
With his accurate slash, he beheaded her easily without any resistance.
"S-so soft! FUCK! They're newbies!"
Shai's head rolled, her blood clotting from the sand touching her bleeding neck, then it stopped, at an unnatural angle. Slowly, Dexter's mount materialized, removing its invisibility.
"You need to level up more so you could upgrade your equipment."
Dexter morphed his Summoner Staff into a Holy Staff and pointed it at Shai.
"Resurrect..."
Coughing, Shai continuously touched her neck checking if there was any sign of a wound.
Though she experienced dying repeatedly, she still couldn't get used to it, especially if resurrection is uncertain every time she dies.
FireSnapper stared at Dexter, confused, unsure.
"Y-you... I remember you! You're already dead goddamnit!" FireSnapper stepped back.
The horror brought to them by Dexter was still fresh in his mind, especially when one of his companions died just for a pack of cigarette in his loot bag.
It was the most embarrassing moment for him, yet an applauded one, because of his information on a cheater, the Happy Go Lucky gained billions of coins, with just that.
"Ohhh... you know me?" Dexter rubbed his chin, squinting his eyes while looking at FireSnapper's face.
"You... who are you again?"
FireSnapper, now without restriction, used his Ice Crystal and cast an Ice Bolt towards Dexter.
Dexter spread his arms, smiling and felt relieved.
"Thank you... I almost died because of the heat, you know..."
