Chapter 509 - 375: Three Women Compete, Three Joys Arrive_2
CHAPTER 509: CHAPTER 375: THREE WOMEN COMPETE, THREE JOYS ARRIVE_2
The faces of the two women changed multiple times.
The little fox on the side noticed that the three women seemed ready to continue their bickering and quickly tried to mediate:
"Stop fighting, stop fighting, it’s all the same, there’s no need to fight."
"Who’s fighting?!"
The three women responded in unison.
Yin Tingxue shrank her neck and withdrew timidly, not daring to interrupt.
The Empress Dowager remained silent, and none of the palace maids dared to intervene, while Dong Guifei watched the drama unfold with delight.
Only the little fox had a fleeting intention to mediate, but always found herself unable to speak.
She turned her head and looked at the man in question, Chen Yi.
Chen Yi was already covered in frustration, his eyes darting toward the mural on the wall depicting the battlefield of Asuras, where the Asura and Indra were locked in intense combat, unwilling to yield.
He could only temporarily observe and adapt, trying to come up with a plan.
Meanwhile, the three women continued their confrontation. Yin Weiyin, now outnumbered two-to-one, flushed and exclaimed:
"Quarreling in front of the Empress Dowager! What kind of propriety is this?"
Dong Gong Ruoshu, bold and brazen, was in no mood to back down:
"What, does the daughter of King Jing have anything more to squabble about? Aren’t you worried the Empress Dowager might laugh at you?"
As soon as the words fell, Yin Weiyin became even angrier, replying coldly:
"I am the daughter of King Jing, half a member of the Heavenly Family. So what if I am laughed at? You, Dong Gong Ruoshu, with no sense of timing—should you marry into the family, you’d only be a shrew everyone despises!"
Dong Gong Ruoshu heard herself directly insulted. Furious to the point that her chest heaved, she was about to retort when Lin Wanxiao stepped in first:
"I’ve heard that King Jing’s daughter seeks the favor of the Taichua Goddess, cultivating a path of supreme emotional detachment. Yet tonight, it turns out you’re merely a fox squabbling over marriage."
"Who are you calling a fox?!"
Dong Gong Ruoshu retorted, "I’m calling you a fox!"
"You’re the fox, not me!"
"Why can you call me a fox, but I can’t call you a fox?"
Yin Weiyin’s delicate brows furrowed as alcohol and anger mingled. Though she was initially pursued for marriage, Dong Gong Ruoshu was now set on stealing her groom and had even allied with Lin Wanxiao to insult her.
Fuming, she counterattacked: "As the King’s daughter, I can call you a fox. But you, a fox, cannot call me the King’s daughter."
Dong Gong Ruoshu sneered coldly: "What grand authority. I wonder whose engagement will end up canceled in the end."
In her heated moment, Dong Gong Ruoshu unconsciously included herself as Chen Yi’s wife.
Dong Gong Ruoshu assumed a calm, queenly tone and said, "Yin Immortal, rest assured. When you visit Chen Manor to see my husband, I will turn a blind eye to it."
Suddenly, her poised demeanor carried the air of a rightful mistress. Yin Tingxue looked on jealously, while the maid Xia Chan was almost moved to tears.
"You... you..." Yin Weiyin stammered, unable to form coherent words.
Dong Gong Ruoshu felt an immense sense of satisfaction.
Yin Weiyin suddenly hatched a plan, stepping forward.
She bypassed Dong Gong Ruoshu and wrapped her arm around Chen Yi, smiling sweetly:
"Even if you marry and enter the family someday, what of it? The ranking within the household is ultimately decided by the Family Head. He has his own judgment about who his rightful wife is.
Oh~ I almost forgot. He and I have already shared a bridal chamber night together. Thinking back now, doesn’t that make me the rightful one?"
As her statement dropped,
Dong Gong Ruoshu and Lin Wanxiao’s expressions changed once more. Caught in the heat of disagreement, they had overlooked this matter. Now they stood wide-eyed and dumbfounded, their facial expressions stiffening.
The gaze of all the women turned toward Chen Yi once again.
Their competitive intent within their brows seemed sharp enough to transform into swords, ready to cut Chen Yi—and perhaps Hou Kang Sword—into four or five pieces.
The Empress Dowager’s face, obscured by shadows, wasn’t marked by urgency but instead held a trace of amusement as she observed the women squabble at the table.
The more women Chen Yi attracted, the more coveted he became, displaying his exceptional allure.
A parent’s heart is nothing if not wistful. How could she not hope for her capable official to be in high demand?
Yin Weiyin suppressed her unease, gently clutching his arm, unusually tender. She adjusted his sleeve softly and spoke with an almost motherly warmth:
"Why didn’t you fix your sleeve while eating? It’s already dirty."
Chen Yi blinked his eyes repeatedly, staring at Yin Weiyin as if she were a ghost.
The female crown gave him a meaningful look.
The implied sentiment was that while he had promised to treat her as the Taichua Goddess in public, back home he could treat her however he pleased... But in public, she *must* be treated as a Goddess!
At the table, the gazes of all the women were fixed upon Chen Yi. That dark-clothed household officer sat at his spot, his face radiant under the candlelight.
Yet he remained motionless, silent, leaving only his eyes darting back and forth.
The three women grew apprehensive upon witnessing this, noting his prolonged silence, and collectively assumed he was trying to appease everyone—balancing multiple commitments.
Great Yin’s princess and the young widow first furrowed their brows, their eyes tinged with disappointment. Miss Donggong, being simpler in mind, continued to stare directly at him.
Chen Yi glanced at her snow-white and voluptuous figure.
Dong Gong Ruoshu froze briefly and hastily raised her hand to cover herself. Chen Yi shifted his gaze away, landing it on Yin Weiyin’s face.
The female crown smirked, her expression full of triumph—it seemed Chen Yi favored her in the end.
Dong Gong Ruoshu sensed something amiss, pondered briefly, and slightly lowered her hand...
Swipe!
Chen Yi’s eyes slashed downward like blades, landing directly upon the cleavage of her chest.
Yin Weiyin’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Dong Gong Ruoshu hastily covered herself again.
Chen Yi’s gaze shifted back to Yin Weiyin.
Dong Gong Ruoshu lowered her arm.
Chen Yi swiped his gaze once again.
Over and over, Great Yin’s princess finally couldn’t hold back. Her cheeks flushed with anger, she snapped: "You... you... you’re deliberately humiliating me!"
She was about to leave angrily when she noticed Chen Yi’s unusually flushed face and his tightly clenched arm.
Yin Weiyin paused, momentarily stunned.
Suddenly, Chen Yi croaked out in a hoarse voice:
"I... I... I’ve been drugged.
Y-Yuchun Ointment!"
Yuchun Ointment?!
Those three simple words dropped. Aside from Dong Gong Ruoshu and Lin Wanxiao, all the other women were stunned and rooted where they stood.
