CHAPTER 748: CHAPTER 668: FALLING FOR YOU FROM THE FIRST GLANCE 9_3
The person stopped talking. If they continued, it would have blown their cover, so what else was there to say?
They could only drive, following Secretary Zhou’s GPS instructions. Jian Dan had slept on the plane and was not tired now; it was not completely dark yet, and the temperature was worryingly high. Her complexion looked a bit off. Bo Qin set aside his work, leaned down to look at her, and his hand touched her forehead, "What’s wrong? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
Jian Dan shook her head, her little face flushed red, "Uncle Qin, I feel a bit unwell."
Bo Qin frowned, wondering if it was a case of not acclimating to the local environment. Initially, when he brought the little girl from Feng City to the capital, didn’t she also struggle to acclimate? He felt somewhat anxious and commanded Secretary Zhou, "Go to the hospital first."
Secretary Zhou understood instantly and switched the GPS to the nearest hospital. On reaching the hospital, Bo Qin did not wait for anyone’s help and immediately carried Jian Dan out of the car and rushed into the hospital, while Secretary Zhou took care of all Bo Qin’s belongings.
He apologized to the people who had come to pick them up, "Sorry, you can go back first. We will make our own way to the hotel later, there’s been a sudden emergency, so today’s meeting will have to be postponed."
"Yes, alright."
Even if the pickup staff felt any dissatisfaction, they didn’t dare show it. Only after they were out of sight did they frown and sigh, realizing that the little girl must have some significant background.
Bo Qin stood outside in the corridor waiting for the examination results, tall and upright, sticking out amidst the crowd, his slightly furrowed brows revealing his anxiety and concern. Secretary Zhou walked up to him.
"Mr. Bo, I’ve canceled tonight’s meeting," he said.
"Mhm, good," Bo Qin replied.
Nothing was more important than Jian Dan. Meetings could be rescheduled, but Jian Dan didn’t look well.
Soon after, the doctor came out and briefly explained Jian Dan’s condition to Bo Qin. It wasn’t anything serious; it was just the temperature difference making the little girl momentarily unwell, along with a mild heatstroke. She would be fine with some rest.
Bo Qin let out a sigh of relief and asked whether she needed to be hospitalized for observation. The doctor said it wasn’t necessary. Secretary Zhou followed the doctor to get the medicine and handle the payment, while Bo Qin went to the ward to sit beside Jian Dan. Her little face was so red that she looked a bit embarrassed.
In truth, she felt very apologetic.
"Uncle Qin, I’m sorry for holding up your work. If you hadn’t brought me along, we wouldn’t have faced all these issues," she said.
Bo Qin didn’t blame her at all. Seeing her so guilty, he felt even sorrier for her. He patted her head, "Why are you apologizing to Uncle Qin? It’s my fault for not considering whether you could withstand this. It’s all my fault. As long as you don’t blame me, that’s good. We can hold the meeting anytime. You don’t need to feel guilty, okay?
And you don’t need to be hospitalized. When Secretary Zhou comes back, we can go to the hotel. Don’t feel like you owe anyone anything."
Jian Dan’s eyes were red. She rubbed her face into Bo Qin’s palm, "Mhm, thank you, Uncle Qin."
Seeing the little girl act like a tiny kitten was heart-wrenching. Bo Qin smiled patiently. Secretary Zhou finished up at the hospital and even arranged for a car to come. Once everything was settled, he notified the two that they could leave.
It was about a forty-minute drive from the hospital to the hotel. Secretary Zhou encouraged a weary Jian Dan to rest a bit. But she shook her little head like a rattle, insisting on not sleeping,
Bo Qin, amused, reached out to press the little girl’s head to rest on his shoulder, "Sleep a bit and freshen up. When we get to the hotel, I’ll wake you up."
Jian Dan originally didn’t want to sleep, but leaning against Bo Qin and smelling his pleasant scent, she dozed off into a peaceful sleep.
Secretary Zhou chuckled, "The young miss is still a child."
Bo Qin also smiled, "She is indeed small, only in her second year of high school. Of course, she’s a child. Pass the message down, tonight’s meeting will proceed as usual. Ask Wen Xue to take care of Jian Dan. You temporarily take over her work. Make a call back to Bo Corporation and have the second secretary come with two assistants to help out. You will still need to return to me tomorrow."
Secretary Zhou noted Bo Qin’s organized instructions and responded one by one, "So Wen Xue will take care of the young miss for the next couple of days?"
"Yes. Wen Xue has been stationed here for a few years and is familiar with the area. It’s perfect for her to take Jian Dan shopping for clothes and touring Hai City tomorrow. I brought her out of goodwill and didn’t plan for her to wait in the hotel for me all the time. Someone has to spend time with her. If I don’t have time, then I need to make sure others do. Cancel all the evening social meetings; I want to be with Jian Dan tonight."
Secretary Zhou nodded, "Yes, Mr. Bo. I will arrange everything."
