CHAPTER 783: CHAPTER 680: LIKING YOU, FROM THE FIRST GLANCE 21_2
The figure paused for a moment and turned to look back, confirming that it was indeed Jian Dan.
She hurriedly got out of the car, instructed the driver to leave, and stood by the gate of the neighboring house, waving to Jian Dan, "Jian Dan, it’s me, Zhao Linlin."
Jian Dan quickly hid her look of disappointment, revealing a slight smile, and walked out to Zhao Linlin, "Zhao Linlin, what are you doing here?"
Zhao Linlin exclaimed, "My cousin lives right here."
She pointed at the villa behind her, "I had no idea we’d run into each other like this, you live here too."
Jian Dan was taken aback for a moment, "It really is a coincidence, have you had breakfast yet, would you like to come to my place for some?"
Zhao Linlin thought about it; her cousin certainly hadn’t prepared breakfast for her, and she hadn’t notified her of her arrival, so she figured she wouldn’t have any breakfast to eat.
So with a smile, she took Jian Dan’s arm, "Then thank you, I haven’t eaten yet, have you?"
As the host, Jian Dan just smiled, "I was about to eat, you’re up so early."
Zhao Linlin, "I came over for a meal, and I didn’t expect to run into you, but now that I have, I’ll join you for breakfast."
Lin’s mother noticed that Jian Dan had stepped out to see Bo Qin off without clearing the breakfast table. She intended to wait till Jian Dan returned so she could eat more. She always ate so little; how could she grow?
Unexpectedly, Jian Dan returned from outside, bringing a guest with her.
The decor at Jian Dan’s home had been steered by Bo Qin, entrusted to Secretary Zhou, and resembled the style of his apartment—simple yet elegant. It was extremely comfortable to look at, with no partitions, only decorative screens, making the space seem much larger all of a sudden.
After greeting Lin’s mother and introducing herself, Zhao Linlin couldn’t help but sigh, "The place you live in is just too nice. Even though it’s the same type of villa as my cousin’s, why does yours have such a special vibe, while my cousin’s place feels tacky and outdated?"
Jian Dan took a seat opposite her and couldn’t help but laugh and cry, "Does your cousin know you talk about her home like that?"
Zhao Linlin hurriedly gestured, "She definitely doesn’t know, and it’s not necessary to tell her. She’d end up chasing me and beating me, forbidding me from coming over again?
We’re such good friends; I’m just venting to you. Someday, you should give me a chance to drag her over to see for herself;
she’ll then know how bad her place is without me having to say a word."
Jian Dan: "...Is that even possible?"
Zhao Linlin nodded, "Why not? Everyone likes beautiful things.
Mmm, Lin’s mother’s breakfast is really delicious, and this crab roe bun is amazing. Lin’s mother, would you be interested in a job switch?"
Jian Dan nearly lobbed a bun at her, "Shut up, Lin’s mother won’t be switching jobs."
Lin’s mother hurried out from the kitchen, all smiles, "Linlin, you like it? Then have more. Next time when you’re around, just come here for breakfast. It’s only Jian Dan here, and it gets a bit boring. Lin’s mother, thank you for the high regard, but I won’t switch jobs, I’m used to it here."
Zhao Linlin expressed her regret, "Ah, that’s a shame."
"Get lost," Jian Dan snapped.
Zhao Linlin laughed, "You actually have a day when you swear, it’s an honor for me. Since Lin’s mother won’t budge, how about I poach you? After I finish breakfast, I’ll take you to my cousin’s."
"That doesn’t seem appropriate."
Jian Dan inwardly refused; showing up out of the blue like this just felt off.
Plus, she had never met the person living across from her, even though they had been neighbors for so long. If Zhao Linlin hadn’t come, she would have had no idea anyone was living there.
Zhao Linlin dismissed the concern with a wave, "What’s so bad about it? My cousin is nice, albeit a bit haughty. Come on, let’s go, I’m done eating."
Upon seeing Zhao Linlin’s cousin, Jian Dan understood why she called her haughty—wasn’t she just?
The drummer of the popular H2O band, Mu Qing,
was explosively popular online. Jian Dan stared at Mu Qing for a long while before Mu Qing laughed, "Zhao Linlin, where did you find such a treasure? So cute."
Jian Dan blushed and looked away, fussing with her head beside Zhao Linlin as they entered the house. Zhao Linlin immediately began complaining, "Sis, your decor really is old-fashioned. You should take a look at Jian Dan’s house, it’s truly incredible."
Mu Qing was unfazed, "I don’t live here often, what’s there to decorate? Isn’t punk style good enough?"
"Good? It’s tacky and lame," scorned Zhao Linlin.
Mu Qing gave her a sideways glance, "If you don’t like it, beat it. I didn’t ask you to live here. Spare me your critiques; they aren’t pleasant to hear."
Jian Dan smiled, finding the two of them quite interesting. Mu Qing’s gaze fell on Jian Dan’s face, and with a light smile, she asked, "Do you live next door?"
