My Happy Daily Life After Being Reborn
Chapter 489 - 18 Naming Issues
CHAPTER 489: CHAPTER 18 NAMING ISSUES
The weather was just right that day, and Han Xinyu had invited Lin Xiaoguai to go shopping together.
The two went to a department store where Han Xinyu made a beeline for the yarn section.
"What do you need the yarn for?" Lin Xiaoguai asked, puzzled.
She remembered her niece was not one for handicrafts; she hadn’t even sewn on a button, let alone knitting a sweater.
"I’m planning to knit some sweaters for the baby," Han Xinyu said, pulling out a light green yarn. "Little Aunt, what do you think of this one?"
Lin Xiaoguai touched it and shook her head, "No, it’s not soft enough. The baby won’t be comfortable wearing this."
"And what made you think of knitting sweaters for the baby?" Lin Xiaoguai asked. In the past, she had always been impatient with such things.
"It’s really just something to pass the time," Han Xinyu admitted, somewhat embarrassed. "My mother-in-law is really worried about me. She won’t even let me work. When I’m at home, she’s always doing something for me, and if I don’t find something to occupy myself, I’d go crazy."
Lin Xiaoguai didn’t think much of it; she had met Nuonuo’s mother-in-law and she wasn’t a harsh person, just a bit thoughtless sometimes. Perhaps because she had been pampered before her marriage, she was a bit naive, transparent about her likes and dislikes, and a bit spontaneous in her actions.
Her not letting Nuonuo work was merely out of concern for her grandchildren, as it was said that she herself accidentally lost her first child due to carelessness.
Considering she genuinely liked her daughter-in-law, Nuonuo’s mother-in-law’s pride might otherwise have made her unapproachable.
"But are you sure you can do it?" Lin Xiaoguai expressed her concern.
She hadn’t forgotten the time her niece had wanted to learn embroidery from her and almost turned her hand into a sieve.
"I’m not very confident either," Han Xinyu sheepishly replied. "But my mother-in-law is learning with me, so if I fail, she’ll be there."
Lin Xiaoguai rolled her eyes silently and said, "Alright, I’ll knit a few sweaters for the baby myself. I’ll make some other little clothes too."
"Little Aunt, you’re the best!" Han Xinyu excitedly hugged Lin Xiaoguai and planted a big kiss on her cheek.
Since she was a child, she had always envied her cousins who were Little Aunt’s kids. Not for anything else, but because their clothes were all personally made by Little Aunt, and she couldn’t help feeling envious.
Unfortunately, her mother, despite having the face and temperament of a good wife and wise mother, had absolutely no talent for handicrafts, something she had inherited from her.
"Be careful with your belly," Lin Xiaoguai was startled and couldn’t help but complain. "No wonder your mother-in-law is worried about you; you really make it hard for others to feel at ease."
"Isn’t it just because I’m too happy?"
With Lin Xiaoguai’s help, Han Xinyu picked out some baby-appropriate yarn, and she couldn’t resist buying some baby pacifiers, bottles, and a few small toys.
"Little Aunt, let’s go eat," suggested Han Xinyu, noticing it was getting late. "I know a good restaurant nearby owned by a classmate; we can get a discount there."
"Whatever you want," Lin Xiaoguai had no objection.
The restaurant Han Xinyu recommended was indeed nice. Although they had just sat down, the ambiance already pleased Lin Xiaoguai.
"Little Aunt, chicken stew with mushrooms is this restaurant’s signature dish, let’s order that. The sweet and sour carp is also good; I’ve had it before. We are only two people, so another vegetable dish will be enough. Di sanxian, stir-fried three shreds, oyster sauce lettuce, ginger spinach, which one do you want?" Han Xinyu asked while holding the menu.
"Ginger spinach then, don’t you love spinach?" Lin Xiaoguai said with a light laugh.
"Isn’t that Chairman Lin?" Just as they were about to hand the menu to the waiter, a surprised voice came.
The two turned their heads, Lin Xiaoguai’s expression froze imperceptibly but composedly replied, "Oh, Miss Xu."
Seeing Lin Xiaoguai, Xu Meimei’s eyes brightened, "What a coincidence, Chairman Lin is dining here too? It’s better to meet by chance than by appointment, how about we join tables?"
She had been going to the Charitable Foundation to block people, but Lin Xiaoguai had always been away; she had not expected her luck to be so good as to run into her while dining out.
She figured that once they got to know each other better, Lin Xiaoguai would surely invite her over to her house.
Han Xinyu frowned, but Lin Xiaoguai calmed her with a glance before turning to politely refuse, "I’m sorry, it’s really not convenient."
Disappointed, Xu Meimei seemed about to say something more, but when she met Lin Xiaoguai’s seemingly smiling yet forbidding gaze, she dared not continue.
