Chapter 153 - 53 Egg Roll_3
CHAPTER 153: CHAPTER 53 EGG ROLL_3
Du Xixi’s appetite now is at best that of an average person, though luckily, Ke Xing and his son have large appetites. Even though finishing everything left them stuffed, nothing was wasted at all.
Ke Xing rubbed his stomach, wanting to get up, but chose to sit for a while longer. Looking satisfied, he said, "I’m really full! But I might have to go out for a walk again."
He had gone for a walk in the morning because he had nothing to do after breakfast, heading out to chat with old friends. But the walk later was because he was too full; without walking off his meal, he felt his stomach wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Ke Lian’s digestive system is obviously a bit better than Ke Xing’s. After some light rubbing, his slightly furrowed brows relaxed a bit, and he leaned lazily against the back of the chair, absentmindedly playing with Du Xixi’s fingers: "I have to head back to the Military Department to deal with some things, but I’ll be back before dinner."
Du Xixi was also very full, but she managed to control her appetite, so she felt a little more at ease: "Then I’ll make some snacks at home while waiting for you to come back, and let my brother have a taste too."
If Du Xixi wanted to try out some dishes, Ke Lian might have stopped her, but since it was just snacks, he knew Du Xixi wouldn’t tire herself out, so he rested assured, patting the back of her hand softly, and said, "Make sure 2569 and Miao Miao accompany you, and leave all the heavy work to 2569."
A piece of advice that should be given, Ke Lian never let it be missed.
"Don’t worry!"
Du Xixi had heard these words so many times that her ears were callused, but her heart was still warm, and with a gentle expression, she also reminded Ke Lian: "Be careful on the road, the injury has healed only recently, even if you are exercised, take care."
Du Xixi didn’t know the intensity of Ke Lian’s training, only that Ke Lian was strict with himself, but training at home was certainly different from going out.
The outside world was fraught with dangers, and Du Xixi was not at ease about Ke Lian.
After exchanging a few more words of caution with each other, Ke Lian finally left, but Ke Xing had long gone. He would rather go around extra corners, chatting with his old buddies far away, than stay at home and watch the public displays of affection!
Once the house quieted down all at once, Du Xixi felt a bit lost, as if she hadn’t experienced such quietness in a long time. But when she thought about the snacks she was about to prepare, she perked up again, calling 2569 and Miao Miao to join her in the kitchen.
The bowls and dishes on the dining table were already cleaned up by 2569.
When she said she’d make snacks, Du Xixi actually just wanted to make egg rolls—egg rolls, golden and crispy snacks, one bite and it’s full of crispness, the rich flavor of sesame and eggs mixed together, a flavor Chen Yin really loves.
Indeed, the sudden desire to make egg rolls was all because of Chen Yin. Her dear brother had come out of the Imperial Palace after much toil, and just having a chat could put him to sleep. Clearly, his days before were not very easy.
Du Xixi couldn’t deal with official matters or come up with any great ideas to lessen Chen Yin’s burden, so she could only make some of Chen Yin’s favorite snacks as a gesture of care and comfort.
The egg liquid and sifted flour were mixed evenly, with some sesame added in, and the simple original egg roll mixture was ready.
It didn’t require much technique, and once the special electric pancake warmer was heated, a ladle of golden mixture was poured in; as the lid pressed down, the fragrant aroma wafted out.
Du Xixi used a chopstick to catch one side of the egg roll skin, gently rolling it inward, and the tubular egg roll successfully came off the electric pancake warmer, quickly cooling and hardening to become a true egg roll.
Du Xixi worked quickly and soon finished off the large bowl of egg roll mix, turning them all into aromatic egg rolls which were neatly stacked on a plate beside her.
Miao Miao watched the egg rolls with unblinking eyes under her hood, feeling that these golden tubular snacks were incredibly appealing, the aroma constantly tempting her.
However, since Du Xixi hadn’t said they could eat, Miao Miao refrained from reaching for the egg rolls. This was a basic etiquette taught by 2569.
Seeing Miao Miao’s little act of discreetly swallowing, Du Xixi smiled helplessly, guessing why Miao Miao didn’t reach for the egg roll. Taking the initiative, she placed a freshly made, still slightly warm egg roll into Miao Miao’s hand: "Just take one if you want to eat, you don’t need to hold back so much in front of me, Miao Miao can be more at ease."
had taught Miao Miao etiquette well, what should be understood, Miao Miao understood, what should be done, Miao Miao also understood. But at the same time, what shouldn’t be understood, Miao Miao understood none, and what shouldn’t be done, Miao Miao didn’t do.
Du Xixi thought she might need to take some time to go through the rules and etiquette Miao Miao now understood, since what the housekeeper robot taught met public etiquette standards but was far too restrained.
Du Xixi didn’t want Miao Miao to be this restrained in her presence; she was cuter when she didn’t understand anything at all and just wanted to put her legs on the couch.
