CHAPTER 251: INTO THE SAVANNAH!

Hal and Liora easily understood why the place was called the Savannah of Carnage.

Before they could even descend from the Manatech Motorcycle, the trio saw explosions that sent clouds of dust billowing, and impacts that scattered pebbles and dry bushes as two beasts panted in a desperate chase for life and death.

It was yet another place of utter chaos.

Hal was inwardly pleased at the sight of the chaotic scenes, fully knowing that he would thrive here.

He had a lot of spells at his disposal, all of which would aid him in surviving, hunting, and gathering everything he needed.

At least in this location.

Crafting a unique-tier artifact, while not necessarily harder than a rare-tier one, wouldn’t be so easy, especially since the utility he needed was for combat.

He had to gather a large number of materials from multiple locations.

The only good thing was that those areas weren’t that far from this one.

’Alright, let’s get started...’

The first thing Hal planned to do was secure a location for themselves.

Beasts and monsters in the Savannah of Carnage are very sensitive about territories, so if the trio wanted a safe base of operations and a range of hunting grounds, they would have to invade a territory, and the domains of the A-ranked kings weren’t the brightest choice.

Hal was a changed man now, however, researching well before heading out.

While he wasn’t sure whether the most recent domain map of the savannah was still up to date, there shouldn’t be many changes.

There was a small territory east of the savanna.

Prey were apparently scarce there, and so only B-ranked beasts and small monster tribes and clans resided in that area.

It was a good starting point.

As much as Hal wanted to go there using the Manatech Motorcycle, the engine revs are too loud, and they might get targeted by a huge monster tribe before they even make it to their destination if they used it as their means of transport.

So Hal summoned his Manatech Hoverboard instead.

"You don’t know how to ride a hoverboard, do you?" he asked Liora, and she nodded. "Well, ride Loki, then."

The white-haired young maiden was slightly dumbfounded at the instruction, unsure whether she could do it, as she had no experience in wolfback-riding.

Hal noticed her hesitation and led by demonstration.

He pulled on Loki’s long, black fur without hesitation to climb onto the pup’s back, showcasing to Liora how tough the wolf companion was.

There was no need to overthink about whether she would hurt Loki.

After all, not only was she smaller and lighter than Hal, but the physical force she could exert was also considerably weaker than his.

Watching in amazement and slight excitement, Liora waited for her comrade to descend the beast’s back before trying it herself.

Riding Loki turned out to be surprisingly comfortable for her.

"Well then, follow me."

Hal hopped on his hoverboard and headed east, with his wolf companion and comrade following closely behind.

It wasn’t too difficult for Loki to keep up in terms of speed.

As for stamina, they could worry about it once the pup’s breathing was growing heavier, and it didn’t seem like such a thing would happen too soon.

The Savannah of Carnage was terrifyingly vast.

If not for the slightly thinner mana density compared to forests, mountains, and other, more difficult to traverse locations, perhaps this place would have been called the Savannah of the Apocalypse, or something.

Nonetheless, one could easily imagine how beast and monster tribes would thrive here, as the location truly had everything.

Water, food, vegetation, fresh air.

What more could a wild creature want? The thinner mana density was probably but a small tradeoff for them.

Around twenty minutes later, the trio stopped traveling along the edges and officially entered the savanna, heading further and further east.

The shrubbery and trees lessened the deeper they went.

This was probably not good for those living in the eastern region of the savanna, but to Hal and his little group, it was somewhat of an advantage.

All he needed was not to die instantly in a successful ambush, and he would mop the floor with any creature in this area of the savanna.

Of course, he wouldn’t dare claim that he could take on an entire tribe or clan, but Hal wouldn’t be stupid to provoke one without an effective plan in mind.

It was almost impossible to find himself in such a troublesome position, either, especially with the lack of visual cover for the beasts and monsters.

Soon, flora were almost nonexistent.

It was as though they were in a vast wasteland instead.

Hal found it difficult to believe how creatures would thrive here.

Perhaps they have some hidden water source somewhere, but food was certainly far scarcer.

The only other reason he could think of was that those living here were certain they wouldn’t survive in the center, where only the most savage of tribes, clans, packs, and prides thrived.

Prey, water, and vegetation were plenty, sure, but what sense would there be in living there if they would be chased out every time they managed to successfully hunt for themselves?

It would indeed probably be better to play kings in the outer regions.

Hal stopped momentarily and retrieved a crude map he had sketched for himself, checking the surroundings to see where he was.

They should be near the territory of a Bloodberserker Boar, a tough and dangerous B-ranked beast.

The bastards were quite the difficult hunt.

There were two reasons why he chose to fight this creature instead of a small tribe.

First, its urine is mixed with a small amount of its foul-smelling blood, making it easier for enemies to determine that they were in the territory of such a troublesome beast.

Only the desperate dared f*ck around with Bloodberserker Boars.

This would make their base of operations a bit more secure.

Second, the beast usually lives in a spacious burrow it carefully dug, which would be quite the cozy accommodation for the trio.

A little bit of renovation and they would be sleeping soundly every night.

It would be difficult for Hal to pinpoint the exact location of the burrow, but with Loki around...
