CHAPTER 190: CONFIRMATION

"THIS ISN’T KUNWOO-ssi’s Holy Sword? I’m sorry, but I can’t tell."

Soobin wasn’t surprised by what Lee Cheongsan­, an A-Class Hunter who was also his best friend and right-hand man, said while looking at the broken Holy Sword on the table.

After all, Cheongsan was a Hunter and not a Blacksmith.

"It’s Kunwoo-ssi’s sword, but also not," Soobin said. He was aware that his words were contradicting. But that was the best way to explain it. "I’ve fixed Kunwoo-ssi’s Holy Sword countless times already, so I know how his sword feels." He carefully ran his fingers on the smooth and cold flat surface of the blade. "This looks the same, but it feels brand new."

He didn’t want to get stuck in his office for work when Wonhee was ’missing.’

But the System assured them that his baby sister was ’safe’ in a dungeon.

It wasn’t like he could do anything when the System already assured them that it would bring Wonhee back safely, so he just stayed put and did his job.

"Well, Kunwoo-ssi has always been suspicious," Cheongsan said. "Especially these days."

"Did you say that Lee Seodam went with Kunwoo-ssi on a secret mission recently?"

"Yes, that’s right. Unfortunately, he noticed that they were being tailed. They lost our Hunters halfway."

That wasn’t surprising.

After all, Kunwoo was a Hunter capable of fighting Hwang Frost on equal footing.

Soobin tapped his fingers on the table while thinking. "Kunwoo-ssi and Lee Seodam went on a secret mission the night Song Sunho was murdered."

Cheongsan was there to give him the report about Song Sunho’s death.

APA decided to keep the Autumn Guild’s Vice Guildmaster’s death a secret from the public. Aside from the Special Forces (Cracks Division), only the Big 4 were informed about what happened earlier.

The fact that Song Moonho snapped already leaked to the public, though.

[After all, there are many Civilians who recognized him and took photos of him.]

But, fortunately, that matter had already been solved.

"Fortunately, the Civilians who reported seeing Song Sunho’s body in the church didn’t recognize him because of his terrible state. Plus, the Civilians were too shocked to look at the body," Cheongsan said. "Thanks to that, we were able to keep Song Sunho’s death a secret."

Soobin nodded in agreement. "We’re also lucky that Captain Lee is quick-witted and honest. He hasn’t been corrupted by APA yet, so we can trust him to help us prevent mass panic. The Civilians would only get scared if they find out another member of the Big 4 has snapped. But we have to catch the culprit before Song Moonho does."

"Did Kunwoo-ssi drop his Holy Sword here to prove his innocence? Since Song Sunho’s body was chopped off before getting sewn back and he’s the best Swordmaster in Korea, it’s inevitable for him to be suspected," Cheongsan wondered out loud. "Kunwoo-ssi knows you can tell if he had used his sword to kill a person for the last twenty-four hours, so he might be using you to prove his innocence in advance, Soobin-ah."

"That seems to be the case," Soobin said, nodding. "But my Weapon Killer Detection Skill didn’t get activated, so it means the Holy Sword wasn’t used to kill Song Sunho."

As its name suggested, he had the ability to detect if the weapon he touched had been used to kill a person for the last twenty-four hours. That was why APA or the Special Forces (Cracked Division) would call him every time there was a high-profile murder case.

"According to Captain Lee who found Song Sunho’s body first, it hasn’t been twenty-four hours since the Vice Guildmaster died," Cheongsan said. "Captain Lee used the device you invented so he can’t be wrong, Soobin-ah."

The device Cheongsan was talking about would be the ’Estimation Watch.’

As its name suggested, it was a device that looked like a pocket watch. It could determine a person’s time of death quite accurately. Of course, it was more effective than the previous method used to estimate the time of death.

Hence, it was a useful device.

"I don’t think Kunwoo-ssi was the one who killed Song Sunho, but he was definitely involved," Soobin said. "It’s suspicious how Kunwoo-ssi is trying so hard to prove his innocence. I bet Kwon Jiwoong was the one who mobilized Kunwoo-ssi and Lee Seodam."

"But I wonder why APA would want Song Sunho dead," Cheongsan wondered. "They use Song Sunho to control Song Moonho."

"Well, they probably noticed that Song Moonho already chose our Hee-ya over APA."

Cheongsan looked like he had something to say, but he stopped and pressed the bluetooth device in his ear. "What’s wrong?"

Ah.

[He’s probably talking to the people we assigned to keep an eye on Lee Seodam.]

After all, they couldn’t let the host of the Virus out of their sight.

"Chu Wonhee is there?"

Soobin looked up when he heard Cheongsan mention Wonhee’s name. "Hee-ya? With Lee Seodam?"

Cheongsan nodded, then he pressed another button that put the device on loud speaker.

"Yes, sir. We’ve wiretapped Lee Seojin’s room since Lee Seodam is often there. We’re currently listening to Lee Seodam’s conversation with Miss Chu. It seems like Miss Chu came out of nowhere— and she’s alone."

Right.

He did ask one of his trusted men to wiretap Lee Seojin’s room.

[I have a feeling that the kid would turn out to be someone amazing, after all.]

"Go and protect Chu Wonhee first," Soobin said, standing up. "I’ll be there."
