CHAPTER 227: MIDNIGHT RENDEZVOUS (6)

TSK.

Yejun clicked his tongue inwardly when he saw Song Moonho block the ice spear that he threw in his direction.

It wasn’t like he was planning to kill the (almost) traitor.

[But his arrogant face makes me want to hit him.]

"Finally— a worthy opponent."

Yejun looked down at the crazy woman dressed in a black wedding dress while holding a huge axe that was almost half her stature.

[You really can’t underestimate a Wolrd Ranker’s physical strength.]

Was that woman ranked 10th currently?

[Is this the crazy World Ranker who kills anyone who ignores her? The attention seeker one?]

Yejun silently landed on his feet, his eyes never leaving the crazy World Ranker.

"Hwang Frost, you’re the sole reason I went to this small country."

To be honest, the smile that the woman was giving him was a little creepy.

[This nutcase is worse than me, I can tell.]

"Why do you want to see me?"

Bride smiled, and then she let out a dreamy sigh while looking at Yejun. "As someone who was stuck in a stupid block of ice in the previous world, I’m sure you’ll join my side if you hear my plan."

Yejun’s face hardened. "Tell me more about the previous world you’re talking about."

The fuck?

[These bastards know about the previous world, too?]

He was shocked, but he decided to play dumb to make the opponent talk.

"Of course, you wouldn’t know," Bride said, looking at Yejun as if she pitied him. "As a fellow World Ranker, I’ll let you in on a secret."

Yejun physically cringed when Bride walked towards him.

But he didn’t feel any hostility from the World Ranker, so he didn’t move as the woman stood on her toes to whisper in his ear.

"Not everyone remembers, but we all regressed."

Fuck.

[They really know about the previous world.]

"The previous world ended with you rotting inside a stupid block of ice, Hwang Frost. If you let the System win again this time, then you might end up a frozen piece of art again."

Oh, right.

[I don’t know how I ended up stuck in a block of ice in the previous world.]

"To prevent that from happening, you must join hands with me, Hwang Frost," Bride said, suddenly holding Yejun’s hands. "In the previous world, the "heroes" won. Do you know what happened then?"

It took all Yejun had to stop himself from breaking the woman’s hands.

He hated being touched.

[Only Wonhee is allowed to touch me anywhere, anytime.]

But he endured.

[Let this crazy woman talk some more.]

"The System disappeared as soon as the heroes from the previous world cleared all the dungeons," Bride said, her face and voice filled with anguish now. "After that, all the Awakened People in the world returned to normal. I, a World Ranker loved by everyone, returned to being an ordinary woman."

Ah.

[I’ve heard enough.]

Yejun pulled his hands away from the woman’s grasp, obviously surprising her. "So what?"

"Didn’t you hear what I said, Hwang Frost? We’re all going to return to being ordinary people if we clear all the dungeons!"

"Yeah, so what?"

Bride looked shocked by his indifferent response. "You’re fine returning to being an ordinary person...?"

"In the first place, I’m not really that ordinary," Yejun said, shrugging. "I’m handsome, tall, smart, and rich. And, at twenty-five, I’m not that old yet to start all over again. I mean, it’s never too late to do that at whatever age. So, even if the world returns to normal, I’m sure I can easily find a new career that suits me."

This time, the World Ranker looked so shocked that she stepped backwards in disbelief.

Hmm?

[Perhaps...?]

"Why? You’re afraid of going back to normal?" Yejun asked in a mocking voice. "Are you nothing without your Hunter abilities?"

It seemed like he hit a nerve because the World Ranker looked mad as hell.

"Hwang Frost," Bride said through gritted teeth. "I’ll make you succumb to me!"

"You wish," Yejun said, scoffing. "I only succumb to one woman."

[That’s Chu Wonhee, of course.]

HAAAH.

Kwon Jiwoong let out a sigh while raising his hands, his palms facing the Winter Guild’s HQ.

Soon, a mist came out of his palms.

His Status Window popped up in front of him.

[The Let’s Play Hide-and-Seek Skill is activated.

As long as Hunter Kwon Jiwoong’s ability is active, the Winter Guild HQ would be hidden from the view of Civilians and low-ranking Awakened People.]

"Can you put that up for long?" Kunwoo asked. "Since a World Ranker is there, the fight might take long."

"As long as no one stabs me in the back while I’m busy putting up my mist, I’ll be fine," Jiwoong said, scoffing. "I may have been sitting behind the desk for long, but I’m still an A-Class Hunter."

"Alright," Kunwoo said, sitting on the ground. "I’ll guard you then."

YEJUN grabbed Bride by the back of her neck, and then he teleported.

He didn’t have to worry about Song Moonho because Graham and the others were there.

[I have to get rid of this World Ranker first.]

But it wasn’t easy bringing the woman far, so he had no choice but to bring her to the rooftop.

He threw the World Ranker at the ice rink.

The ice in the rink shattered due to the impact of Bride hitting the floor.

Tsk.

[Renovation might take long.]

"I’ll make you regret your decision, Hwang Frost," Bride said, opening her hand. When her huge axe materialized, she grabbed the handle tightly. "I’ll show you that a world with the System shouldn’t exist."

"Why are you called the Anti-System Faction when you don’t want the System gone?"

"You and your allies are the only ones who assumed that we want the System gone just because of our faction’s name."

"It’s not our fault that your faction’s name is confusing."

"We want the System," Bride said, sneering as her red eyes glowed menacingly. "But not the System that wants to save this world. The Virus will take over the System and control it properly."

"You want the entire world to suffer just because you don’t want to return to normal?" Yejun asked, scoffing. "Pathetic."

"I will get rid of you, then kill Chu Wonhee— ARGH!"

Bride wasn’t able to finish what she was saying because an ice spear, coming from behind, pierced through her throat.

Yejun’s golden eyes glowed menacingly. "Who’ll kill who, huh?"
