My Life As The First S-Class Guide
Chapter 278: THE GREAT ESCAPE (1)
CHAPTER 278: THE GREAT ESCAPE (1)
HAAAH.
Yool’s arms hurt like hell after breaking the egg with the sledgehammer that the System provided for him.
While doing so, unfamiliar memories flooded his mind.
It was like watching a sped-up movie.
He didn’t know how long he stayed "watching" it, but it felt like an eternity. Even so, he knew that time barely passed by.
"I like this violent side of yours, Yool-ah."
Tsk.
Yool turned around and got annoyed by the scene that greeted him.
It was Song Moonho entering the building like some mafia leader— his hands inside the pocket of his trousers. His usually neat suit looked a bit ragged, but that only made him look cooler.
Heck, even his entrance looked majestic since the monsters made way for him.
[It’s like when Moses parted the red sea.]
"You did well, Yool-ah," Song Moonho said proudly while looking at the broken egg that Yool destroyed with the sledgehammer. And then the old man looked at him with sparkling eyes. "I knew you’d succeed."
"Fucking son of a bitch," Yool said, cursing Song Moonho boldly because he was seriously pissed. "You left me here on purpose because you knew that the task was made solely for me, didn’t you?"
"I’m sorry— the System told me that it was something that only you could do, Yool-ah."
Tsk.
Yool clenched his hands, barely holding himself from punching Song Moonho’s face.
But his anger quickly melted away, whether he wanted to admit or not.
First, Song Moonho’s face was too handsome for Yool to "ruin" it.
Second, he didn’t want to break his fingers. No, he might actually break his entire hand if he dared to punch a naturally awakened S-Class Hunter.
[I’m angry, but I’m still rational when it comes to my own safety.]
Anyways...
The finally reason why Yool couldn’t really get mad at Song Moonho was because he could see that the old man was remorseful.
Aigoo.
[This damned Ahjussi is really putting his good looks to work.]
"I had no choice but to follow the System because you wanted to save Chu Wonhee and the other world," Song Moonho said, sighing. "The only thing I could was to lend my undead monsters to you."
"Do you know the content of the "test" that I had to go through to recover the previous world’s memories?"
"The System didn’t tell me what the test entailed, but I figured it out."
"You figured it out?"
"I do have some of the memories from the previous world," Song Moonho explained casually. "Hence, I figured the ’Womb’ would be the first monster to appear in the first dungeon in this world."
Yool knitted his eyebrows.
Just like Song Moonho, he also retrieved a few memories from the previous world.
Most of those memories involved Graham and Ahn Kisoo, but there a few that revolved around the old man.
And one of those was...
"Ahjussi, did you follow me here in the previous world?"
"Your memories haven’t settled in yet?"
"The memories filling my mind at the moment are memories that involve Chu Wonhee and Lee Seodam," Yool explained, and then he gasped. It was not the right time to worry about his own "love life." After all, his best friend was in danger. "Ahjussi, that damned Lee Seodam betrayed Wony in the previous world!"
"Yeah, the memories of how I died in the previous world are starting to come back to me," Song Moonho said, chuckling. But he wasn’t laughing because he was amused— he was laughing because he was mad. His dark orange eyes glowed menacingly. "It seems like it was Lee Seodam who killed my physical body in the past."
Hmm?
Yool found Song Moonho’s phrasing weird.
[Only Ahjussi’s phyical body?]

WHEN Wonhee opened her eyes, she found herself in the middle of what seemed like a fighting arena.
The ones used by gladiators in the past.
But she could tell that her surrounding was fake, though. She was just probably in a huge room with "green screen."
Hmm?
[So, I fainted when Lee Seodam grabbed me and used a skill similar to teleportation to bring me here?]
Fortunately, it seemed like nothing happened.
Hence, she suspected that she only "fainted" for a few seconds.
After all, it would also only take a few moments to get from Point A to Point B when using teleportation.
That conclusion calmed her down.
[Anyway, while I was unconscious, more memories from the previous world have returned to me. So, I can say all’s well for now.]
"You’re awake, Wonhee-ya?"
"Don’t call me that, Hunter Lee Seodam-ssi," Wonhee said to the man standing in front of him. "Why did you bring me here? Are you going to challenge me to a duel or something?"
"Not me," Lee Seodam said, smiling. "I want to test your powers first."
And, just in the blink of an eye, Wonhee was now surrounded by World Rankers.
Oh.
Pfft.
If Wonhee didn’t recover her old memories, she would have fallen into the trap that Lee Seodam laid for her.
There was a reason why those World Rankers weren’t attacking her yet.
[If they wanted me dead, I would have been dead by now since I "fainted" for a moment. That was plenty time for a skilled Hunter to kill a Guide like me.]
But Lee Seodam kept Wonhee alive.
"Lee Seodam-ssi, if you really want to kill me, you should have hired high-ranking World Rankers," Wonhee said, smiling gently. Her personality from the previous world and her current personality were actually clashing at the moment, but she just let her heart decide how she’d behave. And her heart was telling her to act brazenly like Bitna. "Why did you bring World Rankers from the Top 100?"
Of course, World Rankers from the Top 100 were already strong.
But Wonhee insulted them on purpose.
And it worked.
She could feel everyone’s hostility towards her.
"Careful, Wonhee-ya," Lee Seodam said, smirking. "The World Rankers are here to kill you. Because, just like me, they believe that certain ability of yours shouldn’t exist in a world that Hunters dominate."
Wonhee could instinctively tell what skill Lee Seodam was referring to.
[It’s the skill to "demote" Hunters and completely take their Hunter abilities away from them.]
Wonhee suspected that Lee Seodam wanted to expose her ability to the world.
[Because there are many Hunters like him who are afraid for the world to return to normal— and I’m a threat to Hunters like that.]
"Lee Seodam-ssi, you found your kin."
Lee Seodam raised his eyebrow.
"You found the cowardly Hunters who think they couldn’t be someone in a peaceful world," Wonhee said, stepping on Lee Seodam’s fragile ego on purpose. "But I won’t give you what you want. I can get out of here without using my own abilities. Because, unlike you, I’m lucky and loved by the System."
Lee Seodam’s face turned cold— clearly, he was mad now. "Stop talking and show me how great you are, Chu Wonhee."
"It’s actually Hwang Yejun who’s great— because it’s his ability I’m about to use," Wonhee said, laughing at Lee Seodam’s face. "System, give me access to Hwang Yejun’s Inventory— now."
