Chapter 291: THE FROZEN HERO
CHAPTER 291: THE FROZEN HERO
"WE’RE DEALING with both Cracks and invaders now. Even if we’re the Big 4, we won’t last if the World Rankers who gather together officially declare war against us."
Wonhee clenched her hands.
For some reason, she felt like everything was her fault.
"I have a suggestion," Song Moonho said cheerfully, raising his hand. "Let’s find and awaken Hwang Frost— the strongest Hunter in the world."
Oh, right.
Soobin, Semi, and Graham looked shocked by Song Moonho’s suggestion.
Wonhee wasn’t.
After all, Moonho-ssi already mentioned that plan to me before.
"You won’t bring it up without a reason," Wonhee said, tapping her fingertips on the table. "Moonho-ssi, do you know where Hwang Frost-ssi is locked up?"
Song Moonho shrugged. "We can just always blow up APA, though?"
Oh, dear.
"I think Hwang Frost is still stuck in APA HQ’s basement," Soobin, who was APA’s Vice President, said. "I stopped going to APA HQ after I established my own office. But, even if I was away from the office, I’ve heard rumors about the Basement where ’Patient X’ was supposed to be locked in."
"Even if everything you said was true, how do we know if Hwang Frost is still alive?" Semi asked skeptically. "And even if he was still alive, how would he help us? He’s been locked up for years. What if he’s no longer as strong as he used to be?"
"I understand what you all are worried about, but you can trust me on this," Song Moonho said. "I’m one of the last people who saw Hwang Frost before he got locked up, remember?"
Oh, right.
If Wonhee remembered correctly, Song Moonho was one of the people who captured Hwang Frost during his last Rampage.
I think the other one was Hunter Kunwoo.
"I’ll reveal it to you now, but we actually didn’t beat Hwang Frost— he self-destructed," Song Moonho said casually as if he just didn’t drop a bomb on them. "Hwang Frost covered himself in a coffin-shaped block of ice as if he’d rather be stuck there than die at our hands."
Ice?
Wonhee knitted his eyebrows. "So, Hwang Frost is trapped inside the own block of ice that he made?"
***
WONHEE knew that she shouldn’t be surprised, but she was still a bit taken aback when Song Moonho really blew up the APA HQ.
Of course, it was a bloody fight.
The brainwashed Hunters tried to protect the HQ from being invaded by the members of the original Big 4, but to no avail.
We shouldn’t be fighting our own people, but they leave us no choice.
While Graham was burning everything to ashes, Wonhee followed Song Moonho to the basement where Hwang Frost was supposed to be.
"Are you alright, Wonhee-ssi?"
"I’m alright, Moonho-ssi," Wonhee said, knitting her eyebrows. "Why do you ask?"
"You saw how many of our country’s Hunters died because of our attack," Song Moonho said carefully. "Don’t blame yourself for any of this."
She couldn’t say anything.
After all, just like what Song Moonho suspected, she was really blaming herself for everything that was happening at the moment.
They were fighting so many battles at once.
Wonhee and the remaining Big 4 were fighting the government.
They were also fighting the World Rankers trying to kill her because of Lee Seodam’s influence.
"We got this far because of you, Chu Wonhee," Song Moonho said, and then he stopped in front of double steel doors before turning to her. "The only people we should be blaming here are Lee Seodam and his narrow-minded followers."
Wonhee blinked her eyes, surprised. "Moonho-ssi, are you trying to console me?"
"I am not that coldhearted to ignore a child suffering in silence."
Pfft.
It was true that Wonhee and Song Moonho had a pretty huge age gap, but it was still funny that he was treating her like a child when she was already in her thirties.
Even so, she was glad to know that he cared about her.
Maybe I could push my luck, then.
"Moonho-ssi, before you open that door, can I ask you a favor?"
"As long as it’s within my power, I’ll do it. But may I know why you’re asking me a favor when you have capable siblings?"
"Because Soobin Oppa and Semi Unni would cry if I told them my dying wish. Although I know that Moonho-ssi cares about me, I’m also confident that you’ll respect my wishes."
"And that would be...?"
"Allowing me to self-sacrifice."
Song Moonho suddenly turned serious. "Are you giving up now, Chu Wonhee? Are you planning to surrender to the enemies?"
"No, but I can’t tell you about my plan yet, Moonho-ssi. Can you listen to my request first?"
"Alright. Tell me."
"If necessary, please save my friend Ong Yool."
"The one who’s with the System?"
"Yes."
"That friend of yours have two lovers— Han Graham and Ahn Kisoo. Why are you asking me?"
"I’m not sure either," Wonhee said, shrugging. "I feel like Han Graham-ssi and Ahn Kisoo-ssi have already forgotten about Ong Yool these days."
"I know what you mean," Song Moonho said, nodding. "Alright, I’ll save Ong Yool if I have to."
***
IT WAS like an inverted ice berg.
The ice was transparent— almost crystal clear— allowing Wonhee to see the beautiful man trapped inside.
This is Hwang Frost?
It had been a while since she saw their former #1 Hunter, so she had almost forgotten what he looked like.
He’s beautiful.
Wonhee unconsciously placed her hands on the cold surface of the ice, and then...
[Welcome, Guide Chu Wonhee!
I am Hunter Hwang Yejun’s Administrator!]
A Status Window?
To say that Wonhee was surprised by the Status Window that suddenly appeared when she touched the ice would be an understatement.
However, something intrigued her more.
"An Administrator?" Wonhee asked, amused. "What exactly are you?"
