Chapter 293: LIFE EXPECTANCY
CHAPTER 293: LIFE EXPECTANCY
WONHEE lay next to Do Ahyeon, hugging her young friend’s cold and stiff body covered with a white blanket.
Her older siblings couldn’t stop her from doing that.
Hence, in the end, Yeon Soobin and Jang Semi had left her in the morgue to give her time to mourn her dongsaeng.
"I don’t know how I’ll tell Yool that I failed to protect you, Ahyeonnie," Wonhee whispered between sobs. "I’m sorry. I should have known that bastard Lee Seodam was targeting all the people close to me."
Hence, she knew that it would be her older siblings next.
She would really lose it once she lost Yeon Soobin and Jang Semi, so she was glad that she finally received a response from the Tower.
I just wished I received their response a little earlier.
"I’m sorry for being a useless noona, Ahyeonnie," Wonhee said, closing her eyes as her tears wouldn’t stop rolling down her cheeks. "And thank you for protecting my second parents."
When her biological parents passed away, Aunt Sara and Uncle Muyeol filled the spaces that her parents had left. To be fair, that was how she had seen Aunt Sara and Uncle Muyeol ever since she was little.
They tried to conceive a child using all the available technology, but they still failed. They’ve considered adopting, but the apocalypse happened. So, instead of adopting one child, they decided to dedicate their lives to helping less fortunate children.
And that was also probably why Aunt Sara and Uncle Muyeol treated her like their own child, especially after her biological parents passed away.
"Aunt Sara and Uncle Muyeol were both good people. They didn’t deserve to die like that," Wonhee said, almost choking because of her tears. "You, too, Ahyeonnie. You didn’t deserve to die this young. But thank you— thank you for protecting my second parents. Your Yool Hyung and I..." She had to swallow the lump that formed in her throat. "We’re really proud of you, Ahyeonnie. Don’t worry about us. We will survive— and we will avenge your death."

THE NEXT time Wonhee "met" Do Ahyeon, the young man was in the form of an urn.
Her young friend’s ashes were there, and since his family had already passed away, she decided to keep Do Ahyeon’s urn safe.
She carefully placed it inside a glass box, and then she hid it in her Inventory.
We will meet Yool later, Ahyeonnie.
But, for now...
Wonhee looked around her bedroom.
Ever since she told her older siblings that she would become a mass murderer, Yeon Soobin and Jang Semi practically put her under surveillance.
Thankfully, her bedroom still protected her privacy.
It’s just a little hard to escape from here since there are many eyes guarding me outside the safety of my room.
However, that wouldn’t be a problem.
"Administrator, please come out."
This time, the Administrator came out in his "child" form.
He’s still wearing that tangerine head costume.
"Have you made your decision, Guide Chu Wonhee?" the Administrator asked. "Are you willing to sacrifice the remaining years of your life for that one skill you wished for?"
"I’m going to do it."
"Think carefully, Guide Chu Wonhee. You are a human destined to live and reach over a hundred years old— which is rare in this new world. And you’ve only reached your thirties."
Pfft.
Wonhee couldn’t help but laugh bitterly after hearing that. "I’ve experienced two apocalypse during my lifetime. I’m lucky that I’ve reached my thirties, so I won’t be greedy. Moreover, I really don’t have that much will to live."
"Guide Chu Wonhee..."
She couldn’t see the Administrator’s face, but she could tell by the tone of his voice that he was quite concerned about her.
That’s quite moving.
"Administrator-nim, the message that I received from the Tower was quite vague," Wonhee said worriedly. "The Tower only said it needed my body to create a portal in this world. What does it mean?"
"As exactly as it sounds, Guide Chu Wonhee. The Tower will literally cut your body open in order to create a portal," the Administrator said, pointing at Wonhee’s chest— at the part where her heart should be. "The Tower will use the Core in your heart, to be precise."
"So, I’m about to die a gruesome death."
"I’m sorry."
The Administrator seems to have human emotions.
"You have nothing to apologize for, sir. Lee Seodam and those damned World Ranker bastards would definitely do worse if I surrendered to them," Wonhee said, smiling bitterly as she clutched her chest tight. "Then I suppose the remaining years in my life is the reason the Tower chose me."
To be honest, she wasn’t waiting for an answer.
Hence, she was surprised when she heard the Administrator speak.
"This world is destined to have a Second Apocalypse from the very beginning. The Tower has the ability to see the lifespan of all the people living here. Out of all the people in the new world, you have the longest lifespan, Guide Chu Wonhee. And that’s special since the apocalypse lowered the life expectancy of all humans existing in this world."
"And the Tower needs my remaining lifespan."
"I cannot tell you why."
"It’s alright— I’m not interested to know since I’m dying anyway," Wonhee said, shrugging. "Administrator-nim, I can’t escape on my own since my older siblings are more powerful than I am. Can you help me?"
"That’s exactly why I’m here, Guide Chu Wonhee," the Administrator said, extending his hand to her. "Let me bring you to where your final battle shall commence."

NAMSAN TOWER.
Wonhee found herself suspended above the Namsan Tower— surrounded by at least ten World Rankers, and hundreds of powerful Hunters.
It was as if they were waiting for her to appear there.
And the person leading that blasted group...
"I knew you’d surrender soon, Chu Wonhee," Lee Seodam said, smiling as if he had already won. "Had you done this earlier, your parents would have been still alive today."
Wonhee knew that Lee Seodam was provoking her.
Of course, that bastard’s words cut into her heart so deeply.
However, she didn’t show it.
It’s easy for an A-list actress like me to conceal my emotions— especially since I know I’m the real winner here.
Hence, Wonhee gave Lee Seodam a smile full of pity.
And that smile was enough to erase Lee Seodam’s arrogant smirk.
He hates it when I look down on him, after all— and that’s exactly what I’m doing.
"Seodam Oppa, I really pity you. Until the end, you’re a pathetic loser," Wonhee said, her "sad" smile turning into an arrogant smirk— more arrogant than the smile that Lee Seodam had given her earlier. Yes, she called the bastard "Oppa" in a mocking way. And she did it again: "Oppa, you don’t deserve me."
Lee Seodam’s face turned red in anger, but he did a good job controlling his wrath. "Your arrogance ends today, Chu Wonhee."
"I’m not arrogant— you’re just too insecure of me, Oppa. You feel inferior to me because you know I’m better than you in all aspects."
"Enough!"
"Yes, this is enough talking," Wonhee said in a cold voice, making Lee Seodam flinch. But, she ignored the bastard for now, as she slowly looked at everyone around her. "System-nim, lower all these bastards’ level from their original class to F-Class— every single one who wants me dead, except for Lee Seodam."
Because she had a plan for that bastard.
Lee Seodam looked confused by what Wonhee said— until all the flying Hunters around them plummeted to the ground one by one, screaming and begging to be saved.
F-Class Hunters don’t have flight skills, after all.
