My Life As The First S-Class Guide
Chapter 37: IMPULSIVE THOUGHTS
CHAPTER 37: IMPULSIVE THOUGHTS
"YOU’RE staying here, Hwang Frost."
Yejun, who was ready to get in the backseat of the car with Wonhee, stopped when Yeon Soobin suddenly grabbed him by the neck. "Ah, Hyung. I can’t stay away from Wonhee for too long or else I’ll get "drunk" again."
"I can see your amber eyes clearly, so don’t lie," Soobin said, scoffing at Yejun’s blatant lie. "Amber is midway between yellow and orange, so it means you’re safe for a few days even without my baby sister’s touch."
"Tsk. Why do I need to stay here?"
"APA sent word that Kwon Jiwoong is coming here today," Soobin said. "I’m sure they’ve already heard that Hee-ya woke up as an S-Class Guide, and that she had a one hundred percent match with you. I don’t want them to see my baby sister yet, so we’re going to use you as a shield to make him leave. That coward is afraid of you, after all."
"I’m sure you can scare him just fine without me, Hyung."
"Hwang Frost, have you forgotten about your guild members?"
Oh.
To be honest, Yejun had indeed forgotten about his guild members for a moment.
In his defense, it was the first time in a long while that he became "sober." He got too indulged in that feeling that he had completely forgotten about his team.
"Yejun-ah, you should stay here and help Soobin Oppa deal with APA."
It was Wonhee.
Yejun turned to Wonhee. The car’s door was still open, so he could clearly see her sitting in the backseat while looking up at him.
"We’ll see each other tonight anyway, Yejun-ah," Wonhee said. "For our safety, let’s stay in Soobin Oppa’s house in the meantime. I’ll come home after hanging out with my friends, so be a good boy and wait for me, okay?"
Haaah.
Yejun got down on one knee and extended his hand to Wonhee who, thankfully, gave her hand to him as if she was already used to having physical contact with him. "Okay, I’ll behave. If someone annoys you, just tell me. I’ll free–"
"You can’t freeze people to death, Yejun-ah."
"Okay, I won’t."
"Good," Wonhee said, then she gently patted his cheek with her other hand. "Is this enough? Have you gained strength?"
To be honest, it wasn’t enough.
It would never be.
[I have a feeling that I will never have enough of Wonhee.]
But Yejun didn’t want to scare Wonhee, so he didn’t say it out loud. "I’ll wait for you, Wonhee-ya."
Wonhee smiled and waved at him cutely. "I’ll be back, Yejun-ah."
Soobin had to grab Yejun by the neck and pull him up.
Only then did Wonhee close the car’s door.
Then the car finally left.
"Hyung, stop grabbing my neck," Yejun complained. "I’m not a cat."
Fortunately, Yeob Soobin let go of his neck.
But the annoying hyung scolded Yejun again.
"Stop acting clingy to my baby sister," Soobin scolded him. "I know she’s now your Guide, but act professional. It’s not like you’re a newbie. You’re one of the Big 4– you and the others practically created the laws that bind Hunters and Guides."
"Hyung, this is the first time that I’ve been sober in a while," Yejun complained. "Let me savor the moment, okay? Wonhee’s touch feels so good–"
"Shut up. You’re talking about MY baby sister."
[So overprotective.]
"Hwang Frost."
"What now, Hyung?"
Soobin’s eyes glowed while looking at him as if he was dissecting him. "You got a new skill, didn’t you?"
"Of course, you would know," Yejun said, his eyes glowing as he smirked. "Yeon Soobin, you get your skills upgraded by loving Wonhee, don’t you?"
***
"CONGRATULATIONS on awakening as an S-Class Guide, Wony Noona."
Wonhee smiled at Ahyeon, who was currently driving the car, when they made eye contact in the rearview mirror. "Thank you, Ahyeonnie. I should be reporting to APA, but here I am, running away from them. I’m starting to feel guilty since I feel like I’m being an irresponsible Awakened Person."
"You have the right to take a break away from APA after the horrible things they put you through, Noona," Ahyeon said, huffing. "Worse, I don’t think they’re serious about punishing the people who mistreated you back then."
She leaned against the seat and crossed her arms over her chest. "That’s why I don’t want to face them yet. I cry when I’m super frustrated, so I need to prepare emotionally before I face anyone from APA."
And she couldn’t do that right now.
She was using her siblings as a shield. Although she felt guilty for abusing her family’s power, she thought it was only fair to do that since APA abused its authority first.
[Ah, let’s not think about it for now.]
"Ahyeonnie, have you seen the news about Seodam Oppa and Ruda Oppa?"
"Noona..."
"It’s alright, Ahyeonnie. I’ve seen the news, too. I just want to know when they did it..."
"Do you really want me to answer that for you, Noona?"
"Yes, please. I don’t have the heart to read the details."
"Most of the reports were exaggerated. It’s not true that Lee Seodam and Park Ruda had stayed in the Center for several nights," Ahyeon said hesitantly. "According to APA’s press release, Lee Seodam and Park Ruda went to the APA Center just last night. It seems like someone leaked the information to the reporters. So, Lee Seodam and Park Ruda were caught coming out of the Center."
It was just last night, huh?
As far as she remembered, Seodam had to leave her while she was being investigated by APA to enter a dungeon.
Maybe he just got out of the dungeon last night.
[Does it mean Seodam Oppa sought Ruda Oppa’s company as soon as he’s out of the dungeon?]
"I wonder if Seodam Oppa has already heard the news about my awakening..."
It hadn’t been announced to the public yet.
But people working for APA and the National Guide Center had been informed already. Hence, it was only a matter of time before the news reached the public.
"Noona, what if APA assigned you to be Lee Seodam’s Guide?" Ahyeon asked worriedly. "Lee Seodam is one of APA’s most treasured Hunter. And they know your past relationship with him. I’m sure APA will take advantage of that."
"They can’t assign me to Seodam Oppa," Wonhee said, smiling bitterly. "My ability only works on S-Class Hunters, and Seodam Oppa is only an A-Class."
"I hope his ego gets bruised once he finds out about it."
"Ahyeonnie, that’s a little mean~"
"He deserves it for being a jerk, Noona."
Wonhee just laughed softly, then she changed the topic. "I’m sure Yool will be meaner to Seodam Oppa," she said. "By the way, how long has Yool been staying at Graham-ssi’s villa? And how did that happen?"
"It started when Yool Hyung fainted after seeing Hwang Frost-nim in person," Ahyeon started with his explanation. "And Graham-nim took him home to take care of him. I don’t know why Yool Hyung is still there, though."
***
[DO I look like I want to be here?]
That was Yool’s inner monologue while walking past the employees working in Graham’s villa.
The employees, who must be Ahn Kisoo’s fans, were giving him a side-eye.
[I’m not Graham’s mistress, thank you very much.]
He had been staying at Graham’s villa ever since the crazy bastard named Hwang Frost froze half of Seoul.
[That lunatic really lives up to his name.]
Anyway, the frozen buildings in Seoul had already melted.
A flash flood occurred, but it was handled by APA and the other guilds near the "scene of the crime."
But Yool was still stuck at Graham’s villa.
That flame-thrower bastard left for the dungeon yesterday, so he took this as a chance to escape.
"Stop it, Sunho-ssi!"
Argh.
Yool, who had reached the yard behind the mansion where the secret door to his freedom was hidden, stopped in his tracks when he witnessed a scene from the BL novel that he used to read before he got transported into that world.
For real.
It was really a scene from ’Guide To Your Heart.’
[Yes, the novel title is cheesy. I wonder what compelled me to read that BL novel. Was it the illustration? Graham looked hot in that– never mind. I’m not a homewrecker.]
"If you don’t leave this place with me, I’ll kill myself, Ahn Kisoo!"
Blergh.
The one who blurted out that lame-ass line was Song Sunho, a minor villain from Guide To Your Heart.
[He’s also the Vice Guild Master of the Autumn Guild.]
"You can’t do this, Sunho-ssi!"
And that pretty young man on the verge of crying was Ahn Kisoo.
Wow.
[Ahn Kisoo is prettier in person.]
And Yool also didn’t expect Ahn Kisoo to be taller than him.
[The Graham in the novel would often say he wanted to put Ahn Kisoo in his pocket, so it gave me the impression that Ahn Kisoo was small. But damn. Ahn Kisoo is probably around 180cm while I’m only 176cm if I round it up.]
That was also his height in his original world.
[The shitty System didn’t even give me the chance to experience living as a tall man.]
That pissed Yool off, and that was probably what urged him to act on a whim.
"Watch me kill myself then, Ahn Kisoo!"
"Sunho-ssi, no–"
Ahn Kisoo, who was about to snatch the gun away from Song Sunho’s hand, stopped when someone else beat to it.
That someone was Yool.
[Thank goodness it’s a normal gun.]
As someone who served in the military for almost two years back in his original world, it was easy for Yool to unlock the handgun.
Then he pointed it at Song Sunho.
"You want to die in front of Ahn Kisoo, right?" Yool asked in a bored manner, then he pulled the trigger– shooting Song Sunho in the stomach. It didn’t make that much sound since the handgun had a silencer, but it did the job. "There you go."
Bye-bye, minor villain.
***
sola_cola’s thoughts on this Chapter: If it isn’t obvious yet, Yool is an important character so he gets plenty of screentime. This is actually Wonhee, Yool, and Ahyeon’s story. The trio’s friendship is precious, after all. 3
