CHAPTER 52: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

WONHEE realized that Yejun wasn’t simply staring at Seodam and Ruda when the surrounding air suddenly turned cold.

It was clear that the X-Class Hunter was trying to intimidate the pair.

"You two," Yejun said coldly. "You should know your place."

With just those words, Seodam and Ruda already fell to their knees while grabbing their necks and gasping for air desperately.

She could tell that Seodam and Ruda were being crushed by Yejun’s aura.

And Wonhee could feel the pressure in the air, but she remained unaffected.

Only she remained standing, though.

Even Ahyeon fell to his knees while gasping for air as if he couldn’t breathe.

"Ahyeonnie..."

"I-I’m fine, Noona," Ahyeon assured her while getting up. "I was just surprised by Hwang Frost-nim’s bloodlust explosion, but I’m not the target..."

Oh.

Maybe that was why Wonhee was fine.

[Yejun only attacked Seodam and Ruda...]

Wonhee got distracted when she saw Ahyeon raising his hands.

Then, a thin layer of semi-transparent surrounded them like a dome.

[Oh, this is Ahyeon’s shield.]

"N-Noona, my shield can’t contain the bloodlust of a member of the Big 4," Ahyeon said, both his body and voice shaking. Even his pupils were trembling as if he was scared, but he was determined to protect her. "Seojin is inside the private room, and the staff members are nearby. A powerful Hunter’s bloodlust is bad for the Civilians."

Right.

Wonhee shouldn’t just be standing there.

[If Yejun hurts innocent Civilians, then APA would never let him go again.]

Moreover...

WARNING!

Hwang Yejun is on the verge of going berserk! Stop the X-Class Hunter with your Guiding or risk getting Civilians hurt!

The sneer on Yejun’s face and the frenzied look in his eyes both looked scary to Wonhee.

But she had a feeling that the X-Class Hunter wouldn’t hurt her.

[His eye color hasn’t changed that much yet.]

"Yejun-ah," Wonhee said in a calm yet stern voice as she approached Yejun. "Stop."

Her heart was actually beating hard and fast against her chest, but she didn’t let it show.

She maintained a (fake) confident look when Yejun turned to her.

And, just like that, the cold breeze disappeared along with the heavy pressure in the air.

[He looks okay.]

Wonhee discreetly checked Seodam and Ruda.

Fortunately, the two were still alive, and both were catching their breath.

[I thought Yejun would kill them.]

Wonhee carefully raised her hand, checking if Yejun was still in his right state of mind.

Yejun gave her a small smile.

Only then did she stretch her hand to caress his face as gently as possible.

Yejun closed his eyes and leaned into her touch. "Your touch is really soothing, Wonhee-ya."

Pfft.

[Yejun often says "Your touch feels good," and it could sound dirty out of context. But what he said just now is actually cute.]

"Yejun-ah."

"Yeah, Wonhee-ya?"

Wonhee’s gaze went past Yejun’s shoulder. She sighed and gently pinched the X-Hunter’s (soft) cheek. "You’re so dead."

Yejun opened his eyes. "Oh, you sound like a proper omnivore this time, Wonhee-ya."

She just sighed and shook her head.

"Hwang Frost!"

Yejun frowned when he recognized Geon’s voice that echoed in the hallway. "Yep, I’m so dead."

Geon then threw his jacket to cover Yejun’s face, then he grabbed Yejun by the neck. "You’re coming with me, brat."

Yejun, obviously displeased by the sudden "attack," growled angrily.

Wonhee glared at Yejun for growling at her brother-in-law. "Yejun-ah, come with Geon Oppa quietly."

Yejun immediately turned gentle. "Wonhee-ya, are you okay now?"

Oh, right.

Wonhee felt a strong fragrance earlier that evoked fear out of her for a reason she couldn’t remember.

But the strange smell was already gone, so her body already stopped shaking.

[So, Yejun noticed that I was trembling earlier.]

Wonhee smiled, touched that Yejun was taking care of her well. It may be due to their professional relationship, but the feeling of being taken care of by a friend was always a good feeling. "Yes, I’m alright now. Ahyeonnie will stay with me here, so go with Geon Oppa."

Yejun observed her face for a moment before he nodded. "I’ll pick you up later."

She doubted if Geon would allow Yejun to return to the restaurant after he almost went on a rampage, but she still nodded anyway. "Alright."

Only then did Yejun follow Geon quietly.

Wonhee, after that fiasco, was forced to face Seodam and Ruda who had already gotten up. "Seodam Oppa, Ruda Oppa, I apologize on behalf of Yejun. He probably got agitated because he thought I was in danger."

"It’s alright. We survived thanks to you..." Seodam suddenly trailed off, then he groaned while clutching his head tight. "Argh..."

"Seodam-ah, I think we should head back for now," Ruda said while wrapping an arm around Seodam’s waist to help him regain his balance. "You must have been shocked after getting hit by an S-Class Hunter’s bloodlust."

Wonhee had to clench her hands tight.

[Why do I feel like I’m watching their intimate moment?]

She was about to turn her gaze away from Seodam and Ruda when it happened– Seodam suddenly fainted.

"Oppa!"

Wonhee tried to approach Seodam, but Ruda raised a hand stopping her.

"It’s alright, Wonhee-ya," Ruda said, smiling at her. "I got Seodam, and I can take care of him."

Ah, right.

Seodam and Ruda could take care of themselves.

[I have nothing to do with Seodam Oppa now.]

It hurt, but that was the truth.

"I understand, Ruda Oppa," Wonhee said, stepping back. "Please take care of Seodam Oppa."

***

"JIN-AH, are you alright?" Wonhee asked Seojin as soon as she entered the private room and saw the young man massaging his temples. "Do you want me to bring you to the hospital?"

She could talk freely because Ahyeon was standing guard by the door.

"No, I’m fine, Noona," Seojin said, then he looked up at her with tears in his eyes. It was as if he was holding back from crying all this time. "I’m really sorry about this, Noona. I didn’t know Seorin Noona followed me. She probably heard our phone conversation earlier. Then she sent the address of our meeting place to Seodam Hyung."

Haaah.

[I figured that much.]

Wonhee sat next to Seojin and gently patted his back. "It’s not your fault, Jin-ah. I’m sure you fought with your hyung because you tried to stop him and Ruda Oppa from meeting me."

Only an argument with Seodam could make Seojin cry, after all.

[It’s because Jin is afraid of Seodam, but he still stands up to his older brother for me.]

"They’re shameless," Seojin said, clenching his jaw. "I tried to call you to tell you not to come here anymore, Noona. But Seodam Hyung took away my phone."

She sighed while shaking her head. "Seorin Unnie probably pressured Seodam Oppa to come here and talk to me."

As if on cue, the door to the private room burst open.

Seorin entered the room with Ahyeon silently closing the door behind.

"You finally showed up," Seorin said haughtily, then she sat down on the chair across from Wonhee. "Chu Wonhee, you probably know why I’m this desperate to meet you."

[Not even a greeting, huh?]

"I’ve read your messages, Unnie," Wonhee said calmly. "If it’s about the wedding gown, then I can give it to you as long as you pay me back for the deposit that I’ve paid for."

Seorin looked shocked by what she said. "Excuse me?"

"I paid for the deposit of the wedding gown that you chose, Unnie," she reminded the older woman. "Hera Bridal takes a deposit when you reserve a gown from them. Then they send you the full price once the alterations are done. After you chose your wedding gown, you left the boutique in a hurry, so I had to pay the deposit."

Seorin looked like she was about to say something, but Seojin beat her to it.

"Seorin Noona, don’t be shameless," Seojin scolded his older sister sternly. "You took back Wonhee Noona’s invitation to your wedding. Why would you expect her to pay for the deposit of your wedding gown?"

Wonhee felt proud of Seojin at that moment.

[This kid grew up well.]

"F-Fine," Seorin said when she regained her composure. "How much do I owe you?"

Wonhee raised her hand. "Ahyeonnie."

Ahyeon then placed a thick bundle of receipts on Wonhee’s hand, then she placed the bundle on the table between her and Seorin.

"Here are all the receipts of the things I paid with my personal money for your wedding, Unnie," Wonhee said. "That includes the price for reserving Hera Bridal, the downpayment for booking the wedding hall, your bridal bouquet, etc. I paid for everything that you asked me to organize, Unnie. And I want you to pay me back now."

Seorin glared at Wonhee. Then she grabbed the bundle of receipts and checked them one by one.

And then Seorin almost dropped the bundle as her face turned pale.

[Of course, Unnie would turn pale because the total amount of money she owes me is equivalent to an A-Class Hunter’s entire salary for at least two years.]

"T-These prices are ridiculous...!"

"I know, right?" Wonhee agreed. "I can’t believe I spent that much money on an ungrateful person like you, Unnie."

Seorin’s face turned red from embarrassment. "You brat–"

"Please tell your mother that I’ll visit your house very soon," Wonhee said, standing up while looking down at Seorin with cold eyes. "And get ready to get out of my property."
